How to download older CS:GO versions
1. Go to SteamDB[steamdb.info] site, open CS:GO depots[steamdb.info].
2. Open manifests of depot 731[steamdb.info] (or 2347770[steamdb.info] for CS2) and find the one you need based on the date.
3. Open manifests of depot 732[steamdb.info] (or 2347771[steamdb.info] for CS2) and find manifest with the same date.
4. Open steam console (type steam://open/console in browser) and type two lines in it:
  • download_depot 730 731 (YOUR 731 MANIFEST ID)
  • download_depot 730 732 (YOUR 732 MANIFEST ID)
Or for CS2:
  • download_depot 730 2347770 (YOUR 2347770 MANIFEST ID)
  • download_depot 730 2347771 (YOUR 2347771 MANIFEST ID)




Wait for a downloading. When the it is complete, two lines will appear about the end of the download.
5. Go to (YOUR STEAM PATH)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_730 and move depot_732 folder content to depot_731 (merging folders).
6. Run csgo.exe, cstrike15.exe or game\bin\win64\cs2.exe and play!
How to play with friends (with VAC secure)
NOT ALL versions can be played with VAC secure because of digital signatures! CS:GO will be reinstalled!
1. Go to (YOUR STEAM PATH)\Steam\steamapps\common.
2. Rename an existing Counter-Strike Global Offensive folder to other name (For Example Counter-Strike Global Offensive New).
3. Move depot_731 folder to (YOUR STEAM PATH)\Steam\steamapps\common and rename it to Counter-Strike Global Offensive.
4. Launch CS:GO from Steam and play!
5. After playing don't forget to rename the folder back.
How to play with friends (without VAC secure)
One of the ways is to make a server.
In the same way download needed manifests for depots 731[steamdb.info] and 740[steamdb.info]. Then drop their content to new folder.
Configure and run server using command line like in this guide with -insecure launch option.
Ask friends to connect to you using connect (YOUR IP):(SERVER PORT) command. Server port is 27015 by default. You can change it with -port launch option. If you have this port forwarded you can use your real ip. But most likely it will be easier to use programs like Radmin VPN[radmin-vpn.com] or Hamachi[vpn.net].

I just found out how to play with friends without VAC and without making a server:

1. Launch csgo.exe from the depot and press 'OK' on the VAC warning
1.5. If one of you get the 'Account configuration' error then type 'connect 1' in the console
2. Click on the 'PLAY' tab and click 'PLAY WITH FRIENDS'
3. There is a list of friends that are online on the left side of your screen. Right click on the one that you want to play with and click 'Invite to lobby'. Your friend will have to accept your invite through a message on Steam
4. Once your friend joined the lobby, click on 'GAME SETTINGS' and change them to however you want. You can make it competitive, another map, just change it. Now click 'ACCEPT'
5. Click on 'CHANGE PERMISSIONS', this will toggle the match to be private so there won't be any matchmaking
6. Click on 'GO'
7. Enjoy

If you're doing this alone it will keep loading forever on the versions I've tried this on.

After the 8th of may 2025, skins stopped working. Valve blocked inventory features in csgo so skins are basically dead ://

Some common errors and fixes:
1 - Depot download failed : Failed downloading 1 manifests (Manifest unavailable)

i solved this downloading from DepotDownloader, it's really simple and you can just download, extract to some folder, right click on the folder, open in terminal, type ./DepotDownloader and paste the command that you copied from steamdb (just select DepotDownloader at the top of the list and click the copy button on the right side of the version you want) make sure to log in with your steam, so after pasting the command, type '-username yourusername -password yourpw', it may ask you to accept on steamguard.

2 - game launch configuration is different from csgo account configuration

go to csgo folder -> steam.inf -> open with notepad and change client version and server version to 2000258

i don't know if the second one works for all versions, but it worked for the hydra operation.

inventory not working in august 9 2014 version, tried setting the client version to 200258, still didn't work, cant equip m4a1s and cz75
