Just wanted to give a quick hint to some people out there, as I've been wondering what happened to my game as well. I was missing a lot of soundeffects. Occasionally something like weaponfire could be heard, or punching someone, but most of the time it was completely silent.

I was using the modified exe files from WSGF for ultrawide resolution. Sadly, while they show the game in wonderful 2560x1080, those also created my problems. I suggest restoring the original exe file by clicking "Verify Game Files" as the current version of Desperados works on Windows 10 natively and at least supports 16:9.
