I wrote these way back when the game was still in beta. Enjoy a few quiet puffs on this old dream-pipe of mine.

Underwater Orienteering
The player discovers a cache of a few basic supplies, along with a message and compass directions to another resource cache - very helpfully left by another, yet unseen, Aurora survivor.

When this second cache is discovered it also contains more gear plus an additional set of compass directions along with some words of encouragement A series of several more caches can be discovered in this way, each of increasing value.

The quest ends with the discovery of the mangled body of the benefactor.

Very tragic.
Air Pump Conundrum
The player finds an abandoned locker on a sea ledge containing a modest supply cache, plus a clue to an even greater a cache nearby.

Skilful construction of an air-pipe network allows the player to purge a flooded cave from below. This allows opening of a pressurised door within the cave, concealing a second more valuable cache.

Bingo!
Ancient Bathysphere
After decoding an alien data fragment, the player learns of a ruined glass bathysphere, dropped in from orbit long ago. In fact this vessel is actually encased within the so-called 'meteor', ordinarily discovered at the bottom of the meteor crater (although its true nature may not be apparent at first).

It is unclear how this happened, but its rocky shell can be cleared using a Prawn suit's drill-arm. Trapped inside the broken bathysphere is another, more ancient Prawn-suit wielding a giant drill-arm (a scary skeleton at the controls).

While the suit cannot be recovered, scanning it rewards the player with the blueprint of a higher grade of drill-module.

Brrr! Brrr!
Executive Seamoth Salvage
Player discovers a unique up-market Seamoth, trapped within some cage-like flora (a giant form of the Verdant Cradle).

Using a laser cutter the main stem can be severed. The encased Seamoth can then be rolled across the seabed using a propulsion cannon. A strategically located moonpool dock may pick up and hold the entangled seamoth so that the player can complete its extraction using the laser cutter.

The reward is a unique model of Seamoth:
- It has 3-axes of rotation (so it can tilt sideways to slip through vertical fissures).
- It can also skip across the surface much like a boosted Prawn Suit (yay!)
- It travels 5% faster than an ordinary Seamoth

Now you're talkin!
Precursor Shuttle Salvage
The player intercepts and decodes am alien distress signal which leads to the discovery of a small alien wreck deep inside the lava zone, and well-guarded by hostile fauna.

After dealing creatively with the hostiles, the small alien sub can be recovered and fully repaired. It operates on-par with the Seamoth but with greater depth tolerance. But it cannot be scanned, therefore it's irreplaceable if destroyed.

Additionally, finding and solving a puzzle box within unlocks an alien robot-crab companion, that will adhere to the outside of the sub's canopy, and can chase off any interested lava larvae.

Very cute.

Good Samaritan
The Problem:
  • A Leviathan Sky Ray has her nest on the mountain island summit. She thinks any Seamoth looks lots like her missing egg
  • She patrols the Island and may seize any Seamoth she notices nearby, on the surface or near the beach.
  • Any seized Seamoth she takes up to her nest. The player can escape and climb down unharmed, but loses the vehicle - soon pecked to pieces by the anguished mother.

The Solution
  • A player can find her lost egg n the Island's upper caves (apparently abducted by the cave crawlers swarming over it)
  • The egg can be returned by dragging it out of the caves with a propulsion cannon, once all the cave crawlers are cleared. The mother Sky ray will seize it, and hereafter her attacks of vehicles will stop.
  • Some time later the Sky Ray egg will hatch. Thereafter a baby leviathan Sky Ray will follow the player anytime he is at the surface, as a kind of pet.
