Terraria FanFic: POLARIS
By ビーチミルク and 1 collaborators
This is my first FanFic, so please, enjoy. If enough people like this, I'll add more to it.

WARNING:
This story involves a more realistic P.O.V than actual gameplay. Don't freak out because NPCs say things they don't say in-game.

Chapter I: Stars
It's the same thing every day. Go mining, craft stuff, buy and sell stuff, wait for night, summon the Eye of Cthulhu, wait out the rest of the night, repeat. Is it supposed to be this repetitive(hate spelling that)? What is the point of life? Let's find out...

Please, children, allow me to wrap you in the cozy blanket of a story as I unleash many a beast upon the world with my words. There once was a world. A world unlike any other, a world without limits or laws. This world was called Terraria.

Polaris awoke to the Guide's small exclamations of pain as he let more zombies into the house. The Guide(whose name was Colin) scurried to the back of the room. Polaris sighed and speared the zombies, then looked at the Guide again.

"S-sorry about that..." Colin stammered. Polaris sighed again.

"You've got to stop doing that." he said, then looked out the small window in the house and saw the sunrise.

"Sir! Sebastian(the Clothier) and I spotted a Goblin army coming from the west!" Terrell, the Arms Dealer, warned, running up the stairs.

"Oh, no..." Polaris murmured, picking up his Possessed Hatchet and blocking the doors.

As the enemies advanced, Polaris threw his hatchet over and over again, until there were too many to handle.

He knew he was about to die.
Chapter II: Jungle Vines
Polaris awoke on the ground in front of the mighty treehouse he called home. Dismembered Goblin limbs and blood were everywhere. There was someone standing over him. Two people, he noticed as his vision cleared.

"You're awake," came a familiar voice. Abigail the Nurse was crounching next to him. Polaris tried to sit up, blurring his vision again and feeling a searing pain in his belly.

"Take it easy, you've been out cold a couple days now. How about you relax a second and get your bearings?" at her words, Polaris lay back down again. He noticed Terrell standing next to her, and Polaris remembered about their relationship.

"What happened while I was out?" Polaris asked, his voice hoarse.

"Not much, really. All the rest of us just played Volleyball with that beach ball of yours and Chess with a board we got from the Travelling Merchant." said Terrell, a hint of impatience in his voice. After a while, Abigail stood up and helped Polaris to his feet.

"Just...take it easy, alright?" she asked, turning away.

"I will. Don't worry." Polaris replied, turning in the direction of the jungle.

"Maybe I'll kill her this time..." he muttered to himself, cutting through the undergrowth with his hatchet. Suddenly, something grabbed his leg. He dropped his hatchet as it lifted him into the air. As he was swallowed by the maneating plant, he struggled to escape, trying to grab onto something before he was in its stomach. He was plunged into darkness. There was a burning all around him. He tried to crack a glowstick, which gave him light for only a few seconds. He saw a light; the mouth of the plant he was inside. It slowly closed, but before it did, he reached toward it, grasping onto life. He sunk into the liquid as the light vanished.
Chapter III: Spider's Nest
Polaris awoke with a start. He was in his bedroom, and his hatchet was laying on the bedside table. His health was at 100. I respawned! He thought, then picked up his hatchet and walked around the house, waiting for his health to regenerate.

"Hey, Polaris! How're ya feelin'?" Durham, the Demolitionist, asked as he passed.

"Fine, thank you." Polaris muttered in reply, deciding to go underground in the Ice world to find an Ice Machine. He felt at home amongst the penguins and snow and ice. He put his mining helmet on and walked into a cave. Icicles hung from the ceiling, waiting to spear his head if he jumped. All of a sudden, he fell into a small room full of spiderwebs. One bad thing after another. Just my luck. he thought, trying to cut the webs, though backfiring and getting even more stuck. The web started twitching, and he saw a Wall Creeper walking toward him. He threw his hatchet and hit the massive spider, cutting most of the webs and nearly killing it. He threw his hatchet again and collected the coins from its body. Suddenly, he heard a voice. He looked down the tunnel and saw a young woman.

"A little help would be nice," she said, looking at him.

"Um...okay." he replied, coming down to her level.

"Bring scissors when you go exploring, they said. You won't get trapped in a spider's nest, they said!" she muttered.

"How would you like to come with me when I go home?" he asked.

"I'd love that," she said, "Thank you." and with that, the two went back to the Treehouse.
Chapter IV: Multiplayer
"I'll sell you the Gatlingator for 35 gold." Terrell said with a yawn. Polaris shook his head.

"10 gold," he said, "and that's it."

"25 gold is the lowest I'll go." Terrell replied.

"Come on, I know you can do better than that. 15 gold." Polaris negotiated.

"20 gold and 50 silver." Terrell said, absentmindedly flipping a coin

"Fine," Polaris replied, sighing, "but the silver counts as my ammunition cost." After he paid, he walked outside with his Drax to collect wood. Suddenly, a person appeared from thin air. She wore a pink cape, a platinum crown, and held a Terra Blade in her right hand. Her hair was pink and she had blue eyes. On the bottom of Polaris' vision, mysterious words read: Sparks has joined the game.

"Who are you?" he asked, looking at her curiously.

"I could ask the same thing." Sparks replied.

"I-I'm Polaris." he said, blushing and staring at the ground.

"You probably know my name." she remarked, looking past him at the Treehouse.

"Can I show you around?" he offered, watching her gaze go over the branches and leaves of the tree.

"I think that'd be nice. Do you mind if I stay here until I get a house built?" she murmured, daydreaming of the riches she could plunder from the place.

"No, I don't mind. Come with me." he said, and showed her around.
Chapter V: An Icy Blast of Darkness
As Polaris bartered with the Merchant, Sparks wandered around the roots of the Treehouse. Polaris had a lot of valuable and rare stuff that she wanted. Ammo, rare weapons, all sorts of things.

"Polaris collects a lot of stuff, doesn't he?" came a voice from behind her. Sparks spun around faster than you could say "slime." A man was standing behind her, and he wore a tuxedo, a mime mask, and a mysterious cape. He was tall, and he smelled like roses.

"Wh-who are you?" Sparks stammered, slowly backing away.

"Let's just say that I'm not from here." he replied, an ominous tone in his voice. Sparks wasn't sure if she was hallucinating or not, but she thought she saw black mist coming from where the eye cavities of the man's mask were.

"I-I d-didn't ask wh-where you are f-from..." Sparks said, her voice shaking.

"That's what makes it interesting." the man's voice sounded as if two people were talking at once. Sparks frantically looked around for a place to get away from this strange man, but quickly realized that he was blocking the only door.

"Polaris, HELP!" she shouted, doubting he heard her.

"Your little friend can't hear you," the man said, the ominous tone coming back to his voice.

"St-stay away..." Sparks stammered, trying to make herself sound unafraid. Suddenly, a blue ornament flew from behind the man, who turned around. Standing there was a younger boy, looking about the age of 16. In one hand he held a Christmas tree sword, the other a black balloon. He, too, wore a mysterious cape, and around his neck was a Werewolf medallion. He wore black frost armour and sunglasses.

"Stay away from her!" the young man shouted, swinging his sword and landing an ornament square on the man's face, not doing any damage. The man looked at both of them and pulled out his magic mirror, though not looking into it yet.

"My name's Oreo." he said, then looked into the mirror and disappeared.

"Oreo? That's a stupid name for someone like him, it should be something cool like Shadow or something." the boy said.

"That isn't very nice." Sparks muttered, walking away.

"Oh, by the way, my name's Aaron, but you can call me Crunchy." the boy said.

"Yeah, sure, nice to meet you and all that." Sparks replied, not stopping.

"Okay, I'll see you around then?" Aaron asked, but Sparks walked away without answering.
Chapter VI: The Frost Moon, Part 1
Crunchy was tracking Oreo. They were both deep in the jungle, Crunchy about 200 feet away
from the mysterious man. Of course, Oreo knew Crunchy was there, as he had heard him yelp in pain after stepping on thorns, but the boy didn’t know that.

“Heh. He doesn’t know I’m here,” Adam silently prided himself, as he hid behind a bush.
Oreo paused. Before him was a blue flower, glowing with light of the moon. He bent down to pick it up, and was about to put it in his coat, when an expression of distaste came across his face. With his other hand, he pulled out a wrapped present, and put it on the floor, then put the flower into his coat. He moved on, occasionally getting out his Digging Claw to clear out paths, vines and thorns. When Crunchy thought Oreo was far enough, he moved to the present. Holding in his hands, it glowed in a fiendish, purple light. Faint whispers emanated from the box. He undid the knot on the bow.

A few feet away, Oreo was watching him. He pulled out his ice rod, and cast a wall of ice before Crunchy, separating the hand holding the present on from the rest of his body.
Crunchy was quite scared. One minute he was admiring the box, the next his arm was frozen in a wall of ice. So scared, in fact, that he dropped the box. As it fell, another few chunks of ice appeared under it, forming a path for it to slide on. When it finally slid to the bottom, the burst off, and a white gas made its way out. It formed a short elf, with pointy ears, wearing Christmas apparel.

“You have feed me from my prison! For that, I must thank you. But now, I HAVE TO KILL YOU!” It yelled, and it bore down on Crunchy. Glowing eyes formed in the brush.

“Don’t move.” A familiar, yet cold voice came from everywhere.

“Wha-”Crunchy said, before a stake shot the santa hat of his head.

“Nononononononono. No no!” The elf panicked, as he looked frantically for his hat. “The big man wouldn’t be happy about this…” He muttered.

Oreo appeared by Crunchy’s side.

“Fun fact about elves: they care WAY too much about their hats.”

“AH!” Crunchy whipped out his Christmas tree sword, and landed another ornament on Oreo’s face.
“You really have to stop doing that.” The rumbling of a tank stopped them. The vines parted, to show a Santa-NK1, heading straight for them.

“Well,” Oreo threw a recall potion to Crunchy, saying “Drink it.” before he looked into his mirror and disappeared.

Crunchy thought about his options. Drink a potion from someone he doesn’t know (Crunchy doesn’t know his potions), or get steamrolled by a tank? He chose the potion. Gulping it down, he tasted bubblegum, then cotton candy, then choked on some glitter, then he tasted some peculiar fish, and then choked on more glitter. As he coughed, he closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he was in his room at the home tree. He heard shots being fired from outside.
Chapter VII: The Frost Moon, Part 2
"It's about time you ladies got back here!" Polaris shouted as he nearly dodged an ornament.

"Oh, be quiet!" Oreo replied, "It was Crunchy's fault he opened the present!"

"Can we stop arguing? I'm stressed enough already!" Sparks remarked, flying up and striking an Everscream a few times with her Terra Blade. Polaris joined her with a flap of snowy wings, taking a North Pole (that Sparks gave him) out of his inventory. Crunchy joyfully swung his Christmas Tree Sword and landed a few ornaments on the giant Christmas tree.

After what seemed like hours, the Everscream exploded into a shower of pine needles and ornaments, dropping candy canes and a Razorpine. The familiar words at the bottom of their vision appeared and read, "Wave 8: Santa-NK1, Elf Copter, Elf Archer, and Zombie Elf."

"When does this end?" Crunchy asked, flying around and throwing ornaments.

"When the night is over!" Oreo replied, dodging bullets and striking down an Elf Copter.

Polaris ran past, on fire. Sparks was helplessly shooting beams out of her Terra Blade. Crunchy and Oreo were cornered by a Santa-NK1...again. Polaris ran back into battle, flying up and shooting snowflakes up into the air, singing "Let It Go" from Frozen. Sparks started laughing at this, Polaris landing next to her and fighting at her side. Oreo saw the sun rising over the distant mountains. Just as he and Crunchy were left alone, they both heard a scream of pain from Sparks, and they saw Polaris down on his knees, holding her.

As Crunchy and Oreo walked up, in the rising sun they saw where a bullet had entered Sparks' chest. Polaris was trying to dig out the projectile with the tip of his North Pole. Sparks was pale and breathing in hurried gasps.

"Don't leave me, Sparks..." Polaris murmured, "I've lost enough to this world already."

Oreo and Crunchy watched in silence as Sparks' grip on her Terra Blade loosened and she breathed her last.
Chapter VIII: Jerry, Larry, and....Harold?
Polaris sat at the gravestone Sparks' death created. The message engraved on it read "Sparks' organs were ruptured by Bullet." He stared at it. Seconds passed. Then minutes. Then Oreo walked up.
"You miss her too much," he remarked, looking down at Polaris.

"No, I don't. Why would I?" Polaris protested, his voice choked up. He was on the brim of tears. Oreo sighed and put his back to Polaris. Maybe another companion would help, Oreo thought as he rummaged in his inventory. Perfect. A Blizzard in a Balloon. Whirling back around, Oreo took Polaris' hand and tied the string around his wrist.

"What's this for?" Polaris asked, looking at the shiny, bright blue surface of the balloon. Oreo beamed under his mask.

"Name him. He's a companion for when Sparks is away." Oreo replied, turning and walking back to the tree. Polaris stood up, still looking at the balloon.

Sparks was surrounded in black. Where am I? She thought. The surrounding wouldn't let her breathe, but she didn't feel as if she were suffocating. The feeling was as if her body was nonexistent. Suddenly, a bright light. A bright, blinding, white light.

As the light faded away, she found herself in the roots of the tree. Polaris walked past her room, holding a balloon. She walked outside, looking around and getting a breath of fresh air. Oreo was sitting on a rock, carving something. Crunchy was casting a fishing rod at things. Polaris walked outside and gasped. Sparks turned around just as Polaris snatched her in a tight hug.

"Sparks, meet Jerry!" he excaimed. The balloon bobbed in his hand. Sparks gave him a look as if he was insane. Which, he probably was, for all she knew.

"You need a nickname." Crunchy said, looking at them and walking up. Oreo stood up and walked over, too.

"Something that rhymes with Jerry." Oreo remarked, thinking.

"How about Larry?" Sparks asked. "Because of PoLARis!" she exclaimed.

Then, it was settled. Polaris would now be called Larry from now on.

"This is Harold!" Crunchy exclaimed, showing everyone a Mister Stabby he trapped.
Chapter IX: Larry's Moon Charm
A cold wind blew around the tree. Snowflakes twirled down from the sky, sparkling with beautiful brilliance as the tiki torches around the tree caught them in their light. Oreo, Sparks, and Crunchy were sitting in the underground part of the tree, enjoying Egg Nog and Gingerbread cookies by the campfire. Larry was out chopping wood.

Or so they thought...

Larry was so cold, an icicle was forming on the feather of his hat. His breath clouded in front of him. The full moon shone high in the sky, and the wind howled with the sound of werewolves in the distance. He shivered. He didn't want to keep the others waiting until morning for wood in the fire. Wrapping the Winter Cape tighter around him, he took another swing at the tree he was chopping. He wanted to be warm in the tree with his friends, but they would probably disown him if he failed to bring wood back.

"Ugh, what's taking him so long?" Sparks complained.

"He did say that there weren't many trees in close range of the Home Tree. I'd be patient if I were you." Oreo replied, a suaveness in his voice that made her stomach have butterflies.

"At least he let us into his food stash." Crunchy remarked, biting into another cookie. Harold simply waved his hand awkwardly. Oreo laid back and stared up at the sapphire-covered ceiling. The reflections made tiny pinpricks of light all around the room. It reminded him of a time long ago; before he met these people.

"Oreo? Are you okay? You seem distant." Sparks murmured to him, and he sat up.

"Everything is fine, miss. Just some memories." Oreo replied.

Larry sat in the snow and counted his wood. A faint barking sound could be heard, and when he looked up, a werewolf was running toward him. Acting fast, he pulled out his hatchet and threw it at the charging beast. The wolf simply growled and kept coming toward him. Larry threw his hatchet again, landing a critical hit and rupturing the werewolf in a small explosion of blood and ruptured organs. Just as he was about to look back at his wood, he noticed something glowing in the snow. A Moon Charm!

Larry equipped the small stone and gasped suddenly as a burning sensation creeped over his skin. It made him itchy, and he scratched himself all over. Fur grew out of his skin, and his face extended, becoming a boxy muzzle. His ears pointed and moved to the top of his head. Large paws replaced his feet and his robe bursted apart, with fur covering his entire body. His Winter Cape still remained.

"What in the name of Cthulhu just happened?" he whispered to himself, picking up his wood and going to the tree.
Chapter X: Update 1.3.01
Many months passed and the world changed. Coins were shinier, new monsters and potions were discovered, and there was a way to keep track of things people had done. Polaris was building a minecart when the Witch Doctor, U'kwa, walked up to him.

"You seem distant, Mr. Polaris. What seems to be the trouble?" he asked. Polaris looked at him and gave a sigh, then returned to his work. U'kwa annoyedly huffed and walked away.

"Larry! Larry! Larry!" came Crunchy's voice. "There's this new potion you've got to try!" he squealed happily, then held up a rainbowy-looking potion, took off the cork, and shoved it into Polaris' mouth. All poor Larry could do was drink it. When the potion was gone, Crunchy took the bottle and carelessly dropped it to the ground, the glass shattering.

"What was that for?" Polaris asked, then covered his mouth when he realized the pitch of his voice. "What in Cthulhu's name did you do?!" Polaris shouted at him. Crunchy laughed.
This is where I reference Polaris as a girl for a while XD
"It's a gender change potion! Oreo gave it to me because he thinks I don't know my potions!" Crunchy explained, then flew off on his hoverboard.

"Gender change potion?" Polaris said to herself. She sighed and walked into the tree, shutting herself in her bedroom and sitting on the bed.

Sparks looked at the snow globe in her hand from the joyous Christmas season and a smile spread across her face. She walked up to Polaris' bedroom and knocked on the door. "Polaris? Do you wanna slay a snowman? Come on let's go and kill! They will try to run and hide, but that's half the fun, come on let's go and fly! We could be best buddies, it's bonding time! When are you gonna see?" she sang loudly and out of tune. Then a few minutes later, "Do you wanna slay a snow man? It doesn't have to be a snow man.."

"Go away, Sparks!" came Polaris' voice.

"Okay, bye..." Sparks replied. A few days passed, Polaris was only out of her room to find the herbs to make another gender change potion. One day, when she was in her room, Sparks walked up to the door one more time.

"Larry, please. I know you're in there...I've been wondering where you've been...I say keep trying, and I'm here for you..please, just let me in...We only hae each other, Crunchy and Oreo too, but what are we gonna do?"

"Do you wanna slay a snowman?"
Chapter XI: Crunchy's Discovery
As Crunchy walked through the wilds of the world, he casted a fishing pole at random things for no reason. A common practice for a wild Crunchy his age. ANNNNYWAY, he stopped when he saw something shiny in the dirt. He walked up to it and kicked it. His boot was sliced open. "Well buttsauce." he said, looking at it. "Those costed a whole COPPER! I'LL GET YOU BACK FOR THIS!" he shouted, then started stabbing the object with his Christmas Tree Sword, smashing ornaments left and right. When that didn't even leave a scratch on him, he kicked it again, slicing open his other boot. He sighed and used his explosives to clear away the dirt, and gasped when he saw what the object was.

Sitting there in the dirt and broken rock was a familiar gold and green glow. The Terra Blade. Crunchy knelt down and picked it up, and the world seemed to melt away. He was in a black, lifeless void, alone with the Terra Blade. Out of the darkness, a ghostly face appeared. A chill ran down his spine. Four arms reached out from the darkness, but he fought back with his Terra Blade, the green slicing through the white and black brilliantly. The void seemed to rip apart, and faces, places, names, and colors flashed past his vision, almost too quick for him to process. He heard a voice.

"No mortal should wield this power. I am giving it to you."

Meanwhile, Oreo, Polaris. and Sparks stood over Crunchy, who was laying on the ground, twitching and foaming at the mouth. Sparks kicked him.

"He's definitely not alright." Oreo remarked with a sigh.

Harold suddenly walked up and then flew away on a unicorn.

It was a good day.
Chapter XII: Crunchy's Visions
As Crunchy was having a random seizure for no apparent reason, he had visions of his past. WOOSH. He was at his old home, about 14 years ago. He remembered a comforting, but slightly panicked woman's voice.

"Aaron, listen to me! This Solar Eclipse has lasted for too long, almost 4 days, and our defenses are about to bust." As she said that, a Swamp thing knocked the dor down and creepily said "I liek children."
Aaron's mom, Sasha, yelled "Go suck an egg!" And she shot its brain dead. She quickly handed some black Frost Armor and a Christmas tree sword, along with some other equipment.

"Here," she said "Take these and run through the tunnel!" Aaron put on the armor on and high tailed it outt there, just as Vampires, Swamp Things, Eyezors, and Frankensteins came in. He heard gunfire, and some pained screams and then silence. He decided to dig a hole to shelter, and found a Shadow Orb to be a companion.
Crunchy awoke from his seizure in a cold sweat. Everyone was looking at him like he was a monster "What's up with you?" Larry asked with a rude tone. He must have drank a gender change potion again. Crunchy grabbed him by the neck and held the Christmas Tree Sword to his throat. "Talk to me with a tone again, and i will slit your throat in your sleep." Larry squirmed, obviously terrified. Crunchy walked back to Home Tree and into his bed.

Harold crash landed in the ocean. The unicorn exploded and Harold went flying, landing in the tree and in his cage.

It was a good day.

This is the first chapter Crunchy wrote himself!

What the heck?
Why is this in guides?
This is not a guide. I'm looking for a guide on making awesome minecart tracks and I find something that's not even a joke guide.
