Random Shutoff

Description
This mod adds new sandbox options that let you specify an exact day range when both the power and water should shut off!

Mainly made for multiplayer where the number is by default 14, and can only be changed to another static number. Bring the fear of having no idea when your utilities will shut off to your friends in multiplayer!

Should also work in singleplayer if you'd like to make your own custom range instead of the presets provided!

Should be safe to remove from saves, in singleplayer your power/water shutoff dates will be stuck to whatever this mod set them to, in multiplayer your power/water shutoff date will revert to whatever the server sandbox default is (this will bring the power and water back on if your default is higher than whatever the mod rolled). There are also no re-rolls, even if you un-install and re-install the mod.

Should hopefully work fine and not cause any problems but I don't really have that much of a clue when it comes to modding, so if it borks your save file somehow then my apologies. You should probably make a backup before you install this mod, just to be safe.

Also probably incompatible with anything else that changes the sandbox settings mid-game, but I haven't tested it. (With the exception of my restore utilities mod , there is built-in compatibility for that)

Recently confirmed to be incompatible with Sandbox settings sync fix

Now supports Polish, thanks to Angelard
for the translation! :)

if you're local hosting (pressing host in the main menu), make sure you *also* enable the mod from the mod menu in the main menu.
if i remember right (i've not hosted a zomboid game in over 2 years i think haha), the sandbox settings for them won't appear in the host menu even if you enable the mod there, has to also be in the main menu

Where can I find the min/max values in multiplayer? I'm currently looking under the sandbox settings and no luck. Thanks!

last i checked it worked in mp, yeah

a correct config would have you set, for example, min power shutoff date at 16 and max power shutoff date at 20

your power would now shut off on either day 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20

if it isn't working like that for you, something is broken. but as i said last i checked it worked fine and it's been a year since the last time i updated it, so probably a mod incompatibility

so how the fuck does this work in multiplayer? does it even work as intended in multiplayer?, what does a "correct" config look like for multiplayer

when you start a new game in singleplayer, select "Custom Sandbox" playstyle. then go to "Random Shutoff" in the list. from there you can select the earliest and latest day the power and water should go off.

of course, don't make the latest day earlier than the earliest day, or something will probably break.

for local host mp, use "manage settings" then scroll down to near the bottom under sandbox. the "Random Shutoff" tab should be down there. if you don't see it, remember to enable the mod in the mods menu on the main menu.

thanks for the kind words :)

Thank you Jack for this one. Oh how much I missed that. Great small thing but it can change so much when you start a new run on dedicated server. Great and BIG little addition to the community. :spiffo:
