The primary purpose of the recovery buoy is to automatically recover vessels from the abyss of the ocean that are otherwise unreachable and can only be salvaged from the map.

By using a recovery buoy, a sunken ship can be brought back to the surface for repair and recovery rather than having to salvage or abandon the vessel. In campaign this can be especially useful as vessels too far away cannot be refunded during salvage. Recovering would allow you to repair and potentially move the ship closer to base or otherwise utilize it for your goals.

Recovery buoys can also be used in shallow water to help stabilizer the vessel near the surface in order to make repairs easier and increase the chances that the vessel will be upright when fully repaired and on the surface.


Note: the deeper the vessel, the longer it will take to recover.

The recovery buoy is an item that can be purchased at the Portus buy shack. Once in your inventory a Nautikin can deploy it in the water. A recovery buoy in the water will automatically activate and attempt to recover the target vessel.

• Recovery buoy must be in or above the water
  
• Recovery buoy must not be obstructed
  
• There must be a vessel to recover nearby

In some cases the recovery buoy will not deploy if the requirements are not met. If the recovery buoy colliders with an obstruction while moving it will be destroyed.

Recovery buoys will automatically target the nearest underwater vessel.

You can also use the recovery buoy on drowned Nautikins. If the Nautikin is down in the abyss it may take a bit for it to rise to the surface. You can also use buoys to prevent dead Nautikins from sinking.
Note: the buoy will always target vessels first over Nautikins even if the Nautikin is closer.

Recovery buoys be added back to your inventory when deflated using interaction mode. When you revive a Nautikin that is still attached to a recovery buoy, the revived Nautikin will deflate the buoy and it will be placed in their inventory (if possible) so that it is not lost.
