AK-12量产型（GRAU编号6P70）是在2016年设计定型，因此有时也被称为2016版AK-12，以便与与2012年至2014年的AK-12区分开，因为2016版的AK-12是从零开始重新设计的，是2015年AK-400项目中的一部分。这个型号也于2019年底至2020年初开始有俄军部队装备。
