Prop Control 1.0.1

Description
A lightweight alternative for Prop Anarchy for those who don't want to (or can't) use Prop Anarchy or Extended Managers Library. Written with an emphasis on stability, to avoid the current issues with Prop Anarchy/Extended Managers Library.

Provides the following functionality:
  • Prop anarchy: disable collision checking for props
  • Prop snapping: raise or lower props to custom heights, and attach them to buildings (as you can in the asset editor)
  • Prop precision: stores detailed prop position information for precise alignment of props (the unmodded game has a limited prop position resolution, e.g. making fences impossible to line up correctly)
  • Prop scaling: change the size of props
  • Decal prop fix: correctly display large (above 8m x 8m) decals and enable decal texture tiling (required for some custom decals to display correctly)
  • Adaptive prop visibility distance: customize the visibility ranges of props, including dynamic calculations to permit larger props to be visible for longer distances (disabled by default - see under 'Use' below).

Use with Line Tool for prop line tool functionality.

Change prop colors with Prop Painter Revisited.

Select your props the normal way: either with the in-game prop tool (under Paks and Plazas), or (much better) using Find It 2.

Now includes Move It! integration to change the scaling and elevation of existing props.

Does not include Additive Shader; For Additive Shader functionality, use Visibility Control.

Incompatible mods

This mod will automatically load any savegame data stored by the above mods, except for Extended Managers Library/Prop Anarchy; for those two mods, a new "Remove EML" mod will soon be released to convert their data to Prop Control format.

Use

See the mod's options panel for the available options. Most of this mod's functionality doesn't need options.

The default key to toggle prop anarchy is Ctrl-P. Text will display towards the bottom-left of the screen indicating the current status (on or off) of prop anarchy.

Adaptive prop visibility distance (which extends the visibility distance for props based on their size) is DISABLED by default from mod version 0.9.3 onwards, as it does have a performance impact (because you're rendering more props, obviously). It can be activated in the mod's options panel.

Meta
This mod uses Harmony[github.com] version 2.2 by Andreas Pardeike via the Cities Harmony mod by boformer.

Saves additional prop data in the savefile (obviously), but doesn't alter any savefile structure, and can be safely removed at any time (obviously, any prop precision or snapping placements will be reset to game defaults if you do this).

Safe for editor use - will automatically (harmlessly) disable itself in any editor other than the map editor.

Worth trying deleting these 6 mods also so your 255710 folder is completely empty in order to let them redownload, maybe? Idk.
I feel like I've run into this too but I don't do much detailing so I rarely see it. There didn't seem to be an obvious reason why some disappeared below the terrain and some didn't. They often were the same asset placed in similar spatial relation to the network.

@caddywonkus Exclude in Skyve does work, yes. It's not just disabling, but excluding them from being loaded at all (disabled mods are still loaded, which is why they can cause issues.

It really is bizarre. I don't have a Steam link for the bug (there are resources on Discord), but basically the Steam Workshop will sometimes:
1. Delete files that you're still subscribed to, and/or
2. Re-download items that you're no longer subscribed to

This has been a bug with Steam for around two years now. We were hopeful it would be fixed quickly, but....

Unfortunately, I'm running out of ideas, too. Maybe post your output log in case there's any clues?

Thanks for your time on this. Hadn't verified, but did now. No joy. Virgin, vanilla map (Black Woods).

Just tried: I put Steam in Offline mode and nuked the workshop folder, except for the six 123### folders for the mods above. With it offline nothing else is in the 255710 folder. Even cleared out the "mine" addons in appdata\local\.. to be sure. Side-Q: does exclude in Skyve "work"? I remember pre-Skyve there was an issue, I think you posted about it a few times, where the game would still load "disabled" mods. Not sure if that's still a thing, but jic I did this to be sure there's nothing "there" at all but the mods listed.

It's still happening.

I don't doubt it's a me-problem, but at this point I'm at a loss as to what to try next, short of reinstalling the game or even Steam itself, but I have no confidence that'll do anything.

I'm not familiar with the bug you mentioned; do you have a (good i.e. informative) link to more info about it?
algernon  [author] 16 Jul @ 11:40pm
@caddywonkus That's not what should be happening. I've just tested here, and that's not happening for me. I've also gotten somebody else to test, and likewise for them.

So, it's almost certainly something with your specific setup, but not sure what. Some initial steps:
- I assume you've already verified your local game files with Steam?
- Have you made sure that the workshop bug that sometimes re-downloads stuff you're no longer subscribed to hasn't hit and secretly installed a now-obsolete mod?
- Does this happen in a new test city started with only those mods that you've listed and only using vanilla assets?

Only this enabled plus: Find It, Move It, Skyve, and dependencies (Harmony, Patch Loader).

Anarchy on: place props on lot, on building (snapping), on road
Anarchy off
Upgrade nearby road (same width)
Poof: some - not all - of the anarchy'd props disappear, mainly the ones nearest the road. Hidden, can claw back with MoveIt, but hidden.

Is that indeed to be expected, or am I missing something? Wish: anarchy'd stuff stays put despite nearby updates, and with anarchy off, the usual "hide it for me" happens when I build/zone. But it seems "once on, leave it on, and pre-clear land" is what I'm left with. My real problem: I don't see a lot of others saying that OR complaining about the same "poof" experience. If it's common either everyone just accepts it, or nobody's as lazy as me and hates having to pre-clear.

Had the same issues with prior prop anarchy mods (all gone now, including EML).

I'm wrong about something. Please tell my dumb/lazy butt what. ;)

@algernon ; Yes, it was for tree control mod and when I wrote to you I probably misread the title of the mod. Thank you for your help and your hard work. It is,in fact a problem with the anarchy mod
algernon  [author] 9 Jul @ 3:35pm
@Sup Okay. Make sure to verify your local files with Steam first, as most likely it's a corrupted game install and/or the Steam Workshop download bug.

I've had the same error as below (I think; I can't even read the error message because the game lags so much after the save loads...) both in my current save game and in an empty new save.

May I send you (@algernon) a friend request so that I can share a Ufile.io link privately?
bakepotatou 1 Jul @ 11:05am
I got the same error but can't uopload til later
algernon  [author] 1 Jul @ 5:11am
@pablopmorales99 Please don't try to copy-paste error messages into the discussion; they mean nothing on their own. You need to share your FULL output log via a temporary file-sharing website.
