Starting off
Choose the Desolate Island map

Do the usual cleanups - right now it does not really matter where you're aiming for, just get to stage 2. Of course, this is way easier on the easy mode of the game.
Stage 2
At stage 2, its time to do the climate cleanup - to get rains and to clean the rest of the map (and for additional points if needed).

At this stage, you can start to choose where you want the perfect placement to occur.

For this map, I decided to have it at the bottom, and so I avoid making all the biomes in that area so as not to mess it up while getting to Stage 3.

Even better, the placement of the jungle is a straight line and allows for one side to be jungle.

Showing you where I want the perfect placement to be

Putting biomes in the rest of the map to get to Stage 3 without affecting the Southern part where we shall get the achievement
Stage 3
At this point I build a beach, which covers another side of the place to put the Animal Observatory (2 down, 2 to go!)

[VERY IMPORTANT STEP] I build a random building on the spot to "reserve" the space, and to prevent the other biomes from overwriting it.

Placing wetlands down - 3 down 1 to go!

AND THE TRICK OF THIS - wetlands and mangroves are different biomes! No more messing around with the damn corals or rock hopping tundra stones or kelp forest cliffs.

Converting some of the wetlands to mangroves (its really easy because u can choose where to place it and make sure that one block beside the reserved space remains as wetlands.

Proof of concept
Achievement!!!
Now all you need to do is use a recycler to remove the building you placed.

Put the animal observatory down... (this DOES NOT WORK if you put it before getting all 4 biomes!)

Congrats! You've got the achievement!

Enjoy and have a great day folks!

Observatory is back and it has no range limit so it can be placed anywhere.
I just got the achievement on the Hill & Dale map, which only needs three biomes (plus river), so we can ignore the rocky scrublands in our targeted area. The biomes and animals on this map also have no real dependency on temperature or humidity.

1. You need a wetland and a big forest with just a touch of fynbos connecting the two. These should all be bordering the same river.
2. The forest needs to have multiple rivers running through it. I recommend having the rivers meet at a T/X junction inside the forest , and builds lots of animal bridges.
3. Build the Animal Observatory to forcibly migrate any missing animals.
The Bears, Deer, and Wolves will probably overlap themselves naturally since they all like to take up fairly large areas near forested rivers. Same for Beavers
The geese happy take up a huge area around their wetland, and the frogs are happy as long as that wetland borders the fynbos.

That's a shame. Have updated the guide to reflect this. :csdmeh:

Not Working anymore >< there's not animal observatory with the last update!

I don't think you can get the achievement in the tropical region with the updates, since the tortoise can't take any water squares. Hill & Dale and River Valley seem to be the best maps to get the achievement, not sure if any others are possible

There has been a recent patch for achievements - do let me know if this guide works again!

I'd half given up on this achievement before I found your guide. Worked like a charm! Thanks!
