Introduction
I'll need to mention a few things before we get started.

Now that we got that out of the way, credit to RiptoR for the tool/hex edit on how to fix this issue in general, check out his guide below. His tool/hex edit fix was intended for Windows, but you can get this working on the Steam Deck if you follow my instructions.

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=410001138
How-To
In order to get this working, the save0.dsg & the .exe need to be replaced in the DreddvsDeath root folder with modified versions created using RaptoR's custom tool.

You have two options:

1. Go to his guide and create your own, it's quite easy to do.

2. If that looks too scary or you're feeling lazy, you can use my hard work & download the modified files within this zip folder here[drive.google.com]. (I set these to use 1280x800, 16:10 aspect ratio & Field of View set to 95)

Whatever route you choose to take, you now need to get those modified files on the Steam Deck. You can do that via USB-C, NAS, Cloud Storage, or any other solution others have come up with using your search engine of choice.

Now if you haven't done this yet, you need to go into Desktop mode on the Steam Deck and open the Dolphin File Explorer. Once you have the modified files on the Steam Deck somewhere, here are the folder paths you need to drop those files depending on where you have the game installed (These paths may not apply if you are using the GOG version on the Steam Deck):

Internal SSD path: Home > .steam > steam > steamapps > common > DreddVsDeath

SD card path: primary > steamapps > common > DreddVsDeath

Note that you may not be able to reach .steam since it's set as a hidden folder. If you haven't enabled hidden folders to show within Dolphin, here's how to do that. Look at the top right of Dolphin and click on the Hamburger/3 lines/3 pancakes menu button. From there, select show hidden files.

Now you would think we're done but there's something you need to be aware of. For some reason, if you try to launch the DreddvsDeath from Desktop mode, you'll get a Directx 3D error. Clearing out the compactdata/shadercache for the game does nothing & neither does switching to any version of proton. However the game runs just fine if you go back into Gaming Mode from the Desktop and start it from there. Why this works....who knows. Just be aware that the display won't change until you select the Steam Deck profile in-game.
Conclusion
Whether you are, became, betrayed, broke or followed the law, you made it to the end. Good job rookie, now you can judge others while on the go.
