SMT3 : Nocturne Easy to follow Endings Guide

I have found many ending guides online that were difficult to follow while playing the game because they separated the ending in such a way that I couldn't follow the story AND look out for all the triggers at once. The goal of this guide will be to make it easier to identify when ending decisions are being presented without having to check each ending. It will include as minimal spoilers as possible. I do not claim to be the original discoverer or writer of the following information. I am simply arranging it into a more easily digestible version.

Introduction

This guide will chronologically introduce each of the ending deciding choices as they appear making it easier to play the game without searching for which things affect your endings. All endings will be covered. Only choices that decide the endings will be shown. Save locations will be suggested as to allow for setting up multiple ends. I hope this is helpful and will remove your need to search. I am obviously not the only person who has collected this information, and I do not claim to be unique in my findings.

Note: There are 2 different icons for the Raidou/Dante "True Demon Ending" that appear on the save file diamonds. You do not have to get both.

Additional Note:The "Lord of Creation" achievement does not require that all endings be viewed on the same save file. However, a save file for every ending must exist at the same time. To best achieve this the player should break the game into multiple save files at the ending selection choices if they do not wish to play through 6 times on the same file (True Demon Ending does not have an achievement but is required for this one.)

Additional Note: If the mode chosen is Maniax or Chronicle, some of the "True Demon Ending" fights are required just to progress story, but they will be encountered naturally along the storyline and so long as the last optional part is not completed, it will not affect the ending.

I highly recommend playing through the game in at least Normal difficulty so that the player will be use to using both the Press Turn System and the Buff/Debuff system. For those who just want the endings the easiest way possible, the player has the choice to go through all of the story in Merciful difficulty. This can be taken advantage of very easily with the Demon ending. The player may save their game near the end and change the difficulty to any that they wish to achieve the required difficulty achievement in.

Additionally

If one just wants access to the demons in the Kalpa for the Demon Compendium and does not want to get the True Demon Ending, they must stop after defeating Metatron. Once this boss is defeated, so long as the player does not progress further and witness the cutscene, the player may return to their current selected ending. Seeing this cutscene will lock any playthrough into the True Demon Ending.

How to use this guide

As you play through the game, use this guide to see when a decision will affect your ending. If a question comes up that isn't listed, the question does not affect your ending. Please enjoy this magnificent game.

Ending Choice Encounters

Enjoy the beginning as you like

Play through the game until reaching the "Assembly of Nihilo" location. After this location the questions that have an affect on the ending will begin to appear. While getting this far you will encounter the first two Menorah keepers.

If you are not going for the True Demon Ending these encounters do not matter. Menorah encounters do not disappear if skipped and all of them can be returned to so long as you do not enter the Tower of Kagutsuchi. Entering the Tower of Kagutsuchi locks the ending and, depending on Kalpa progress, can lock you out of certain encounters.

Answer will not affect endings: Musubi, Shijima, or Yosuga

Answering with both Demon answers will confirm the ending so long as no other ending is triggered.

When? After Asakusa Tunnel.

Save File & Ending Split Final!

Create a separate save file for the True Demon Ending after finishing the Diet Building

Current number of save files: 6(True Demon, Neutral, Demon, Musubi, Shijima, and Yosuga)

True Demon Ending Requirement

Complete all Kalpa within the Labyrinth of Amala and view the final cutscene before continuing further. If at any point the player enters the Tower of Kagutsuchi before finishing the Labyrinth of Amala, they will be locked out of this ending.

Finish the game

Now continue on to finish the game with your chosen selections on each of your save files. Make sure to finish at least one file in Normal and one file in Hard.
Note: The game can be played in Merciful all the way until the final boss and then be changed to a harder mode for its achievement.
