On December 7th, 2022, online servers have been shut down. As a result, you could no longer play the game with your friends the normal way.

However, with a bit of setup, it should be possible to play the game with your friend through Remote Play Together.

• Friend
• Gamepad

• Launch the game
• Make sure your friend is logged in to Steam
• Open your Steam Overlay in-game (Shift+Tab)
• From your friends list, right-click your friend and select 'Remote Play Together'
• Once your friend accepts the invite, they will be in-game with you

• Make sure to enable your friend's inputs in Remote Play Together settings

  

Unless you're able to comfortably squeeze controls for 2 players onto 1 keyboard. one of you will have to use a controller.

• Open controls settings (Main Menu -> Settings -> Controls)

• Set up two control schemes, one for you and one for your friend
  You can select a control scheme by clicking the arrow icons next to the "control scheme" option.
  
  If you need to, edit the control schemes. Pay attention to the number of the control scheme you're editing:
  • Default control scheme at number 0 is mapped to a keyboard, one of you will use this control scheme.
    
  • Default control schemes at number 1 and 2 are mapped to a DualShock 4 controller, one of you will use this control scheme. Depending on the controller you are using, you may need to remap some inputs.

• Select control schemes that will be used for player 1 and player 2
  Decide which one of you will be player 1 and player 2. Player 1 will be on the left and player 2 will be on the right.
  From the control schemes you've previously set up, select control scheme for each of you:
  
  • Control scheme for player 1 is selected through "control scheme" option.
    
  • Control scheme for player 2 is selected through "player 2 scheme" option.

All that's left to do is start the game.

• Enter offline mode (Main Menu -> Play -> Play Offline)
  
• Set "random opponent" to "no"
  
• Select the gamemode and map you want to play and click "start game"
  
• Once on "waiting for players" screen, click "2-player"
  
• You should be good to go
  

If you want, you can adjust the appearence of player 2.

• Go to customization menu (Main Menu -> Character -> Customization) and create a new preset

• Edit the appearence and save the preset
  The name of the preset will be used as name for player 2.

  Don't forget to switch back to your main preset afterwards.

• Go to settings and select player 2 preset
  ​⠀
  
• You should be good to go
