Why weren't they flagged as suspicious by the game before?
The beta version of People Playground 1.27 was released recently
And in this version zooi (developer of People Playground) updated the protection system.
He marked the System.Reflection library as potentially dangerous.

Now I will briefly explain what this library is, how it is used by us and how it can be used by scammers.
First of all, let's start with what System.Reflection is?
Reflection is the process of type discovery at runtime of an application.
Let's take for example an object and it has a script. The script can have different variables, both public and private.
Public fields can be changed from anywhere in the code (i.e. any mod can change this field), but private variables cannot be changed so easily.
So how do we use System.Reflection?
Our main uses are:
  • Changing private fields (sometimes it's just not possible to create a mod without changing something in the game, so we change some variables for the mod to work)
  • Calling private methods (People Playground scripts also contain private methods that we need for the mod to work).
  • Calling methods that are not in People Playground (sometimes we need to load our own libraries that are not in People Playground. For example, Soft Zooi uses the Unity.2D library to change the sprite in real time relative to the bones of the object, we will not go into too much detail)
  • Calling a method that opens links (you've seen links in our mods, yes, they are opened using Reflection).
  • Creating/deleting/reading folders or files (sometimes we need to create a folder with mod configuration and other things, or read some file that is required for the mod to work). You may have noticed the Mods/01STUDIO folder in the game folder.
  • And other things we can't do without this library.
How can this library be used by scam?
Probably the only way they can use it is to download and run malicious programs and scripts.
So how do you know if the malicious code has a mod that you are going to give permission to run it?
  • The code in mods People Playground is usually in an open state, in the folder ...\steamapps\workshop\content\1118200 are all your downloaded mods, you can safely open the script and read what it does.
  • Make sure that the mod is not reuploaded and comes from a trusted author
  • Read the comments under the mod

We are currently developing a system to automatically approve our mods if you have authorized at least one mod.
What does that mean?
For example you have installed Combat Mod and allowed it to run - then if it finds our other mods on your computer - it will confirm them if they are original. This is done for your convenience so that you do not have to check each of our mods manually for fake or reupload.

I hope I have answered this question. Also you can always download our mods and read the code, we never hide or obfuscate the code of public releases.
