Beskrivning

American forces are trying to capture our airstrip. Take into the skies in FW190 and help our ground forces defend our lines.

American soldiers can't expect the hell that awaits them. Use your cannons, machine guns and bombs to stop their assault on our positions.

In this scenario, your task will be to defend three roads leading to your airport. Destroy enough American forces to stop their further attacks, then finish off the remaining units to end the battle.

In-game progress saving is disabled. Instead, the system of respawning fighters and the ability to return to base after being shot down is available.

In addition, "Spotting Assist" is available as an option. When enabled, it will help players who, like me, cannot live without modern sensors. It will display icons in the game world indicating the position of enemies, making it easier to track them through the thousands of bushes of Normandy.

What about the P-47D?

If you rather play with other warbird available in Spearhead 1944 you can try my scenario All Mighty Jug in which you go deep into german controlled territory in your P-47D Thunderbolt.

Current Spearhead Performance

The current state of performance for Spearhead 1944 (or specifically it's map) doesn't seem to be the best... I tried my best to make the mission as smooth as possible but as they say it is what it is. Looks like some drops in FPS are unavoidable at the moment.

Procedural generation is used in the mission to make it fresh and interesting on every playthrough.

Enemy vehicle types, their starting locations, movement paths, as well as the time of day and weather, are randomized.

COOP mode is available for up to 4 players.

Takes somewhere between 20 - 30 minutes to complete the mission.

I don't think the FW190 currently is a butcher bird in the DLC, for it only has two 20mm cannons, lol.

I played it again today, and this time I carefully adjusted the engagement distance. I found that the FW190 machine gun has excellent anti armor capabilities. After I selected the target - widen the distance - turn around at half throttle - open the first level flap - and accurately use machine artillery to destroy every half tracked vehicle. As for the missile throwing skills, I learned from the Thunder of War: basically, maintain a 30-45 degree dive angle, and then drop the missile at around 500m, the effect is quite good. Finally, there is the air combat phase, as the air AI performs mediocrely in DLC, basically firing crazily before anyone who catches up to 6 o'clock。
Great scenes, I like these huds and compasses, they are perfect for solo play.

Half tracked vehicles make half of the map an air defense zone. Moreover, there is no archiving function, and the shaking aiming makes it difficult for me to hit the half tracked vehicle. Overall, it was quite fun.
