What is it spreads?
It spreads is a unique Barotrauma mod, inspired by ss13, horde shooters, squad, left 4 dead versus and an array of other tittles that presents an entirely new way to play the game. This mod is split into 3 main parts:
  • It walks: Large scale surface warfare against the hive with features such as artillery, squad systems, airdrops, base building and more. While still retaining PVE elements it has much more of a focus on PVP compared to the other it spreads denominations
  • It Digs: Underground focused primarily PVE survival horror taking inspiration from games such as deep rock galactic and hidden deep.
  • The campaign:A linear story driven campaign for 1-6 people.


NOTE THIS GUIDE ONLY HAS FINISHED OR ALMOST FINISHED ITS CONTENT. SINCE THE MOD IS NOT RELEASED THIS IS FOR OUR PLAYTESTERS PRIMARILY. I AM STILL ADDING IMAGES AND SOME INFO.
Gamemodes
It walks:

  • Escape: loot the bodies of the other ships, reach each the evac shuttle and escape before the evac shuttle leaves after your entire fleet crashes on an infected region of the Cyeran surface. You become a hiveboss upon death.l
  • Sample collection: Small 1-8 person mode where you just collect enough samples from dead hive to win the round.
  • Relay repair: Repair several procedurally generated relay stations across the map,
  • Payload: Haul a payload of TNT to a queen hive and destroy it.
  • Siege: Survive in your fortress, enter last stand mode when out of tickets and become infected upon death.

It digs:



  • Escape: Escape the caverns in time
  • Rescue: Rescue a survivor stuck deep in the mines
  • NPC rescue:Rescue an NPC survivor deep in the mine
  • Civ mission: Survive as a group of normal civs and wait for a rescue team of dead players to save you.
  • Impostor mode: Basically my other mod based on john carpenters: "The thing"

Snatchers:
A spider-like creature which can grab and carry away players, especially dangerous when player controlled.

Abominations:

An infected mudraptor which triples in size, speed, and strength every kill up to 3 times.





  • Scales by a factor of 3 in health speed and damage for every kill

  • Can escalate into a very large threat

Hivespores:
A ball of flesh which can branch off and create new hives.







Hivebuilders
A massive, but not too dangerous spider that is capable of building hives



  • High health
  • Slow
  • Builds hives
  • Low damage
  • Very large
  • Low threat in direct combat


Grunts:
The primary asset of the hive army, an unarmored infected human that uses their sharp arms to attack and kill survivors.



  • Low health
  • Medium speed
  • Cannon fodder but dangerous in groups
  • Low damage
  • Medium threat

Launchers
A taller, lanky grunt that launches his arm off in order to spear survivors.




  • Low health
  • Medium speed
  • Cannon fodder but dangerous in groups
  • Fires arm as a projectile with high damage
  • Medium threat

Devourers
A flying monstrosity which attacks via his 3 tentacles.





  • High health
  • Fast speed
  • Rare
  • High damage

Anklegrabbers
A crawling grunt whose legs have been shot off.



  • High health
  • Very slow speed
  • Has a chance to spawn when a grunt is killed
  • High damage
  • High infection chance

Hunks
An intensely mutated and armored human


Doubleheads
The weakest of all hive enemies, a small and shrimpy "meatball" which latches on and is able to suck blood from the target.

Certainly a mouthful but his tough power armor makes him a very challenging target

Gearbuying and credit system
Killing hive, reviving teammates and being overall helpful earns you credits. Credits stay between rounds and server restarts given the host has properly set up the mod. To use your credits type /withdraw [amount] and use the withdrawn credits at your class vendor station. Make sure to not to drop or move the credits anywhere but your vendor station, doing so willl result in them dissapearing.
Credits can be checked with the /balance command.

A slow firing, high headshot damage and accuracy DMR which is able to fire a cataclysm round via an adapter.

In addition to simply walking there's two other ways to get around in ITS.



Ziplines:

Simply approach a zipline station and press the button to use it



Travel stations

If both fast travel stations are repaired and fueled then pressing a button will teleport you to the other.

A land of swamps, and previously dense urban areas. It was the location for the first two trailers.

A 2km jungle used primarily for the evac mode

Base upgrades
Basepoints which are used for base upgrades are earned for killing bosshive and hive structures, only the commander can purchase base upgrades.


All current upgrades:

  • Plasma and normal howitzer
  • stronger gate.

Base upgrades are only in siege mode. To use base upgrades approach a a buyable upgrade then type /upgrade at the upgrade point, given you have sufficient BP it will then deduct it and build/do the upgrade.

Day night cycle
There are 4 "times" night, midday, sunrise and sunset. It gradually cycles between the 4 over a 30 minute cycle.

Terraforming
In most it walks modes hives and other structures (which spawn enemies) are created by hive spores and hivebuilders. Hives spawn hive-plants, enemies and other structures like gas vents.
Artillery
To use either a normal or plasma howitzer first load it then enter the desired angle in the adjacent terminal. Afterwards simply press the button and your round should fire.

Lore
Timeline:

2027: The United States successfully establishes the first human colony on Mars, paving the way for further colonization and terraforming efforts on the red planet.

2030: Terraforming efforts begin on all of the "core worlds," including Earth, Mars, and Europa.

2040: FTL (faster-than-light) travel is discovered, revolutionizing space travel and making it possible to colonize and explore distant planets and systems.

2170-2230: The Great Terran Wars take place, with various countries and colonies fighting for control and resources. The planetary colonies of various countries play a significant role in the conflict.

2260-2310: The Age of Prosperity begins, marked by rapid expansion and colonization beyond the solar system. The United Mankind Federation is formed, bringing together all of the major human civilizations and planets under a single governing body.

2350: The jungle planet Cyera is colonized, offering a new frontier for exploration and resource extraction. The urbanworld of Xavis and the icy arctic plains of Bivion are also colonized in the following years.

2350-2410: The second interstellar rebellion takes place, fueled by rampant imperial corruption and the dissolution of the once-thriving democracy of the UMF. This rebellion is also eventually suppressed, but it further weakens the unity and stability of the federation.


2470: A cyeran mine is discovered to be infected by an alien hive, filled with creatures that can assimilate both federation armies and local populations. A war against the hive begins and continues to this day. Cyera is eventually assimilated by the hive, posing a risk to all of humanity.

2480: The hive manages to break the republic blockades and establishes footholds in various worlds

2501:The Stovan evacuation takes place, as the hive threatens to overrun the planet. The federation's fleet is able to evacuate most of the civilian population, but many soldiers are left behind to hold off the hive.

2509: The Church of the Hive is formed, consisting of individuals who believe in the power of the hive and its potential to bring about a new era of unity. The church has infiltrated the imperial government, causing concern among the general population.

2520: Despite the ongoing war against the hive, a third rebellion is formed by the Jovian separatists who seek to take advantage of the chaos and instability within

2525: The Green Corporation is formed, specializing in the production of autonomous robots for use in the UMF marines.

2545: The UMF successfully repels a siege on the Terran Eurasian capital by the hive.

Wait so is "it walks" pretty much similar to natural selection? A bit more directed and less team v team but it kinda feels that way.
