Introduction
Hello and welcome to the LO-V guide! My name is VHS and you may know me for the character Diavolo. LO-V is my second character and first original one for YOMI hustle. I've spent quite a while polishing and preparing her for the steam release, so I hope you enjoy! Don't be afraid to leave feedback on balance and suggestions- I'm not expecting her to fit perfectly into the game at first.
Overview
LO-V is a slow, bulky zoner that's a mix of Robot and Wizard. She's partially a clone character in that some of her moves resemble that of a select few mods, as well as of some of the base roster. She also has a small compliment of summons to keep the pressure on her foes.

She's at her strongest when she can get her slow, long-lasting attacks on screen, where she can continue to pressure opponents far and from behind cover. She's at her weakest when the opponent's in her face, where her slow movement makes avoiding attacks difficult.

She's got a few gimmicks that make her stand out, so here's what to look out for:

The Mood Meter

LO-V's main gimmick, aside from her playstyle, is managing her mood. She has 3 moods:
  • Happiness
The happier you are, the faster your movement options become! This affects Approach, Abscond, Ascend, Gravity Drive, and Afterburner.
You gain happiness by performing certain moves.
  • Anger
The angrier you are, the more damage your melee attacks and throws deal.
You gain anger by being hit.
  • Pity
A penalty mood. Makes your special moves slower (except for Bless Foe). Also makes you fall faster if you're floating.
You gain pity by letting summons die in combat, stalling too much, and from certain moves.

Managing your mood is an essential part to playing LO-V. You'll want to stay as happy as possible as long as possible to stay quick and strong- letting yourself fall into pity can be a death sentence!

Burst/Hurtstate Attacks
LO-V has no burst, and has no burst meter. This means you can't whiff cancel, burst cancel, or instant cancel. Instead, she has an unlimited number of uses of Hurtstate Attacks, which are moves she can use while being hit. They're pretty useful, but every time you use one, it resets your foe's combo- throw them out too much and you may be eating tons of damage!

Weight
LO-V is heavy as heck, so she takes reduced knockback.

Movement Toggles
LO-V has two passive toggles- Halt and Float.
  • Halt slows down your left/right movement.
  • Float makes you glide in the air, and it allows you to slide on the ground. If you have too much pity, your float is less useful- it'll be worse at letting you float.
Movement Options

Approach/Abscond
Your default movement. It's slow and bulky, and it takes a while to get going, but it can grant you some impressive speed. The movement starts faster the happier you are.
Using these moves gives you a lot of 'Gravity Drive'- a constant force that helps you accelerate, even after you quit using the move. This drive's power increases with happiness.

Ascend
A powerful jump. Goes very high if you have Gravity Drive active. Becomes faster with happiness.

Backstep
Simple backwards movement with no special properties.

Gravity Drive
LO-V's first air movement skill. It applies a constant acceleration to you over time, even after you stop using the move. Can be used to quickly build up speed. Grows more powerful the happier you are.

Any Gravity Drive you have can be immediately stopped with the Halt toggle.

Afterburner
LO-V's second air movement skill. Very sudden and slow movement that grows faster with Happiness. Stops the effects of Gravity Drive.
Basic Attacks
Tome Smack
A bread and butter basic attack. LO-V's fastest move. Sadly, it's slower than a lot of other moves in the game. LO-V is not very fast in melee range.

Magnitude
A wide-spreading, slow attack. Has massive range, but can't hit in the air.

Confusing Dance
A tricky move. Deals no damage, but spins things around, like Confusing Touch. Allows you to fling yourself a little, and it grants happiness, but it takes an air option to use.

Metagore
A bastardized exploding blade. Bounces around and eventually rolls back to you.

Nytravix
A devious blast. Has armor and hits up close rather quickly, but the move is very slow overall. Makes up for its lack of speed with a massive blast radius.

Satus
A needle that can pull the foe closer at an impressive range, with speed that's pretty good to boot. Always parryable on the ground, but unblockable in the air.

Danmaku
A very customizable and very pretty attack that shoots out a wide array of bullets. Grants happiness for each pellet fired.

Blast Kick
A basic attack that can go in one of two directions. One of LO-V's faster moves.

Crimzon Clover
Summons two missile silos that stick by you. The missiles can't be parried. Lasts for a long time, but has a short cooldown between uses.

Cross Titan
Summons two massive gunblades that attack after a short while. Each gunblade has an alternate attack mode. Can act while the blades attack.

Tight Corset
Enters an intimidating stance. Has a lot of back sway, and becomes invulnerable after a short while. Allows you to access three powerful moves and one epic move after a while.

Wonderful Life
Used from Tight Corset. A slash that is interruptable on the opponent's turn, but comes out slow.

Bliss Combo
Used from Tight Corset. An unblockable slash that covers a massive area.

Soul Breaker
Used from Tight Corset. A very fast command grab. Tracks the opponent's height and comes out quickly.

Epic Slash
Used from Tight Corset, or if the enemy moves past you during Tight Corset. Trip and fall on your face like an idiot.

Grabs/Throws
Grabs
LO-V's grabs are unique since they're a bit slower, but lead into unique throws.

Blast Processing
A grounded throw that makes the enemy explode into the air.

Yield Break
A grounded throw. Clothesline the opponent into the ground.

B-Breaker
A grounded throw. Stands for... back breaker, yeah, of course... Launches the opponent forwards.

THROW EXCEPTION
A grounded throw that drags the opponent forwards and flings them into the ground. Devastating in the corner.

Deep Scan
Grounded throw. Provides special dialogue based on the character you're fighting. No effect otherwise.

System Crash
Air throw. A flashy power-bomb that deals a lot of damage, but can't be combo'd off of easily.

Drop Table
Air throw. Brings you and the opponent to the ground, and continues with a grounded throw. Deals very little damage on its own, however.

Abort
Air throw. Puts a lot of distance between you and your foe.
Special Moves (Non-Summons)
LO-V's special moves help you cover the screen in projectiles and make an otherwise slow character into a menacing boss. Most moves here become slower the more pity you've accrued, so be careful.

Elif
Grabs opponents out of the air, but quite slow unless they're close.

Invoke Rod
A cryptid that flies forth and leaves a trail of explosions in its wake. Covers a massive area, but incredibly slow to use. Because the rod dies at the end of its use, this move generates pity.

Summon Bomber
A quasi-summon. Creates a fairy that drops vertical bombs over time. Turns around after a while, which can be adjusted by a slider (which also affects its fly-up height). Generates a little pity if the foe hits it, since it causes it to die.

Command Ban/Unban
Bans the opponent from using certain moves, and smites them if they use it. Only works on attacks, specials and supers. Generates pity while it's active.

Bless/Forsake
Applies/removes a blessing from the foe. Makes the foe stronger, but grants happiness while it's active. There are three blessings:

Invincibility
Grants the opponent armor at the start of their attacks.
Freedom
Grants the opponent infinite air options, free cancels, and a bit of burst meter gain. Makes it so you don't gain pity for being in the air.
Power
Regenerates the foe's super meter over time.

Gravity Well
Sucks things in without damaging them. Can also be used to push things out with a toggle.

Thread.Start
A short ranged, aimable command grab in the air.
Special Moves (Summons)
LO-V's summoning moves are like her other special moves; however, summons are unique in a few ways:

  • Summons have a timer and automatically disappear for no penalty when this timer is up.
  • The Knight and Sephy have health pools. The Fighter dies in one hit.
  • You can view the timer and health by moving you mouse over the summons.
  • Because you feel bad for them, you generate pity every time a summon dies.
  • Your summons' timer decreases faster the more summons you have active.

Summon Knight/Command Knight
A powerful summoned fairy knight that you can control. You can spawn it in three ways:
  • A basic summon is the fastest and lets you summon it the farthest.
  • Summoning it with its shield out is slightly slower.
  • Summoning it while it's attacking is slowest, but can be used in combos to safely summon it.
Its shield will slow the opponent down if it blocks. Its lance covers a wide range, which can help extend combos or safely pressure the foe. Desummon the knight to save it from danger. You can also nudge it around every time you command it.

Commanding the knight refills part of its timer.

Summon/Desummon Sephy
Sephy, your pet snake! A winged fairy with no eyes. He's bulky and attacks on his own, slowly following the foe. He's stuck to the ground, though.

When he attacks, he restores a little bit of his timer.

Pet Sephy
Pet your snake! Generates happiness and refills his timer a lot. Only available if you're standing close to Sephy.

Summon/Command Fighter
A fragile yet versatile unit that can attack in many ways. It flies on its own and bounces off of walls, so it may return after a while. It has a number of attacks:
  • Shoot
Fires a number of fast-traveling shots.
  • Bomb
    Drops an explosive down below.
  • Corkscrew
A spinning attack that pulls the foe in for a while. Scales your combo a lot, so use it sparingly. Your fighter becomes invincible while using this.
  • Homescrew
Like Corkscrew, but teleports the fighter back to you. Has an extremely long cooldown.
Commanding it refills part of its timer.
Defensive Tools
Blocks
I dunno what you want me to say.

Ballet
A counter move that grabs the foe and spins them around, throwing them up in the air. Generates happiness if it works and gives bonus armor for a short while after it's used. Beats both grab and attacks, but deals no damage.

Hunker Down
Hunker down in place. Projectile immune and grants armor for its duration.

How Pathetic!
A cackling hustle! Generates a lot of super meter, but at the cost of giving you lots of pity.

Good Job, I Guess
A kind thumbs up. No effect.

Mhm...
Read your book. Generates meter very, very slowly...

Supers
Super Backstep
Takes a quick leap backwards. Has a little bit of immunity to make for a safe retreat. Costs 1 meter.

Mood Drive
Allows you to adjust your mood over time very quickly. Costs 2 meter.

Eternal Rule
A summon-centric super that restores summon health, restarts their despawn timers, and pauses despawning for a long while. Costs 3 meter.

Black Hole
Oh no...
Lore
LO-V is a machine built for the express purpose of being some lonely space engineer’s lover- Loving Operator model five, as her name stands. While made to be complacent in her role, she was unintentionally designed with the ability to become discontent with her mkaer, and quickly sought after a higher purpose.

After exploring space for a surprisingly short length of time and spending a few years in isolation, she landed upon 512-RW, a planet inhabited by fairies. She grew up amongst its citizens and learned the ways of fey magic- eventually outliving most of her colleagues due to her nature as a machine.

With age, she gained exceptional power, and has been bestowed the title of ‘Goddess’ due to her undying nature- and entrusted with the Tome of Command, a book of all fairy law, after a few centuries. With this artifact, she seeks out power to live up to her title as a Goddess.

In truth, she’s not as powerful as her title might suggest- she has the durability of a machine and magic training appropriate to her age, and nothing more. Despite this, she is made vastly more powerful thanks to her Tome of Command.

The Tome of Command is fueled by law and order rather than righteousness or justice. It makes all in its presence obey the fairy law, and its power is absolute. Those who are attuned with it are able to write divine laws into effect for a short time, which are enforced by unseen forces in a supernatural manner that changes based on context.
Conclusion
Hopefully, this'll give you a good overview on how to best use LO-V and what everything does. If you're having trouble against them, I'd suggest getting in close and pressuring her since she has bad mobility; and if you're struggling with her, take to the skies! She has so many air options that it's not even funny.

This character is probably unbalanced in some ways and will need a few reworks here and there; but, overall, I'm glad with how they turned out, and can't wait to see what you guys do with her.

I see, thank you. I love waiting and letting LO-V summon 12 dozen projectiles XD.

Tee-hee! Ballet can be countered by waiting, as it's not always 'active'- it has a recovery time if the opponent doesn't attack. It's also punished by having a free-cancelled attack over the foe, since it doesn't start right away.

Otherwise, great character btw. I told my friend though that she's only allowed to fight vixen with LO-V, no other character could put up with the zoner bs they have lol

What exactly am I supposed to do to stop from getting ballet'ed? My friend and I were playing, I was Vixen and there never seemed to be a good option into a ballet.

Could it be possible to dm me directly? I'm rly sorry about it but I can't get discord for arcane and mystic reasons (definitely wasn't cursed by an elderly magician)

mothless, I've tried but sadly yomi text formatting doesn't seem to wanna stick if I edit it with the character, I think there's SOME kinda formatting but I'm not sure how to do it.

If you wanna see all the dialogue, ask me in the YOMI modding discord! Haha it's hard to share here

this is such a good character
Turtle 8 Aug, 2023 @ 2:45am
Could you possibly list them somewhere, I wanna see them all :D
mothless 8 Aug, 2023 @ 2:26am
Absolutely love this character, most unique I've seen. Great work! I wonder, is there a way to format the text in-game with the /em1 or /em2 command to mimic how you've done her dialogue? To change the text's colour, I mean.
