Important note:
Because of the weirdness of Warhammer formations there is one oddity I can't fix because it seems to be hardcoded, however there's an easy work around. For foot soldiers with the formation activated if you right click and drag and you go to far the formation will glitch and the soldiers will form a circle near the edge of it. When you see the formation start to glitch up when dragging out, reduce the drag amount until the formation preview stops flickering. There should be no mini lines in the formation, just normal straight even lines.



Rather reluctantly, I made a standalone version of SFO for my Formations mod. I thought this could be a simple sub mod, but due to modding weirdness this required its own version because certain vanilla units are completely different units in SFO. For example, the Dreadspear RoR is instead a Bleaksword unit in SFO.

This mod builds off of Crynsos' mod in Warhammer 2 by simplifying the amount of formations each unit has and making it more light weight and compatible with other overhaul mods.

Most Spearmen with shields have Spear Wall, Spearmen without a shield have Pike Wall, and units with swords, maces, etc. and also have a shield get Shield Wall.

Most cavalry now have Wedge formation and flying cavalry have Flying Wedge. In addition, missile cavalry units have Swooping Crane.

Also, you can easily exit a foot soldier formation in combat if you right click attack an enemy. It might take a few tries to get the charge to happen.

There are also variants of most formations to make it fit more in line with that faction.

(Anyone have a more Warhammery name?) +Cavalry archers run around in a circle making it harder for enemy range to hit them. -They'll eventually run out of vigor if they keep in this formation for to long.


Not recommended for use with vanilla, or other overhaul mods. They still will work, but not 100% perfectly. Unit mods will work fine though and some are even natively included in this mod.


If you make a translation, or a sub mod adding units, let me know and I can add it to this page to make it easier to find. It's very easy to make a submod. If you want to add units from your favorite custom units mod then please do it, because unless I personally play the mod, I won't add any off of requests.

It "works" but like @migstar117 has mentioned the units become too tightly packed -- like I think unintentionally densely packed. They also spin around the centerpoint of the formation "block" so it ends up not even being worthwhile to use for shieldwalls / phalanx because all it does is fudge up your guys

An update would be nice to work out some kinks and stuff but regardless great mod.

yep, I tested the mod, and it still works; however, the units seem to be in a SUPER tight formation. models clipping together etc so would love to see an update to fix this bug

It still works (as of patch 5.3) - some units may be missing but it doesn't crash the game or anything
It is compatible with SFO and the other 52 mods on my mod list.
