Extensive Information Overhaul (LWOTC - Mod Jam)

Description
IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS MOD AS MISSING - IGNORE THIS IS JUST INTERNAL MOD NAME CHANGE

A mod for the Mod Jam Collection with a simple goal - tuning up the description of weapons, perks and stuff to be more accurate, more honest and letting the player make an educated decision without having to get burned when you realize X or Y perk was a bad, bad idea to take.

Why does this mod exists ?
Because i got sick of this crap that perks lie, obfuscate for no reason or do different things than what they state in their description. Plus i also wanted to introduce some sort of in-game help guide so you dont have to run for Discord to discover how many resources you need for a MEC soldier.

This is simply the case of too many chefs in the kitchen sink that is Mod Jam, mod creators have massively different aproaches towards localization, some, like Iridar have quite good perk descriptions that tells you all the relevant info, but some, esp makers of large perk packs like Mitzruti dont out of shere volume of them.

Well, i tasked myself, given i played Mod Jam Collection for like a thousand of hours already, to unite these mods, get them in line and in general, my main goal is to let the player make an educated decision FIRST, BEFORE THEY MAKE A PERMAMENT CHOICE, that would leave them pissed off.

I personally hate "hah gotcha !" noob traps and give you read this so far, you are probably hater too.

What does this mod do:
TLDR - NOT ALL PERKS ARE CHANGED FOR SAKE OF CHANGING THEM, ONLY WHEN ITS RELEVANT AND WORTH CHANGING.

  • More Perks tell the player what they do and possibly, stat buffs they provide, some perks hide this for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason.
  • Certain perks obfuscate what they really do, like Killer Instincts (which is written in a way that doesnt actually reflect how the damage is calculated, normally its written as crit damage booster, but in reality it boosts TOTAL DAMAGE, which is why it hits so hard.
  • More mechanics of certain things are explained, for example Assaults stungun, that it stuns for actions, NOT TURNS and this is an important distinction if you were to face enemies with more than 2 AP or AP recovery mechanics like Rulers.
  • Specific Mod Jam changes that dont exist in LWOTC are now stated, like gauntlets always hitting and burning.
  • Some LWOTC features are now clearly displayed in case of you not knowing already, like that hunker down no longer puts out burning.
  • Commanders Archive now has entries for all new classes and concepts (under tactical concepts, research and resistance factions), explaining new features and also giving a small guide on each MAIN class and what to expect of them.
  • All weapons are now streamlined in their naming, normally they have fancy names but they can obfuscate what the weapon really is, now all weapons, just from engineering alone are distinctive enough that you never even have to look at its description, you will be able to mass buy them as your squad needs it within seconds. No longer you need to snoop out what the hell is Cycler, now its named as Plasma Battle Rifle !.

Future
I am not done with this, this mod will be updated over and over in the future as i fill more perks with goodies and there are other more major things i want to do

  • Adapt new additions to the Mod Jam Collection
  • Add gene mod unlocks to Research and Dev projects + make Gene Mods more informative to the player
  • Add damage/main feature showcase of items BEFORE you buy/research them, for example a grenade project in the workshop will display like (This grenade will cause 6-8 damage in 3 tile radius) or something like Laser Rifle will display its damage just from engineering bay alone, no need to inspect it in the armory.
  • Possibly, adding pictures to the UFOPedia if you are using it
  • Well, constant corrections, given i can be wrong and i can also write nonsense that i dont realize from confines of the SDK kit, so feel free to grill me in the comments and on LWOTC Discord for being just as full of ♥♥♥♥ as i blame some perks for.

Grammar and Syntax
Look, i aint Yankee, i am from the Czech Republic, so expect things you see that arent exactly written the best way. I did a surface level check with google so its mostly the syntax.

I do have some volunteers on Discord, who are native english speakers helping me with making this mod better, so overtime i guess this mods grammar and syntax should improve, look, my english shoud be good enough for average steam user, as long as i get my point across in the text, i succeeded somewhat, you can always join up on LWOTC Discord.

Merist - For contributing with script and localization lines

and many, many mod creators, this section is getting long already so i will list them in mod requirements as to give credit from which mods i took lines from before transforming them.

Requirements
Really, if you are playing the whole collection, you dont need anything extra.
You generally should have everything from it, but you dont have to, given these are just txt. changes, they are harmless so missing 2-30 mods from the collection wont crash your game, it might just miss context if the changes refer to specific enemies or classes you might not even have.

You dont need the UFOPedia mod at all, but it makes the archive less of an eye sore to look at so i would strongly suggest you to take it.

Nope, this mod only changes localization, it wont care about mods installed

Though, if you are using TJ, consider using the new version of this mod, which is the version that is being updated as its a straight upgrade.

Do I have to install Combined Workshop and Labratory for this mod to work properly? Thanks for the mod!

Yup, if you have the unbind missing mod (Which i guess you should have for MJ), you can use it, otherwise its harmless

Internal name change due to Mod buddy (The tool for making and publishing mods) being obnoxious cunt that refused to update this mod and i had to jump through some hoops to get it working, something along the line of SDK kit no longer liking the mod name and it being too long. (Only now its a problem, after a year)

Hey,I'd just like to ask, there seems to have been an update today/yesterday. Is there a new dependency now? My save says that it's missing "ExtensiveInformationOverhaul(LWOTC-ModJam)",is it safe to ignore?

Heads up people - Iridars engineering stat display is now part of the MJ+ collection so i will be reworking my mod during this weekend to shuffle localization texts around as the stat breakdowns are no longer nessesary whatsoever, not only its more accurate it also lets tactical display part of the mod visible to the player where i can cram all the factoids and such...

Okay, thanks! And sorry, its 2am and i was trying to get this finished before i blinked and found out it was 4am lol

@Tal'Raziid
Actually nope, i even stated it at the end, given all this mod does is touch localization (aka text, not game code or config files), its irrelevant if you have the mods or not, so feel free to just ignore it, it wont just make some sense in game when the localization will refer to concepts or classes that dont exist in your own game.

but otherwise its 100% safe to ignore if you for some reason, want to play MJ collection, without playing it whole

Are all of the pre-req mods *actually* required?
