How to fix out of memory error in theotown + theotown not starting / launching

This Tutorial will help you with out of memory error in theotown, it should also be able to make the game start. (As of 28th of January 2024 it is still relevant, just use the most recent verion of JDK.)
If it is outdated, it will probably stay that way for some time.

Instal Java JDK 17 or higher (Use most recent one on the website)

Click the settings icon

3 - Step
Click the lowest text like in the image
It will be called difrently in english, just navigate by where the buttons are.

4 - Step
In the window with launch settings type -Xmx*m
for 4 GB of ram type : "-Xmx2048m"
for 8 GB of ram type : "-Xmx4096m"
for 16 GB of ram type : "-Xmx8196m" or "-Xmx8196m"
for 32 GB and up of ram type : "-Xmx12000m"
To check how much ram you have on Windows type system in the serch bar. It should open settings app with amount ram being visible.

Check if the game files are corupted or missing
Steam has that built in
And That should fix the issue
As a last resort reinstall the game (Make backup first). Not recomended.

I can't use OpenJDK to launch games on my M2 Pro, but the Oracle version of Java works fine, and I don't even need to go through the process of setting memory.

tried everything, still not working at all for some reason
