Description
I could be anything you like, or nothing at all. But... I do exist…
-----
A mysterious gunslinger who carries a lax, uncaring nature towards combat, not putting much finesse behind his strikes, instead relying on his sharp aim in the heat of a fight in an attempt to have fun. While the circumstances for him arriving in Aether are a complete mystery, he has been stirring up trouble all over the place becoming a public enemy number 1 in Neo Fire Capital seemingly overnight. What is he plotting? Who can really say for sure.

Go-Lucky is a technical Jack-of-all-trades character who utilizes his guns to increase the effectiveness of his toolkit, enhancing his zoning and rushdown potential under a hail of bullets. Packing a solid mix of close and mid range normals, he can contend with the opponent however he sees fit. One can use the gun to keep foes at bay, or combine it with aggressive movement up close to break down defences. As a consequence to how powerful his gunplay makes him, he has to be careful about his resources while utilizing his gun, since without the gun out his toolkit is overall less threatening. He’s also quite frail, making mistakes more costly than you’d want.

Know when to approach and assault adversaries and when to retreat to refill resources. Ammunition is finite, but creativity is infinite! Keep your strategy unpredictable - chaotic, even - and take the stage of victory.

Quick rundown on the Gun mechanics
Pressing Nspecial causes Go-Lucky to pull out one of his guns and aim it at his opponent, loosely aiming at his opponents while he moves freely. Pressing Parry while the gun is out will make him to exit gun stance. While in gun stance, a reticule will appear which loosely tracks the opponent’s location. The tracking on that reticule gets more accurate when hitting opponents or when the opponent is inflicted with a curse (which gets applied by connecting an Fspecial projectile or the explosion hits of Uspecial or Dspecial). Pressing the Strong attack button will shoot the gun at the center of the reticule at the cost of one bullet. You can enter/exit gun stance or shoot the gun during any action, though you are not allowed to shoot whenever Go-Lucky is in hitstun. Performing a Strong attack while the gun is holstered puts you in gun stance at the end of the action.

The gun stance is regulated by your Concentration and Ammo. Concentration is a meter which drains if you have the gun out and replenishes whenever the gun is put away. If you let the concentration meter run out all the way, he enters a cooldown state where he can’t pull out the gun or perform strong attacks until the meter has refilled all the way. Meanwhile, Ammo is consumed whenever you shoot your gun. You are limited to 6 shots and have to manually reload them once they’ve been expended through the use of his taunt. The duration of the reload is determined by how many shots you had used before reloading, making it easier to sneak in a reload if you’ve used few shots prior. You are also able to reload by pressing Nspecial while you have no ammo in your clip. Performing the reload also makes you exit out of gun stance if you’re in it.

Special Moves

Nspecial 2– Steady Aim
Pressing Nspecial while in gun stance causes Go-Lucky to lift his shades and hold his gun steady, increasing the accuracy and power of his shots while he’s focused. A higher risk version of Gun stance, Steady aim roots you in place and grants you more powerful shots that are extremely hard to avoid. However, while in this stance, your shots are significantly more committal, making missing one put him at serious risk of getting punished. Your concentration meter also drains faster while in this stance, and his gun explodes if his meter runs out, granting the opponent an opening to punish him or even killing himself outright if he isn’t careful with it. Pressing Parry while in steady aim puts you back in regular gun stance, allowing you to get out whenever you do feel like you need to bail. While in Steady Aim, pressing the Special button can also be used to fire the gun.

Fspecial– Focused Curse
Go-Lucky summons an orb of cursed energy before leaping back and throwing it. This acts as a quick ranged harassment tools that also helps when you need to create some space between you and your opponent. This move also serves as your main way of inflicting the curse status, making the tracking on the gun stance reticule better for as long as they are marked. Due to the backwards leap while Go-Lucky throws the orb, performing Fspecial while facing away from the stage can be useful as an additional form of horizontal recovery.

Uspecial– Corpse Drop
Go-Lucky summons a clone of himself below him before kicking off of it and shooting it down as an explosive projectile. This move is a decent recovery move that covers a good amount of vertical distance but doesn’t offer much in the ways of mixups or protection above you, instead launching down a powerful projectile that is pretty good at killing off the top while also inflicting the curse status. The move sports a hitbox on the gun shot which if landed causes the explosion to go off early, making it an effective kill move in certain situations. It’s especially useful for stopping juggling attempts or just filling the screen with more garbage.

Dspecial– Scapegoat
Go-Lucky leaps back while summoning a clone in front of him which sits in place for 3 seconds before fading away. This move functions as an additional form of stage control for Go-Lucky, allowing him to create a pseudo wall between him and his opponent that they must either navigate around or destroy to get past it. The clone dies in one physical hit, making it somewhat easy to dispel, though it can be used as a wall against projectiles due to it not getting destroyed by them. Similar to Fspecial, performing the move away from the stage can be useful as an additional form of horizontal recovery.

If Go-Lucky throws an Fspecial projectile at the clone, it enters an armed state for 3 seconds before detonating in an explosion, cursing any opponents caught in the blast. This blast will go off prematurely if the opponent is launched into the armed clone, allowing you to use it as a combo extension tool in certain situations. You can get the same detonation from knocking a cursed opponent into an unarmed clone, giving you additional flexibility as to how you get to that explosion. You can extend the duration of the armed state by throwing additional Fspecial projectiles into the clone, allowing you to delay the effective threat of the explosion for when you can best make use of it.
