Class description
Dreadnoughts / Battleships (BB) are heavy surface vessels, designed around heavy APS gun platforms, firing rail assisted shells at enemies, while packing a decently heavy armour to soak up all but the heaviest rounds. These vessels focus on engaging large surface ships and airships, having only a comparably light secondary armament and little to no missiles. A relatively light torpedo armament is usually present, however, to give these vessels some means of engaging submarines. These vessels are best to be escorted by dedicated AA ships.

The ship
The Centaur class is a hybrid between the Dreadnought class and battlecruisers. The Centaur is the first of its kind, being built to overcome the weaknesses of Dreadnoughts, while being as fast as a battlecruiser. Dreadnoughts have the disadvantage of low mobility, meaning that highly mobile units can elude being fired upon. The all-gun setup also means a relatively low performance against high mobility targets as well as forwarders. To counter these shortcomings, the Centaurt relies on a combination of an all forward gun setup with comfortable firing angles, as well as a large array of anti-ship missiles. Facing forward targets, it has the same punching power as a typical battleship, but the addition of missiles allow strikes to be carried out against targets everywhere, regardless of orientation. High speed allows it to escape slower units and control the engagement, while faster units can be reliably kept within sight of the main guns. Mounted on the wings and aft are 5 80mm rotary guns that have a dual AA/CIWS use. They can reliably take out much of what can be thrown at the vessel, although it doesn't make her immune to missiles by any means. The armour, while still relatively thin at 4-5m, is enough to withstand most medium to high intensity fire, but the thin deck armour means it's vulnerable to air units. A hybrid gasturbine and ICE setup allows the vessel to be relatively economical at speed, while maintaining a large amount of power reserved for combat.

Centaur is powerful enough to win against almost everything Neter can throw at it. To aid in combat effectiveness, the main guns can use different types of ammo, to be selected on the bridge and in the command room.

v86. Added a fifth ammo store. Also did a touch up on a few missing parts, added extra missile defences and QoL changes

Hi! Thanks for the compliment. Regarding your concerns; the ammo is concentrated in four locations. Two in between the A and B turret, and two in the aft section. Unless the inner walls between those ammo stores is perforated by a shell, one ammo store blowing up should be contained to only that one. Using more ammo stores means more weight and extra wasted space. On top of that, should one ammo store indeed blow up, odds are a part of the weaponsystems are disfunctional by that time so it shouldn't result in shortages. Throughout my testing, I've never ran into the situation where I ran out of ammunition, and by the time all four ammo stores are blown, the lack of ammo isn't going to be the biggest issue ;)

In short, it's a calculated risk.

This is a great battleship, but putting 80% of the ammunition in one box is a bad idea
