DeI - Realistic Missiles and Projectiles
Friends, bowmen, javelinmen, lend me your ears! Are you ready to dive into battles where every arrow loosed, every javelin hurled, and every stone thrown are not just weapons, but deadly forces to be reckoned with? Then this is the perfect DeI submod for you!

Realistic Missiles and Projectiles offers an authentic, carefully crafted, physics-based overhaul of the projectile mechanics of Divide et Impera. Meticulous historical and contemporary research, attention to detail, and calculations have gone into the development of this submod.

Special thanks to KAM 2150 for providing extra information, historical sources, and helpful consulting! It’s much appreciated!

Features:
⚖️ Physics-Based Projectiles: No one escapes Newton! This submod brings realistic simulated physics-based calculations to the battlefield, turning your projectiles into true forces of nature. Every missile’s stats have been recalculated with speed, mass, and kinetic energy in mind. Calculations were carried out based on a 1.2mm iron lorica segmentata tested against a variety of projectiles of different sizes at varying angles of incidence. The greater the kinetic energy, the greater the penetration power. From a lone self-bow to a barrage of ballistae, witness newfound destruction driven by real-world physics!

💥 Maximum Kinetic Impact: Break even the mightiest of charges! Utilize new battlefield tactics with formation-disrupting effects. Projectiles now possess the power to stagger, stun, and knock down enemy formations based on their kinetic energy. Need to pepper and break apart a formation from afar? Bring forth the slingers! A barbarian horde at the doorstep of your battle line? Javelinmen, forward! As troops fall, battle lines will become entangled and chaotic. Use these new mechanics to redefine the shape of the battlefield and send shockwaves through enemy ranks.

🏹 Dynamic Missile Warfare: Cry “Havoc!”, and let slip the arrows of war! Embrace a dynamic battlefield where each projectile type now fills unique tactical roles, opening up new avenues of attack for you and foe alike. See below to learn more, and know that whether it be javelins that deliver debilitating shield-crippling effects, to bows that offer precise long-range fire, every skirmisher offers a unique path to seizing victory.

Projectile Types:
Bows – From longbows to composite bows, these tried-and-true piercing weapons are an excellent well-rounded choice to field in your armies. With heavy draw weights, they are excellent at piercing through leather, chainmail, and in some cases, even plate armor. Although they can’t stagger formations as effectively as other projectiles, they are excellent at providing precise, long-range fire.

Bamboo Longbows – While not as sturdy as their wooden contemporaries, bamboo longbows offer excellent range and accuracy with their lighter arrows, as well as excellent killing power against lightly-armored targets. What they lack in armor-piercing capability, they more than make up for in massed fire.

Crossbows – Crossbows offer the best of both worlds, bringing a combination of excellent range and significant penetrating power to the field. These weapons have much longer reload times, but easily compensate with their powerful projectiles.

Slings - From scavenged stones to dense lead bullets, slings are excellent at providing sustained, indirect fire against targets. They pack an incredible punch with high amounts of kinetic energy behind each shot, disrupting battle lines with ease and decimating unarmored targets. Despite being less accurate than bows and being unable to directly pierce through armor, they are still incredibly dangerous.

Javelins - The kings of close-quarter projectiles, javelins offer excellent armor-piercing and shield-piercing capabilities. Calibrated to a range of 30 meters, they can stop a charge in its tracks, dismantle organized formations, and even cripple enemy shield effectiveness, at least for a time. Their short range and poor accuracy makes them vulnerable to long-range missile fire, but once in position are extremely lethal.

Soliferrum Javelins - Javelins made of pure iron, these heavy projectiles are a favorite of the Iberians, and are even deadlier than their standard cousins. Able to punch through enemy defences, soliferrum javelins debilitate enemy shields, and provide the perfect opportunity for follow-ups from infantry while enemy battle lines are in disarray.

Pila - The most effective and dangerous javelins of the ancient world, the Roman pilum is unmatched on the battlefield. Excellent against armor and shields alike, their unique construction allows them to easily pierce through and completely disable enemy shields, becoming almost impossible to remove before being charged by Rome’s finest. Don’t underestimate these deadly precursors.

Throwing Axes – Modeled after the Francescas of later years, throwing axes are effective at causing chaos in enemy battle lines, lacerating tendons, limbs, and shields with ease. Although not as damaging to shields as thrown javelins, their ability to cut, slash, and maim the soldiers behind them heavily cripple their mobility, making them easy prey for troops to hunt down and rout.

When i do the testudo formation i can see my roman soldiers being pushed by the arrows like they were rockets and dyng so easily. I know is a problem related to base game (vanilla) because of the hp system. Is it possible to fix this so anti-proyectile formations are not useless?
