Some Better Ideas for Modded Races, You Uncreative
By Gangnam Landlord
You can't convince me that if there was a cat girl or lizard girl or plant girl race out there in the universe, we wouldn't immediately blow them up.
Here's some better, longer lasting options meant to spark your imagination. Go ham!

A vast chronopaeic cacophany of voices, scattered across the universal shelf.
Let's come up with something better. Something not TOO far off from the in-game races. They do a good job of creating different archetypes and fitting into the world well.
These fellows seem to be nomadic. Fighters. Are they controlling the jellyfish or is it controlling them? You could probably read about it in a boring book somewhere in the world.
Mechanical things are interesting. Maybe the technology developed differently, maybe this race has sought to turn themselves into the ultimate, self-contained multi-tool. There are options. How would it play out? Would it be easy to immerse yourself as one of these things or should they only exist as a background element of the world?
Gettin' Abstract With it
Humanoids are all well and good, but the real flavor of something being alien, is when it's... especially alien.
As an example; ants. This is pretty basic, but ants are weird. Hive-mindish. They fight each other. Weird semi-monarchic systems.
But our antliens deserve to be weirder than your average ants. Strange religious orb gatherings? Okay. Live young? Gross.
Are they conquerors, slaves, or something in-between? A hidden race, or a respected one?
Now then, they surely have some place in the world. Maybe they fought with the Avians, or fought alongside the humans. You can even make a counter-race to stride alongside or against them.
And this is all with the simple prompt of 'ants', there are certainly cooler things to work with out there than ants. Go search for them!
Are we done yet?
Nope. Here's some rapid-fire scattershot ideas to help mold the mind.
Clam culture. Please.
There's a distinct lack of clownisms in this cosmos.
Lastly, a fake transparent image of a mildly-smirking apple, to inspire your family for generations.

Can it be done?
We haven't run out of ideas, right? If you have, then go meditate in the mountains for a year.
In this vast and confusing continuum of collective culture, cosmic noise, and other nonsensical words, there's still things to be done. If not, stop playing Starbound for goodness' sake!

I am deeply saddened to see that you feel that many Starbound mods are unoriginal. As a modder, I pour my heart and soul into creating content for the game. It's disheartening to see such negativity towards modding, especially when it's a way for players to express themselves and add their own creative flair to the game. While it may be true that some mods are more original than others, it's important to remember that modders are trying their best to create something that they hope will be enjoyed by others. It's depressing to see such harsh criticism, and I hope that you can try to be more understanding and respectful in your comments.

This is a guide for the more distinguished ideas guy, tilde. The Jout understands that not all is what it appears to be,

I thought this was a top tier shit post, until I realized you are actually just a complete moron too high on his own toxic fumes in his parents basement. You clearly have no idea how modding works or sprite creation. GuYs LoOk I hAvE tHe BeSt IdEas EvEr!. The only thing this post that could be considered "inspiring" is the knowledge that the community will never have to see you actual create a mod.

The Jout cares not for personal appearance, but for the great good of mod kind.

The Jout knows what it takes to make a race mod.

wait what? this post is meant to inspire content creators though. he isnt saying 'do it now' its a simple guide to making imagining more unique ideas and species. if you dont want an ugly, inhuman race, then you can continue making humanoids and posting them on the workshop for other players who like these humanoids better than ugly inhuman races to enjoy. i think im supposed to thank you for your time now so thanks for a couple of things to both of you

The Jout, if you are so smart, why don't you do it yourself? Oh right, you don't want to, and you don't know how. Maybe if you don't want an entire fan base beating you down, don't make a post like this. As a Starbound and Minecraft player, I think that mods that the community make are very good, as I am learning to program, I will try myself. But at least I know the requirements, resources, time, and dedication required to make, and update a mod. Maybe if you'd do your research you'd find out that modding isn't as easy as making sprites/models and slapping them in-game and having it work.

Thank you for your time.

This is a formal guide for all competitive-tier modders. It is not intended for the common layman or working class individual. This is not formulated as a complaint against the gaming society or gaming state. I am an average man. I wake up. I sleep and eat up. I wake up in the morning and breakfast happens. Life is like a dentist's drill.
You must be dreaming in bed if you think I'll ever start modding a video game. You must be sleeping out of your mind if you think I'd ever modify the files of a digital occurence.
This is why Ben Franklin had fifteen skeletons in his basement.
If you're someone who mods races, leave a negative comment. But if you're someone downloading mushroom girl, I'm wondering why you read my book.

This literally the best idea, I have ever heard.
For 12 years of Starcraft, I have wanted to play as a race of ants with racially charged hostilities or an apple I think. I will make every single mod that you suggest here because you have good ideas good job +representative.:steammocking:
