Just recently, user ABRAoriginal posted a post in discussions about how to fix broken ones, after Update #2 achievements (namely all story achievements, as well as «Fail Zombie»).

In short, in the root folder of the game there is a file «autoexec.cfg», which contains the line «host_thread_mode», which the developers from the ZOOM team for some reason decided to include, although there is even a note from the TrashMasters themselves: There are still a lot of glitches. Turn it off.

Well, I think, as everyone has already understood, we just need to disable this option.

To do this, you need to go to the root folder of the game. If you don’t know how to do this, then you need to go to Library on Steam ➔ right-click on the POSTAL III icon ➔ select properties ➔ click on the button, installed files ➔ then click browse.

Then you need to go to the folder P3 ➔ CFG ➔ and open the file «autoexec.cfg» using Notepad or another text editor.

Then you will find a line there called «host_thread_mode», in which you need to replace the number 2 with 0. And after this achievements will work as they did before the patch.


P.S. Please note that even before the patch, these achievements worked intermittently, and if you still have difficulties with any of them, then just read the tips below.

In the patch dated 10/13/2023, 3 broken achievements were removed, namely:

1. «CHAMP WHISPERER» (Kill 50 people with Champ);
   
2. «BIPOLAR» (Change path 5 times in one playthrough);
   
3. «MEGA-SADIST» (Dismember 200 people so that they remain alive).

They were removed due to inoperability from the very release of the game. «Champ Whisperer» and «Bipolar» did not work as intended, and «Mega-Sadist» generally referred to mechanics that simply did not exists in the game, NPC have never survived after being dismembered.

By the way, formally they remained in the game. They were removed specifically from Steam, but if you go to the «Achievements» tab inside the game itself, you will see them there.

[UPD 01/29/2024] In the latest patch, the rest of the achievements were also fixed, namely:

1. «REAL AMERICAN» (Kill 235 terrorists);
   
2. «KAVORKIAN» (Kill 30 old men and women).

More specifically, the achievement «Kavorkian» required you to kill not 30 elderly people, but 30 kill a specific group of protesters people in «Patrolman's Mission #2», and the achievement «Real American» required killing more than Terrorists 235 times, and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rhinoceros.

Most of the achievements in this guide need to be obtained using console commands, so first turn on the console.

Run the game ➔ options ➔ keyboard ➔ advanced ➔ enable developer console.

Next, just press the «~» key and enter the necessary commands.

All commands copy the command in full, along with a semicolon, because this way the game will think that we have enabled and disabled cheats and therefore the game will not think that we have cheated and will not block achievements.

To make it easier for you to navigate this guide, look for the achievements you are interested in using the key combination «CTRL» + «F».

[UPD 01/29/2024] In the new patch, 2 achievements have been fixed, namely «Real American» and «Kavorkian», so they are no longer in the manual.

You can follow the progress of any achievement you are interested in in the «Achievements» tab in the main menu of the game.

At the moment, the manual contains 11 achievements, namely: «Camelback», «Product Recall», «T.J. Hooker», «Sucktastic», «There is no spoon», «Fail Zombie», «Entomologist», «Jack Thompson was right», «Arsonist», «Cat Wrangler», «Eastwood».

In general, the «Camelback» achievement is quite easy, but in comparison with «POSTAL 2», here the Dude clearly has kidney problems, because he urinates very little.

So to save time when getting the achievement, let's use the console command to enlarge his bladder:

1. Load any level (preferably where you are not attacked from the very beginning);
   
2. Enter the command «host_timescale 10» into the developer console;
   
3. Save (press «F6»), piss until empty, reload the save and repeat until victory.

«Product Recall» is a cumulative achievement, but for completing both paths completely, you are unlikely to get it, because cars are extremely rare in the levels. So to get the achievement follow the instructions:

1. Launch «Free Walk» (it opens after completing the game once);
   
2. Go to the parking lot behind «Роrn World» (there are 3 cars in the parking lot, and 2 more behind you);
   
3. Save (press «F6»), destroy them, then reload the save and again until victory.

The achievement «T.J. Hooker» is again not difficult, but it is very long, so using the console command you can save time to obtain this achievement:

1. Start the task «Patrol Mission» #1 or #2;
   
2. Enter the command «host_timescale 3»;
   
3. Save (press «F6»), arrest everyone who is in your field of vision, reload the save, and so on until victory.

Again, the «Sucktastic» achievement is not difficult, but it takes a long time, so to get it faster, use these tips:

1. Launch «Free Walk» (it opens after completing the game once);
   
2. Go to the «Porn World» and go inside (press the «F» key);
   
3. As soon as you find yourself inside, save (press the «F6» key), pick up a vacuum cleaner and suck up all the napkins from the floor that you see, and when they run out, reload the save and so on again.

The «There is no spoon» achievement is again very long, because the effect of taking «Catnip» lasts only 10 seconds, and we need 900. So to get the achievement more easily, do the following:

1. Start the «Diseased Cat Roundup» level. You will immediately be given one can, and next to the start of the level there will be a box containing 5 more. Pick them up and save (press the «F6» key);
   
2. Take the mint on the «Right Mouse Button», then pause the game and turn on the developer console to the «E» key;
   
3. Enter the command «host_timescale 10».

For a few seconds we see accelerated chaos (The Dude will rotate around his axis, pedestrians will move somewhere around 1-2 FPS).

After a few seconds, everything returns back to normal, but the achievement progress counter counted not 10 seconds, but about 100-200. Repeat this action several more times and the achievement is completed.

Note: when the Dude takes mint, the «host_timescale» value in the console changes to 0.2. This change lasts a couple of seconds after which the value returns to 1.

According to my observations, the game counts the progress of the «Fail Zombie» achievement if you die shortly after loading your last save. Therefore, for greater convenience in obtaining the achievement, do the following:

1. Start the mission «Paradise Dream Bridge» and run up to the soldiers with machine guns;
   
2. When you have about half your health left, save (press the «F6» key);
   
3. Die and respawn 20 times when loading a save.

It may take you a lot more than 20 attempts to get the achievement. Personally, it took me about 50 deaths to achieve this achievement.

The problem with the «Entomologist» achievement is that we are given «Bees» only when we complete the evil path, and then in small quantities, but we are not happy with this option, so we will do the following:

1. Start the mission «Cash Mart Robbery»;
   
2. Enter the command «host_timescale 4;sv_cheats 1;god;giveall;sv_cheats 0» into the console;
   
3. Save (press the «F6» key) and throw bees at everything that moves;
   
4. If the «Bees» run out, enter «sv_cheats 1;giveall;sv_cheats 0» again.

To get the «Arsonist» achievement, you will again need to spend quite a lot of time, and keep in mind that a hit with a «Molotov Cocktail» only counts if the bottle lands specifically on an NPC, and not next to him. To get this achievement faster, follow these tips:

1. Launch «Free Walk» (it opens after completing the game once);
   
2. Enter the command «sv_cheats 1;giveall;sv_cheats 0» so that you have the maximum possible number of «Molotov Cocktails»;
   
3. Save (press «F6»), throw bottles at everyone you see, reload the save and repeat until you win.

The «Cat Wrangler» achievement is generally not difficult, but is partly buggy, because kills only count towards police officers, which means we need to kill them. To do this faster, do the following:

1. Start the mission «Cash Mart Robbery». since it has the most police officers in relative proximity to the Dude;
   
2. Enter the command «sv_cheats 1;giveall;sv_cheats 0». This command will replenish the stock of «weapons» and «cats», including in your inventory;
   
3. Save (press the «F6» key) and throw «Cats» at the police;
   
4. If you run out of «Cats», reload your save or enter «sv_cheats 1;giveall;sv_cheats 0» again.

It’s impossible to get the «Eastwood» achievement the way the developers intended. Therefore, we will use bugs:

1. Start the mission «Apocalypse. Again»;
   
2. Complete the level until Hugo Chavez appears and save the game (using the «F6» key) before him;
   
3. Afterwards, start the «Paradise Dream Bridge» level, and load the save again before Hugo Chavez;
   
4. To simplify the passage, you can disable the «AI» ​​at the level using the «ai_disable» command;
   
5. Shoot at the tank with a pistol (if you are out of ammo, enter «sv_cheats 1;giveall;sv_cheats 0»).

By the way, thanks to this bug, you will receive an additional 4 achievements (information taken from POSTAL III achievements guide), namely:

1. «PERSONAL JESUS» (Beat game with zero kills);
   
2. «PETA CHAIRMAN» (Kill no animals in one playthrough);
   
3. «I AM THE LAW» (Complete Good path without falling off);
   
4. «DADDY NEVER LOVED ME» (Complete game killing only males).

You should receive these achievements as you progress through the game's plot in both ways.

However, for some reason the game does not show any of these achievements. And it’s different for everyone, for example, we had a problem with getting the «Ain't Got Соjоnes» and «Do Not Push the Button» achievements.

Also, some users complained that the game does not count the «Repo Man» and «Scofield» achievements.



If you are unable to get any of the story achievements, I can advise you on the following steps:

1. If you die while passing a level, do not load from the checkpoint or your manual save, but start the level from scratch using the «New Game» button in the main menu of the game;
   
2. Try not to kill civilians, and if the game gives you the choice to kill or stun the enemy, then it’s better to stun;
   
3. Do what the game asks of you, don’t engage in any heresy, like looking at textures or objects.

And yes, even after these tips, achievements are not guaranteed to drop. Following these tips, I was able to get the achievement «Ain't Got Соjоnes» only on the 6th try, but following these tips I got the achievement «Do Not Push the Button» on the 1st try.
