Create an Excel spreadsheet listing all your rolling stock in your Raillworks folder using TS-Tools and Excel
By OldAlaskaGuy
When building a consist or while populating a scenario and you are looking for a specific piece of rolling stock, locomotive, or a particular road name it is hard to remember in what folder these assets are stored. With this searchable spreadsheet you can find where they are located within your Railworks folder.

Instructions

Open TS_Tools
Go To Scenarios tab and open
Select Scenario Properties .xml and let it run
Go to Route Building Tools and open
Select Extract Route Properties .xml and let it run
Go to Edit Assets/Content
Open Assets Editor. Check Rolling Stock Only, Exclude PreLoad, and Default Folders. These are what I select.
Click Add to list. Let this run, it may take a while depending on the size of your assets and computer speed.
After it is finished select Save List, then select save as an EXCEL file. Open Reports then Open Excel Reports, copy and drop the file on your desktop.

Note: you will need of a basic knowledge of Excel to configure your new spreadsheet.

Open the new spreadsheet, now you will need to personalize it using tools in EXCEL to set text style, size, column size and width, sort , and add headers or any other personalization you desire. When done editing save as a Excel Workbook. In my version I have also added alternating colored rows for easier reading.

To search for an asset, highlight one or all the columns you want to search, Use Ctrl+f and insert the name of what you are searching for e.g CN, caboose, or GP40-2. Then select find. Select next to find the next choice.
When using the editor you can know what asset folder to add to your asset drop down list.
As a precaution you can use conditional formatting to lock the document from accidental changes. If while exiting the document you get a warning to save changes select no.

I have been using this for about 5 years making changes through the years. It's hard when you have little or no experience with Excel and you need to Google everything for how to do something. Thanks for your input and friend invite.

This is extremely useful. Thank you. Also good for route builders, who would leave the 'Rolling Stock Only' box unchecked. Everybody should create spreadsheets using this method, as it is the best way of finding the assets you need.
