If you enjoy the assets, please consider donating[www.paypal.com] or supporting me on Patreon[patreon.com], supporting me also means supporting future development of Water Park 1 and Water Park 2 in Cities: Skylines 2 along with other fun and exciting packs I have ideas for. Patreon perks include having an input on future assets, early access, WIP content, exclusive perks such as Patreon voted 'Cinematic Cims' character packs and more. As a thank you, the first 5 Patrons and Contributors who start supporting me, I will create them a 'Cinematic Cim' prop of their choice to put in game.

Mods
As we are modding the functionality quite a bit in order to create Water Slides from a Train service, mods are recommended to have the assets function as intended.

Please consult the full mods list on the Official Guide for Water Park 1 to ensure you have all the mods needed.
Water Slides - Functionality Explained
The Water Slide assets have been created using the in-game ‘train’ functionality. This will allow citizens to take the slides as a form of public transport.

- Water Slides have replaced Train Tracks.
- Water Slide stations (enter only) and Pool stations (exit only) have replaced train stations.
- Cims sliding down the slides have replaced train vehicles.

We will be setting the slides up (in theory) the same way as we would a train service, just with a few special assets and tricks to have them functioning correctly.

Slide Stations
Slide Stations are your entrance for the Water Slide. They function as a train station. Citizens will only be able to enter the transport and not exit.

There are 12 stations to choose from, a variety of heights, left and right variations, including 6 XL stations, featuring up to 8 potential slides on one station. See the full asset list on their workshop pages.

*Note more Slide Stations may be added following release. Sub to the Water Park 1 collection to stay notified.

The Slide stations have the Teal Water Slide network as default included. If you want this to be a different colour or style, it can be changed a few different ways:

1. With the 'Railway Replacer' mod - Choose a different network before plopping.

2. RON Network Replacer (simplest and most flexible method) - Plop the Pool station, then open RON, select the teal network, then substitute the network for your choice.

The naming for slides is as follows. Water Slide FT (Flat, Teal), Water Slide FY (Flat, Yellow), Water Slide TG (Tube, Green), Water Slide TP (Tube, Purple). ST Left/Right means Station Track Left Entrance or Right Entrance.

Pedestrian access
The Slide Stations do require pedestrian access to allow cims to use the asset as a form of public transport. The platform cims will need to access is located at the top of the stairs, but you can create a pedestrian road or path at the bottom, on the nearest side to the steps.
Pool Stations
The Swimming Pools are technically functional train stations, which is why they have been named 'pool stations'. They are set up in a specific way to only allow citizens to exit the vehicle, and not board. This is so citizens can enter the public transport at the top of the slide, and exit on the steps of the pool.

There are 5 different size pools to choose from, including a double pool and triple pool station which you can connect multiple slides to.

*Note more Pool Stations may be added following release. Sub to the Water Park 1 collection to stay notified.

The pools are empty of water when plopped, we will simply add in-game water using my 'Fresh Water Source' assets. Although the assets are ploppable buildings, technically they have been created from a variety of networks which will allow us to add in-game water.

Invisible networks

The pool stations have a series of invisible networks inside the asset. The purpose of the invisible networks is to continue the network from the end of the water slide, under the water and into the part of the asset which is the functional 'train station'. You will see the cim vehicle move under the water and towards the steps.

Train Station - exit only
The pool station asset includes a 1 unit long 'station' network, which is placed where the steps of the pool are located. This network should only allow citizens to exit the transport.

Pedestrian access
The Pool Station does require pedestrian access to allow cims to use the asset as a form of public transport. The platform cims will need to access is located at the top of the stairs. You can either use a pedestrian road and create a segment alongside the stairs, or use a pedestrian paths and connect this up to the edge of the pool nearest the stairs.
Water Slide Networks
We will use Water Slide networks (which function as train tracks) to connect the Slide Station and Pool Station and to allow us to create our own unique Water Slides.

In the sections below I go through the full set up process and some tips and techniques I use when creating Water Slides.

There are two different styles of Water Slides, Flat and Tube.

Flat style slides are more suited to straighter slides as they are quite shallow in height. There are Teal and Yellow slides to choose from.

Tube style slides are more suited to curved slides and come with more variations like, Tubes, Open, Left and Right Embankments. There are Green and Puple slides to choose from.

With each style you can also mix and match different variations and colors together to provide more interest to your slides.

*Note more water slide networks may be added following release. Sub to the Water Park 1 collection to stay notified.

Invisible Water Slide networks

There are also 4 invisible water slide networks, each with different function.

- Invisible Water Slide - Visible Vehicles - This one-way network is used inside the Pool Stations. The network is invisible and the vehicles are visible.

- Invisible Water Slide - Invisible Vehicles - This one-way network is used to complete the loop from the edge of the pool, back to the top of the slide. The network is invisible and the vehicles are invisible. This network is visible on the games info view 'traffic' panel for ease of use.

- Invisible Water Slide - Station Track Left - This invisible network has pedestrian access, therefore functions as a train station with the platform on the left of the one way network. Vehicles will also be invisible on this track.

- Invisible Water Slide - Station Track Left - This invisible network has pedestrian access, therefore functions as a train station with the platform on the right of the one way network. Vehicles will also be invisible on this track.
Vehicles
The Water Slide vehicles are technically trains, but they look like cims. A male laying down and a female sitting on a rubber ring.

There are a few variations included:

- Capacity 1 and capacity 5 versions. Each come in two capacities, 1 is an ideal starting point, but due to the low capacity your slide stations may become over crowded due to the wait. If Slide Station becomes overcrowded then change to the capacity of 5 or make the route less popular for citizens.

TIP: As the slide vehicles have low capacities - 1 or 5 citizens at a time, I've found some Slide Stations can get quite over crowded if the route is too popular. So i'd recommend avoiding using the assets on a through route for citizens. Instead try and keep the number of citizens who want to use the assets for transport low by having them provide access to a few unique buildings, parks or crowd generators only.

- Forward and Reverse versions. Occasionally you may see a cim going backwards down the slide. This cannot be helped with how trains sometimes spawn. So there is a reverse version of each to change to if your cim faces the wrong way.

You can also change the color of the rubber ring and the males swim shorts by changing the color of the ferry line.

How to create a Water Slide
IMPORTANT!!! Please ensure you have the mods listed on the Official Guide and have followed the set up advice. Mods such as Advanced Building Level Control and Hide It need certain options ticked in settings. Without some mods the assets will not function as intended.

1. Choose and plop a ‘Pool Station[http//Pool+Station]’ where you want the swimming pool to be placed. (You can choose the network style and colour for the water slide before or after plopping using the RON network replacer mod).

2. Place the 'Fresh Water Source[http//Fresh+Water+Source]' asset in the center of the pool. Select the vanilla water pipes and connect the input and outputs together. Once connected, speed up and play the simulation until the pool fills with water - be patient this can sometimes take a little time. (For more information see workshop page for Fresh Water Source.)

3. Choose and plop a ‘Slide Station[http//Slide+Station]’ where you want the entrance to the slide to start. (You can choose the network style and colour for the water slide before or after plopping using the RON network replacer mod).

4. Use the Water Slide networks to create your slide, connecting the Slide Station and Pool Station in one downward direction. There are a variety of colors and styles to choose from. You can also alternate between different segments. See my video for some tips and techniques on creating better Water Slides.

Steps 1-4 can be done in a different order, which I prefer personally. You can build your slide out of networks first then once you have the exact slide you want, you can then position and plop the Slide Station and Pool Station. They will snap to the ends of your water slide networks.

5. Using the 'Invisible Water Slide - Invisible Vehicles' Network finish the loop of the network, connecting the far side of the pool station to the back side of the Slide Station network. Curve any sharp turns, don't do 90 degree turns, otherwise it won't function. This network is completely hidden from view - to help you see the network I have made it visible on another layer of the games UI, so if you go into the 'traffic' info view you will see this network clearly. See image below.

6. Create a train route between the Slide Station and Pool Station, starting at the top of the slide. The station track on the Pool Stations is located at the top of the stairs. Choose one of my vehicles which look like cims to go on the line. If you are using Improved Public Transport 2, I would also suggest adding at least 5 vehicles to the line which will mean you will regularly see people sliding down the slide. Changing the color of the train line will also change the color of the rubber ring and swim shorts on the cims.

There are two types of vehicles to choose from. A female with a rubber ring, and a male laying down. Both of these come with different capacities for how many citizens they can take, 1 citizen or 5 citizens at a time. Suggest starting with 1 citizen capacity and if the slide is really popular to use by cims, then you can increase this to the 5 capacity. There is also a Reversed version, where the vehicle is facing the wrong way. If you find that when the vehicles are on the slide, they go backwards, then switch the vehicle to the reverse version, and they'll face the right way.

7. Using TM:PE, change the speed limits for the Water Slide networks, invisible networks (inside pool) and station networks to be 10kmph. If left at default 60kmph then the vehicles may not stay on the track on tight curved segments or steep elevation changes. The invisible network with invisible vehicles which loops back to the start can stay at 60kmph.

8. Provide electricity. The building doesn't require power to function, but I have included prop lights to make them look great at night, and the lights need power.

9. (OPTIONAL STEP) If you want citizens to use the slide as a form of Public Transport you need to provide pedestrian access for citizens to the Slide Station and Pool Station with either pedestrian paths, roads or pedestrian roads. As shown in the image below, you need to connect Pool Stations near to the steps and Slide Stations near the bottom of the stairs. Citizens will only be able to enter at the Slide Station and Exit at the Pool Station.

Providing access to citizens is easy but getting them to want to use such a short public transport is another challenge. To solve this I have created 2 sets of pedestrian paths/roads. These include networks like slow paths (1/4 and 1/8 speed), one-way only paths and no pedestrian access paths. By using these in a specific way or by blocking access, you can help influence citizens to prefer to take the transport to get to their destination.

10. (OPTIONAL STEP) You can add animated prop water to the water slides using Intersection Marking Tool's Prop Line feature. I have created ready-to-go presets to use. Using IMT, click on any water slide segment, then navigate to the presets menu. In here you'll see 5 presets.

- Straight - To be used on straight segments
- Left 1 / Right 1 - To be used on gentle turns 1x1 units or wider turns
- Left 2 / Right 2 - To be used on tighter turns less than 1x1 units.

Choose your preset and apply this to the segment. If the animation is in reverse, you can flip it around before applying. TIP - apply the straight segment to ALL versions of this network type to save time, you can then tweak curved segments after.

Water Slide Networks - Tips and Techniques
In this section I will share some tips and techniques I use when creating water slides, which will hopefully give you a little help when start using the assets.

FAQ
Q: This is a lot of information, where do I start?
A: I would recommend watching my Video Guide on YouTube. It's the easiest way to learn about the assets, once you get it, it's easy, but there are a few steps to set them up. The video will help you better understand the assets, to learn how to use them, and for some tips and techniques on usage.

Q: I cannot connect a route between two stations?
A: This is likely either two reasons. 1. You have a network facing the wrong way - these are one direction only networks. 2. You may have a 90 degree or sharper turn somewhere on your network. The maximum is below this. Remember the assets are still trains, trains cant do 90 degree turns.

Q: The water isn't filling up?
A: Check your water sources. View them with the water info view overlay. Is the input and output connect to each other? are they lit up blue like in my above picture (this means they're turned on)? Also, make sure you dont connect these to other sources or pipes - only connect the input and output to each other and nothing else.
Known Issues
  • The pool stations can bug out when used with MoveIt. Avoid rotating or moving their position in MoveIt, just plop them down in position. Whilst the pool stations are buildings, they are more like a collection of networks - quays, train tracks and terraforming networks packaged up in a building. I think MoveIt just struggles to cope with the 'networks in building' thing and finds it hard to keep up, thus the lag and glitches. Nothing I can do to fix.

  • This isn't necessarily a bug, but just how water works in game. But water can leak out if there are lower terrain levels below where the Swimming Pools are placed. Advise using my pool stations on flat ground or if there's leaks then use them to create a pond or pool - so use them to your advantage creatively.

  • On very few occasions, I have seen citizens queuing up at the pool station and exiting at the slide stations. This normally has happened after i've moved a pedestrian path near one of the stations. For some unknown reason, when a pedestrian path is connected to the slide station, moving it away and then back to it can flip the direction of where citizens queue up. If this has happened to you try moving a pedestrian path again - away and then back. This is very rare from my experience.
