Lancer

Description
The Lancer is a Tier 1 Attack Submarine; it is smaller than the Dugong yet larger than the Barsuk, being available from the start of the game for the highest price. It comes with a Flak Cannon, Depth Charge Tube and Medical Fabrication device. It is meant to provide an early means for new crews to get practice on heavy hardpoint weapons and allow them to learn the ropes with higher-priced equipment on subs in a smaller and cheaper vessel more regularly available in the early game.

--LORE--
In [ERROR], the Coalition Navy put out a tender for a cheap attack submarines capable of mounting heavy external weaponary. The Coalition Navy was being ran dry by the cost of the Humpback submarine, and desperately needed a submarine that could fill out escorting and act as a member of a larger fleet. Usually, this fell to the venerable Dugong, however, such a vessel was heavily limited by it's lack of crew quarters and harder hitting weaponary.

Agrona Subworks was a relatively new submarine contractor in this period, it had not produced much beyond pre-existing blueprints on order and had came up with various prototypes, none of which going anywhere. Upon this tender, Agrona came out with it's first design, the Lancer. The Lancer is a perculiar design, it is smaller than a Dugong, yet houses most systems found on dedicated larger ships such as depth charges, a flak cannon, crew quarters and medical fabricator.

The design was instantly recognised for it's comparitavely low cost, small size and low crew usage with a vicious package. Despite it's obvious flaws such as a singular large ballast in the least active front part of the submarine and electrical issues, it won the contract for the program. Agrona Subworks was in no position to produce the Lancer on the scale the coalition asked for, even with all their yards being tooled for it's production. As such, much of it's production went to other yards and it is a common sight across much of Europa.

Despite it's fairly poor flood prevention and electrical faults, the Lancer is popular with new crews for it's advanced systems usually only found on ships way out of a crew's bank balance in an affordable package. The installed washing machine and bunks certainly make it popular with those serving in longer missions.

Today, it can often be found in service all over, and a staple of most respectable Coalition task forces. Though production ceased in [ERROR], it has still yet to give up, as many smaller stations use the blueprints for their own shipyards, being a powerful vessel within the scope of their industrial capablities, often as an order-only and lacking the flak cannon which made it famous
