There are two types of mods for Hatred: Total Conversion and Map Pack

Subscribe > wait for steam to download > enter game > click user content on main menu > total conversion > select mod in the mod list > click apply > let game restart > done

and click reset active tc to return the game to default

If you have any activated total conversion, reset it first(click reset active tc in the total conversion menu), otherwise the game most likely won't let you play it

Subscribe > wait for steam to download > enter game > click user content on main menu > map packs > select map in the mod list(left) > select the map you wish to play in the map list(right) > done

To return the game back to default, read the Total Conversion section

Don't want to beat the game again from start to finish? Want to play survival mode but rank has been reset and not going up? Transfer your progress from the main game to mods in the following way

Only works for Total Conversion

Your save files are located at Hatred\Hatred\Saved\SaveGames

1. Download the mod and launch it, let the game create a new fresh save of the mod

2. Exit game, go to Hatred\Hatred\Saved\SaveGames

3. (Bunch of numbers).sav is the main game save file, which should be larger file size,
depending on your progression the file should be larger than 1kb, ~4kb if you have unlocked everything

4. (Bunch of numbers)(Mod name)_(Bunch of alphabets).sav this is the mod's save file, a new fresh save should be 1kb

5. Copy the file name of the new fresh save, paste it somewhere then delete the file

6. Copy your main game's save file to somewhere as backup, copy another one in the folder, and rename it to (Bunch of numbers)(Mod name)_(Bunch of alphabets)

7. Done

8. If steam asks you to copy the steamcloud file to local or update the steamcloud's file, choose to update it (this was from years ago, steamcloud might be different now)

Should work as long you replace the smaller size file with the larger size file
but always backup your main save file first

Q: Can I get achievements while using mods?
A: Not all of them. You can only unlock "You should see a shrink" (play for 50 hours)

Q: Why is my survival rank not going up and why did my progress reset?
A: Using mods creates a new save file and disables ranking up in survival, copy your main game save file to the mod instead

Q: My survival mode's character selection is broken
A: Seems like a common issue after using the mod "Survival Overhaul", try this method provided by one of the Survival Overhaul authors bellow:

A: Read the 1.666/1.333 QA first. If that doesn't solve your questions, ask the authors in the mod page's comment section politely

Q: Can't download from workshop
A: Try restarting steam and/or verify the game files

Q: The file I'm downloading is much smaller than what it says on the workshop
A: That's normal

Q: Steam just downloaded a workshop update! What is it?
A: Check the "Last Updated" section on the workshop front page, or check which mods you are subscribed to > go to the mod's page > check update date that is located under the mod's brand image to see if it was updated recently.

To check what was updated, locate "Change Notes" which is also under the mod's brand image > click view to read the patch notes if the author bothered to write them
