Description
An eyeball planet. It's called eyball planet, because it looks like an eyeball.

v1.2: Now with Encounters
v1.1: Performance improvement
v1.0: Initial Release

Stats:
-Recommended size: 120 km
-Gravity: 1.12 g
-Atmosphere: 0.89 atm (breathable)
-Ores: All (not evenly distributed, look below where to find them)

Description:
Orlunda is a fairly earthlike planet and is tidally locked to it's parent star, resulting in the same side facing the sun at all times. Most of the surface of Orlunda is covered in a sheet of ice, which increases in thickness towards the dark pole of the planet. The sun facing side however is lush and green and contains some almost tropical lakes, which are fed by the melting glaciers closest to the sun-facing side. Due to the large difference in temperature between the light and dark side of the planet, the region in between is dominated by mountains aswell as large cracks and folds in the crust of the planet.

Gameplay tips:
The planet is pretty similar to EarthLike, but has slightly higher gravity and lower atmopheric pressure, so it's slightly more geared towards rovers. It's divided into three zones, green, red and white, according to the color of the terrain. They all have different ores.
All: Fe, Ni, Si, Co, Mg (extra cobalt on beaches)
Green: Ag, Pt
Red: Ag, Au
White: Au, U (extra uranium in ice canyons)
You can find ice in the lakes, on the icy side of the planet and rarely underground below the red parts. I would recommend to spawn in the green area, if you spawn somewhere else you might want to just respawn, unless you want a more hardcore experience.

How to Use:
-Subscribe on this page
-During loading/ creating a new world, go to options->mods
-Add this mod to the list of active mods
-Ingame: shift+f10, select planets, select this one, spawn it in
-If shift+f10 doesn't work, alt+f10->tick creative tools

How to make the sun stand still over the "eye":
-Turn off sun rotation in world options
-Locate your savegame (AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves)
-Open Sandbox.sbc
-Search for SunDirectionNormalized
-Change it to <SunDirectionNormalized x="0" y="-1" z="0" />
-Save&exit->Reload world

You want economy stations around this planet?
-Create new world or load world with economy disabled
-Paste in these planets
-Reload world with economy enabled
-Trader station spawn points will then be created around these planets aswell

:+1: to the "Better Stone" compatibility!

@sugarc4ne You should be able to find less valuable ores (Fe, Ni) at a depth of around 15m or so, which is detectable with the hand drill. Location matters greatly on what ores can spawn. See redacted description for hints.

im having trouble finding ore, is it just super deep or is it something else? when i fly around i cant detect anything with my drill

Any chance for a Better Stone version?
Major Jon  [author] 21 Nov, 2024 @ 10:57am
no, it's something deep down in the engine and apparently nobody in keen knows how to fix it.

This is a general question but is there any way to increase or remove the game’s limit on custom voxels?

I have a really beefy pc build and know it can handle a lot of custom planets, but every time I try adding more than 2-3 planets, they start using default stone textures.

so far so good, no issue at all for this

Sideways variant released here for anyone interested: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3362332228

Really awesome looking planet. Gonna have to make a RSS preset using it with it tidally locked to a star.

Oh sure, I'd love to see the tidal locking stuff actually work with real orbits and stuff. The reason why the green pole is the south was mostly for ambient sounds, if it's on the side, they'll have to be pretty much the same everywhere, but I guess that's not really a big issue.

Would it be ok if I made a rotated variant of this planet so that it can be used with Real Solar Systems? I need the green face of the planet to be sideways or it isn't possible to set up a proper tidally locked orbit.
