The Pokemon Master has come to the challenge the Spire!

The Pokemon Master is a new character mod for Slay the Spire, and is based largely on the Pokemon TCG, with some influences from the video games when I need to fill some design space.

Mechanics:

This character uses pokemon cards that increase in power over the course of the battle. When you play a pokemon card that can evolve, the card is temporarily removed from your deck and the evolution is added to your discard pile for the rest of the combat. Some exceptions apply.

Utilize a variety of pokemon types, each with their own synergy pools. You will be assigned two types of pokemon at the start of each run. This can be modified in the mod config menu.

Magnets, largely tied to the metal type, are 0 cost status cards that provide 1 energy when played. They retain and do NOT exhaust on play. Good for a quick boost of energy when you need them, but be careful you don't end up locked!

Supporters. A translation of the supporter cards from the Pokemon TCG: they fill in the gaps in the character's otherwise glaring lack of card draw, among other things. Notably though, you only gain the benefits of the first supporter player each turn.

A totally unique capture system! Capture any* enemy in the Spire with the starting relic.

A partial focus on Status cards. In place of the energy cards from the Pokemon TCG, I've designed many of the cards to interact with Status cards in various new ways. They aren't strictly a downside anymore!

Discard synergies! Do you feel like the silent doesn't go far enough with the discard package? Keep an eye out for Dark types! The way they handle discard can add some new tactics to your game play.

Damage over time. Do you enjoy the turtle game play? Try building up a powerful block deck with stall tools like the new Resistant and Barrier - new mechanics to reduce incoming damage; and Burned - a new mechanic that functions similarly to Poison.

STRENGTH: BIG MUSCLES, HIT HARD.

A new look at the Exhaust pile as a usable zone. Some cards check your exhaust pile for damage and there are more ways to manipulate your exhausted cards.

Fishing! Fish for a solution to your current problem, or hunt for the Red Gyarados! Just don't forget the Bait!

Strong access to Stun. This character has significantly more access to the stun mechanic than other modded characters do. It wouldn't be Pokemon without Paralyzed, Sleep or Frozen!

To represent the extra prizes from EX, GX, V cards, etc, a keyword "prized" has been added. If you take damage while you have this debuff, you'll take an additional burst of flat damage. But don't worry too much, Prized cards are quite powerful and usually worth the downside!

@Duncan Beoulve i do think the character is a little strong in some respects, but I've mostly moved on to other projects. I don't really have a strong desire to balance all the 500~ cards and interactions in the mod anymore.

I do appreciate you feedback though!

Also another thing that might need adjusting is Spark. spark alone is STUPID good, 1 damage for 4 spark is not even a down side its more of a boon then anything because it helps with some relics i feel if you want spark to be balanced like at ALL you need to make it
" For every 2 spark you have take 2 damage "
that way there is a penalty for stacking to much spark that FEELS impactful. i hope my comments don't sound negative or anything i just want the character to feel fun but also not be an easy button.

So i wanted to throw my 2 cents in here and give some opinions on this mod, First and foremost its a very fun and neat mod and is cool that there are so many options and that every run is different cause of the randomized types you can have, it makes runs feel divers while also still allowing you to build solid decks. However.
I feel like this character is very easy compared to most because of some of the easy to set up combos and the fact that this character has so many Seek cards, i know there are a lot of those in TCG but they make getting your combos a little TO consistent, Eevee is an absolutely BUSTED early card to start with and with more seek to help it a 0 cost seek card that gets you 2 cards of your choice is Crazy! i feel like there needs to be more of a downside to this card cause prized for 6 more damage is child's play when i can dish out 17 x 8 on the First Turn.

I've added full googly eye mod support, and a very substantial amount of support for the pokemon regions mod! I may complete it at some point, but we'll see

Ok im just going to put this out here real quick you NEED to tone down duraludon V like put it to 5 energy or 4 but make it Rare cause a 3 mana uncommon that deals 120 AND 8 resistance is BUSTED strong like most bosses MELT with those numbers, id personally make it like 3 mana 50 damage 5 Resistance and you cant attack next turn but that's my opinion, would make clear debuff effects very handy to have and its still a SOLID card without them.

I just want to thank you for making a Mod that has really given me a lot of enjoyment. For me this mod feels on the same Level or close to, that of that Packmaster. I understand the apprehensive feelings about updating it, but I would say, keep at it till they hit it. I would love to see Fairy become added and what you could do if you decided to add more cards or went to a scope outside of the TCG. Either way, the Evo Mechanic is very fun and I love how every one at the start feels like a different one thanks to the Pokemon Type you start with. Thank you so much for all the hard work you and your friends and your growing community has put into this. <3 :hollowknight:

@Cpt.Haxray I'm not sure what I'd have to do at that point. I have a public github for the mod that can be accessed through the discord server, but I'm fairly sure if I received a cease and desist and then uploaded it somewhere else, I'd be in a lot of trouble.

Hello!
I would advise making a backup of your mod somewhere other than for the Steam Workshop. Nintendo has been going after several Workshop addons with nintendo Content on various workshops. The Gmod one is particularly famous but they also went after Fraymakers, some TF2 maps, and some SFM addons.
