Characters and their abilities
Alright, so lets get into it. First off, lets take a look at the characters available to you as soon as you get the game.

VexWrecker is a midfielder with 2 abilities that really support that position. His secondary is s speed buff that buffs a teammate, as well as himself. If this ability is used in time with a big push to the goal, or when the game starts, you can seriously out position the other team. Vex’s Ultimate ability is a projectile that causes the puck to go flying if it hits in the general area of it. Again, this supports Vex’s midfielding capabilities, as he can single handedly stop a push or stop a pass if this power is used correctly.

Overall, Vex is a really good character for new players to choose, as well as a incredibly good midfielder.

Negotiator is a defender typically used to play goalie. There isn't much to say about this one, as anyone playing defense will most likely play him for his invaluable Ultimate ability of being able to teleport back to the goal, making some really clutch saves. His secondary ability is a claw that pulls him to the puck, knocking back enemies. His main weakness as that he is insanely slow compared to the strikers and midfielders, so I would not recommend going for a push with him.

Vengeful Star is the first striker you will be able to use, but she also makes a good midfielder if you’re team needs one. Her secondary ability is a speed buff for the puck, making it move quicker and making it harder to intercept or block. Her Ultimate ability is a speed dash, great for going for the puck after a reset or dashing past defenders for a goal. She moves a bit faster than Vex, but can still be outran by stalker. Star also makes a great midfielder, using her dash to block shots, then using her puck speed buff to either pass or just fling the puck to the other side.

The following champions are not unlocked by default, and will take some work to get

Stalker is an unlockable striker, and is my favorite character at the time of writing this. He is a great all rounder, being able to play almost any position if needed. His secondary ability is a small period of invisibility, amazing for intercepting passes and blocking shots. Stalkers Ultimate ability is a Blink or teleport that instantly moves him a short distance, though he cannot carry the puck while doing this (Protip: You can circumvent this by passing it to yourself. Just shoot the puck then blink in front of it.)

Another reason to play Stalker is that he is one of the faster characters in the game, being able to outrun all defenders and some midfielders.

Nitrogen Queen is an unlockable defender that is by far the most annoying (In my opinion) to play against. This is not because she's overpowered or anything, its just because I like to go fast and she counteracts that. Nitrogen Queens whole point is to slow down the enemy offense, making her a great defender or midfielder. Her secondary is essentially the opposite of Vengeful Stars, slowing down the puck and the person carrying it. Her Ultimate, is a circular field where all players and the puck are slowed dramatically. (Protip: Vengeful Stars puck buff ignores this field altogether)

Teamplay, and some basic positions
On to the teamplay mechanic. If any of you guys have played a MOBA like League of Legends or DOTA2, then you guys know that there is a bit of courtesy there when you pick your champions. You wouldn't pick 5 ADC’s in League of Legends, so similarly, you shouldn't pick 3 strikers and midfielders in A:CE. Thankfully, this is issue is minimized by having 1 of each position being a available to you right away. In almost all cases, you should have a midfielder, such as VexWrecker, a striker, such as Stalker or Vengeful Star, and a defender, such as Nitrogen Queen or the Negotiator. Having a presence constantly at your goal is, in my experience, absolutely vital. You have no idea when the other teams Striker will make a dash for the goal, so you sort of always need someone there. A setup I like to use is to have a defender at the goalie, midfielder on the goalline, and the striker playing the gap between the goal lines.
The importance of communication in competitive play
Having a balanced team is awesome for matchmaking, but if some of you guys want to get real competitive teams together, you will need some serious communication. Use Mumble or Teamspeak to communicate, so you all know what's happening and when to coordinate a push.
How to play positions, and what characters play them
Now lets go in depth with the positions and how to play them, starting with the simplest, yet the hardest, goalie.

As a goalie, you do not want to play super close to the goal, it makes it really easy to juke you and score. Play off the goal a bit, and the angles for the attacker will be much smaller, making the shots harder. This position will almost always be a defender character like Negotiator or Nitrogen Queen.

Now, midfielder. Your responsibility as a midfielder is to help stop any push the other team might make, as well as to set up your striker for a goal. You play a sort of “support” role, buffing your teammates and slowing the enemy. This position can be played by characters like Nitrogen Queen or VexWrecker.

The Striker is the final position I will be mentioning, and it is the position I play for my team. The strikers job is to go for goals when there is an opportunity, put pressure on the other teams defender, and also to lead the charge when your team pushes. Striker is played by fast characters like Stalker or Vengeful star.
Events, and how to take advantage of them
Something I also feel I should mention are the events. There are currently 3 events that I know of, each having their own unique effect on how you play. The 3 events are as follows:

Bouncy Wall : The walls turn blue and the puck will bounce off of them with an extremely high velocity. This often has the consequence of bouncing the puck into a goal if nobody manages to grab it.

Ice Field: The whole field turns blue, and friction is decreased drastically. This makes defending really difficult, and is a good time to push if you have puck control.

Left/Right Winds: Wind blows the puck left or right, making shots and passes curve that direction. This can also be used to curve the puck past defenders, for a cool goal or pass.
Thanks for reading!
So. this is my guide for now. I plan to add to it later as I can document more things, like implants and new characters, as well as screenshots and videos for the skills. Feel free to add anything I missed in the comments, or critique my guide.
I want to welcome all the new players that will be joining us in the next few weeks!

See you on the CyberField!

Oh yea and his basic ability just helps blocks enemy passes near the goal is what I use it for, oh and if you can manage it quick bounce of blocks from shots made at the goal which is a bit harder to pull off.

Dude, Where is my Sentinal? He is a wonderful Defense and his walls really help out his job. He is still slow but his ult will mess up any high speed character by practically making the ball inaccesable letting your team catch up if they are far away and also blocking a pass that would lead to sombody making a shot at the goal from somone like Vengeful Stars ball speed up.

A captain smoke guide would be nice, don't really know what to make of that guy. and maybe you should put in ways to push on ice, such as acceleration genetic mod(gives you grip and speed, works quite well) and vengeful star's ultimate.
Sincerely, Cpt. Gr3yb34rd, an admiral of a goalie.
