I design my base and start the game.

I am still new to this game so my bases don't look good or work all that well, but I have been proud of my ingenuity of working around mistakes and making a barely functional base become a decent working base, that still looks like shit. Then I see what people have actually been able to do and I end up with my mouth agape in awe at what I am looking at. What I am trying to say is, good build and how did you do it so well?

I just dig my base into a cave, hope it doesn't attract giant bugs, and say good enough. As long as the butcher station/freezer/cooking station/tailoring station are all in a close enough proximity I'm good! lol
