Welcome to Kill The Crows!

The player character; Isabella/Isabelle

It's a simple arena shooter set in the supernatural west.

Basic movement is with the WASD keys.

Shoot is set to the left mouse button.

Reload is set to R.

Dodge is set to Space.

Showdown, the time stopping super power that allows our heroin to execute shots quickly and accurately, is set to right click.

Secondary fire is set to the middle mouse button.

PEACEBRINGER

Reload Time:
1.6s

Rounds:
6

Secondary/Special:
None

Flavour text:
The first handgun used by Isabelle. Although a commonly seen model, it was favored especially by sheriffs due to its high reliability. It is the sole heirloom of Isabella's family.

Unlock conditions:
None

Notes:
Useful all game thanks to its quick single round reloading speed. I would rank this 3/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

THE CRIMSON

Reload Time:
1.2s

Rounds:
8

Secondary/Special:
Reloads all 8 rounds at once from a speed loader

Flavour text:
A ceremonial Revolver once used by a long-lost cavalry. It was wielded by a boy Isabella encountered in the wastelands. The boy who saved Isabella's life handed her the gun and vanished across the Crimson Horizon.

Unlock conditions:
Defeat a boss.

Notes:
I'm on the fence about this one. Its 8 round capacity is nice and you would think it's reloading speed would be the best in the game but I don't think it is. Since it reloads all of its ammo at once you are left with an empty revolver for a long time. The single round loaders at least give you one round to shoot when you're in a bind and you're spamming reload. I would rank this 6/8.

POCKET CANNON

Reload Time:
1.7s

Rounds:
5

Secondary/Special:
Each shot can pierce through up to 3 enemies at once.

Flavour text:
A revolver with a cylinder and barrel modification to accommodate rifle rounds. It was wielded by the infamous outlaw who engaged in a duel with Isabella. This revolver was the spoils of that duel.

Unlock conditions:
Reach 200 kills.

Notes:
Not a bad revolver but not one that I would use consistently. The penetration seems like a overpowered perk but it doesn't go through cover and only travels through 3 enemies at once. Useful until you unlock the Royal Gunsmith's Custom and then it's over shadowed by the shotgun function. 5/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

ROYAL GUNSMITH'S CUSTOM

Reload Time:
1.9s

Rounds:
6

Secondary/Special:
Under-barrel shotgun secondary fire that can kill as many enemies as are in it's cone of fire. Reduces your movement speed while reloading.

Flavour text:
A double-barrelled revolver that fires shotgun shells from the lower barrels. It bears the mark of a royal gunsmith lost to time, disappearing alongside the kingdom. The gunsmith, upon observing Isabella's left eye, crafted this revolver in silence.

Unlock conditions:
Defeat a boss with your final bullet.

Notes:
This is the one I usually use. It definitely has its downsides. You need to occupy an equipment slot while using this so you get a decent speed while reloading. The reload in itself is very slow, even with single rounds. I feel like its capacity to kill at close range out weighs it's detractors but you might think different. 1/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

WITCH'S NECKLACE

Reload Time:
3.1s

Rounds:
15

Secondary/Special:
HUGE ammo capacity in the form of a cartridge belt feed system. Lower accuracy.

Flavour text:
A revolver with a cartridge belt and a large magazine. It was gifted to Isabelle by a witch secretly living within the mines. The witch, who had a fondness for liquor, had struck up a close friendship with Isabelle. Along with the revolver, she gave Isabelle an eye patch, designed to conceal her cursed eye.

Unlock conditions:
Get 300 kills.

Notes:
The spray and pray option for revolvers. You have a large magazine but your accuracy suffers. Maybe worth it with dual wield to just spray bullets everywhere; However, not being able to reliably hit what you are aiming at is as annoying as it is deadly. The only bonus is that it reloads rounds one at a time so you can get off quick shots if necessary. 7/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

THE PARTNER

Reload Time:
1.2s

Rounds:
3

Secondary/Special:
Shoots shotgun shells.

Flavour text:
A revolver designed to fire shotgun shells. This weapon belonged to a bounty hunter who had a habit of murmuring to his trusty sidearm. When a deadly wound took its toll, the hunter gave his steadfast companion to Isabelle and fell into an eternal slumber.

Unlock conditions:
Get 150 kills without using Showdown. You can use the Dual Wield Showdown to unlock this. It makes it much easier.

Notes:
Do you like the alt-fire on the Royal Gunsmith's Custom? This is just that. The spread is really nice but that comes with a drawback: the distance is lacking and you only have 3 shots. You will find that you can just hit enemies at the edge of the screen but that's in very specific circumstances. Not a bad revolver, especially when Dual Wield is equipped. When using it with Showdown, it shoots regular projectiles so no need to worry about the distance issue. Make sure to equip the Leather Bandoleer because you are going to be reloading from empty quite a bit. 4/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

BIG IRON

Reload Time:
1.5s

Rounds:
4

Secondary/Special:
Shoots grenades.

Flavour text:
A unique revolver capable of firing exploding shots. It was used in a duel which took place when Isabelle was staying in a remote town. The victor, a swift-handed vagabond, ended the duel with a single, lethal shot to the head, then coldly tossed the revolver onto his opponent's body before disappearing.

Unlock conditions:
Reach 600 kills.

Notes:
This fires grenades that explode upon impact if they hit an enemy or after a short time when they hit the ground. It does have its perks: it hits with area of effect damage and it ignores shields. However, the bullets are slow and I just didn't like the feel of the gun. If you get caught in the AoE blast, you are slowed down. 8/8.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

ISABELLA'S REVOLVER

Reload Time:
1.5s

Rounds:
6

Secondary/Special:
Starts the game in story mode.

Flavour text:
Load up that silver bullet. Seek what your heart desires. The Crimson Moon will consume your soul. For the gunslinger, peace never comes in the never-ending night.

Unlock conditions:
Get 1 kill after unlocking all of the other revolvers.

Notes:
This is exactly the same as the Peacebringer except it starts the story mode. Due to that, I have to rate it one rank higher. Great gun that's useful all game. 2/8

SHOWDOWN
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Showdown is a special power that lets Isabella stop time and pick her shots. It is a timed special so don't take too long. If you accidentally right click and activate it, it will waste a charge so make sure you aren't whiffing clicks. FYI: Charge cost is just how many crows you need to kill to get one full charge. You

CROW EYE

Charges:
2

Charge Cost:
7

Max Targets:
6

Special:
Fully reloads your revolver.

Flavour text:
A mysterious power gained from an accident a decade ago. On that day, they appeared wearing crow masks. It was during that very day that the town's sheriff was murdered, and the church was set ablaze.

Unlock conditions:
None

Notes:
Starting Showdown so it isn't amazing but it works in a pinch. Activate it and quickly move the circle to an enemy to tag them. After 6 are tagged or the time runs out, you will quickly shoot all of the selected targets and get a free full reload. It's quickly overshadowed so it's 6/6.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

BLUE CONSTELLATION

Charges:
2

Charge Cost:
9

Max Targets:
9

Special:
Fires a homing bullet that tracks enemies that you've tagged. Fully reloads your revolver.

Flavour text:
The cultists conducted their ritual on every towns person regardless of their gender and age. These acts resembled torture more than rituals, persisting for several days. No one emerged unscathed from the harrowing ordeal.

Unlock conditions:
Defeat a boss with a showdown.

Notes:
Somewhat useful; Better than its previous function but still not great. In close quarters it does wonders but the bullet's pathing isn't perfect. Sometimes you'll find that it hits an obstacle before it can reach it's target. 4/6

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

GROWING HATRED

Charges:
3

Charge Cost:
7

Max Targets:
Unlimited

Special:
The circle emanates from the centre of the player and tags targets that are nearby. Fully reloads your revolver.

Flavour text:
Isabella, who was just a young girl at the time, also had her left eye gouged out under the guise of a ritual. The cultists discarded the bloodied corpses into the swamp. Isabella, too, was cast into a pit filled with corpses alongside her family.

Unlock conditions:
Kill 6 or more enemies at once, 4 different times in a single run, using a showdown.

Notes:
My most used Showdown. The best for crowd control. You don't control the circle but the longer you hold down the right mouse button, the larger the circle grows. When the time runs out, all of the cultists that were tags and not behind cover will all be shot. 1/6.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

CURSED GAZE

Charges:
2

Charge Cost:
9

Max Targets:
5

Special:
Does not automatically reload your revolver. Shoots through all cover.

Flavour text:
However, the ritual proved successful, and she stood as the lone survivor who endured through the rite. Isabella, her immortal eye burning brightly, fled from her hometown.

Unlock conditions:
Kill 3 sharpshooters with a single showdown.

Notes:
The final Showdown and what I like to dub the "boss killer". You have to guide the circle to your targets but no matter where they are, they will be shot. This thing will go through multiple walls, wells, hedges, everything. With bosses, once you hit all of the blue crows orbiting them, they will put up a wall of tombstones that you can't shoot through. With this Showdown, you can easily shoot through their wall. 2/6.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

DUAL WIELDING

Charges:
0

Charge Cost:
None

Max Targets:
None

Special:
Replaces your Showdown with another pistol. You can't choose two different pistols unfortunately. The right mouse button becomes the shoot button for your secondary.

Flavour text:
Isabelle's left eye granted her special abilities, but it also brought substantial pain, a curse in it's own right. Fortunately, an eye patch gifted by a witch contained the curse, enabling her to train without suffering.

Unlock conditions:
Kill 80 enemies with any Showdown

Notes:
It's nice to have a second gun but since your pistols don't automatically reload, it can be dicey to keep track of your ammo. Performing a reload does both revolvers at once but I don't think it's worth the trade off. Showdown helps to slow the pace of the fight and gives you a second to gain a perspective on the arena. The shotgun on the Royal revolver only has one charge but a larger spread that takes a little longer to recharge. 5/6

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

PIERCING MOONLIGHT

Charges:
2

Charge Cost:
8

Max Targets:
1 (In reality, anything within the kill zone).

Special:
Fires a large bullet that kills all the crows in its path. Fully reloads your revolver.

Flavour text:
The truth of what occurred had become irrelevant. A single incident ignited the ashes of her revenge, and its fire had now claimed her. As she faced her demise, the gunslinger shed a silent tear.

Unlock conditions:
Reach 500 kills.

Notes:
The kite'r's showdown. Here is an example of the width of the projectile:

Every crow within a line of that shot will be killed, even the ones behind cover and in a small circle around Isabella. If you can kite a group of crows around long enough, you can get massive kills with this special. While it does fully reload your revolver and shoot through cover, it's kill zone is much more restricted than Cursed Gaze, so it's a 3/6

EQUIPMENT
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

These are passive upgrades that you can equip 2 at a time. The Strange Locket and Harmonica are the best combo in my opinion.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

RUSTY SPUR

Ability:

Dodge has a short recovery time.

Flavour text:

A spur used by horseman. As the world twisted, conventional horse breeds neared extinction, rendering this relic of a bygone era to lose its utility.

Unlock conditions:

Kill 6 or more enemies with a single Showdown.

Notes:

You'll use this for the majority of the game. Great way to spam dodge and get out of sticky situations.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

RIFLEMAN GLOVES

Ability:

Movement speed increased while reloading.

Flavour text:

Highly pliable gloves that extend to the fingertips. They prevent burns when handling overheated firearms.

Unlock conditions:

Reach 50 kills.

Notes:

Again, great early piece of equipment. You'll use this for the majority of the game.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

STRANGE LOCKET

Ability:

When you kill 5 or more enemies in one Showdown, your Showdown charges will be refilled.

Flavour text:

A necklace designed for photo insertion. It holds an unknown power, and when exposed to starlight, it vibrates faintly.

Unlock conditions:

Reach 100 kills with 90% accuracy. Fairly easy on basic mode.

Notes:

One of the best pieces of equipment in the game. When used with the harmonica, you can spam Showdown and become untouchable.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

LEATHER BANDOLEER

Ability:

You reload your revolver faster once it is completely empty but it has to be completely filled to gain the ability again.

Flavour text:

A must-have for adept gunfighters. This bandoleer is worn around the waist, allowing for swift magazine replacements.

Unlock conditions:

Dodge enemy bullets twice in a single run.

Notes:

Very easy to get if you pay attention. Relatively useful when paired with the Crimson but other than that, not really worth a slot.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

DIPPING TOBACCO

Ability:

Increases the number of targets you can tag with Showdown.

Flavour text:

Tobacco powder contained within a cylindrical container. It is chewed for use, inducing an awakened state momentarily. It appears to be more than a simple mixture of tobacco.

Unlock conditions:

Reach 200 kills.
Notes:

It's okay but once you unlock Growing Hatred, it becomes obsolete.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

OLD HARMONICA

Ability:

You recharge your Showdown when standing still.

Flavour text:

A harmonica with several holes damaged. It was cherished by sentinels tasked with long-term posts, serving as a pastime.

Unlock conditions:

Kill 20 enemies using a bomber.

Notes:

Another one of the best pieces of equipment in the game. This paired with the locket will make the game trivial.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

FUNCTIONAL OIL

Ability:

You can shoot while dodging.

Flavour text:

Snake oil sold by a faceless wandering merchant. It is claimed to have actual efficacy in enhancing physical abilities, but it is often results in the erosion of rationality.

Unlock conditions:

Reach 300 kills.

Notes:

I rarely used this.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

IMPROVED BOOTS

Ability:

Your movement speed is increased briefly after a Showdown shot.

Flavour text:

Tailored for delivery personnel covering long distances. They integrate a fine cowhide layer on the sole, allowing for faster movement.

Unlock conditions:

Kill 3 magicians without using showdown.

Notes:

The last and hardest piece to unlock and it really isn't amazing. If you use your showdown right, you won't need to quickly move anywhere.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

SHOT GLASS

Ability:

Increases the number of showdown charges available. Your Showdown will slowly drain.

Flavour text:

A finely crafted shot glass. It is rumoured that when whiskey is held within this glass under the glow of a crimson moon, the liquid's colour mysteriously transforms.

Unlock conditions:

Reach 500 kills.

Notes:

Not a bad choice when paired with the harmonica. It counter acts the Showdown drain. I still think the locket is a better pairing.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

FRACTURED HORN

Ability:

Your dodge becomes an attack. If you roll into an enemy you will kill them.

Flavour text:

A fractured ram's horn, likely used as an ornament. It bears claw marks that resemble those of a wolf.

Unlock conditions:

Kill 2 spectres using showdown.

Notes:

This wins my choice for the funnest piece of equipment. You can roll through smaller enemies and kill them (only one at a time sadly so be careful), but beware of larger enemies like bosses, defenders, and enforcers. You will bounce off the big guys then recover. That can leave you in some sticky situations if there is a large group of Crows running behind you. Overall, I love this piece of equipment for the sheer fun of headbutting everything you see, much like an actual ram.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

XIX - THE BLIND (TAROT CARD)

Ability:

You can take an extra hit.

Flavour text:

Isabelle came into possession of this tarot card after rescuing a bumbling gunslinger and a young astrologist. Upon drawing this card, the young astrologist wept and offered blessings for her path ahead.

Unlock conditions:

Kill 5 defenders without using showdown.

Notes:

A great choice for players who have issues getting hit. Pair it with the fractured horn and start rolling around. You'll know when it's used up by a slowdown period and a yellow card temporarily floating above Isabelle's head.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
THE MURDER OF CROWS
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Gunman:

The first enemy you'll see. They run up to you, slowly aim, and fire a slow bullet that drops off a short distance later. They are easy to dispatch but always be on the look out as a stray round might hit you.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Slasher:

The second enemy you'll come across. They run at you with an axe and try to bury it in your head. You can kite them quite easily as you both run the same speed. Again, don't underestimate them.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Defender:

This large crow is very slow and will hit you with a flail if you get close enough. They have a floating shield that orbits around them. The shield will block all of your regular shots but not your Showdown shots. If you are out of Showdown, you can out run their shield and shoot them in the side or you could roll behind them and shoot them in the back.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Sharpshooter:

This enemy sits as far back as possible and will train a shot on you as indicated by a red line. The line will turn yellow before they take a shot. You can outrun their shot but it's always easier to roll. Beware: Their shot animation doesn't line up with their bullet so you can get hit by their line of site before the bullet hits Isabelle.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Bomber:

A crow cultist with a suicide bomb vest. They will make a beeline for you, stop to prime the vest, and then leap at you, exploding when contacting the ground. You can see their blast radius by the circle on the ground after they prime the vest. If shot, they will fall but the vest will go off after a short while so stay away from dead bombers. They will take out friendly units, so focus on them first.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Hidden:

A mantis-like crow who quickly hops in a staccato pattern towards you. They can make up ground on you fast so take them out after the bombers. They blend into the background so keep your eyes peeled.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Enforcer:

A stocky crow who looks like the TF2 Heavy and wears belt with shotgun cartridges on it. They wield a shotgun that has a spread similar to the alt-fire on the Royal Gunsmith's Custom Revolver. Basically an upgraded Gunman crow. The spread doesn't travel as far as the Gunmen's shot but the spread can interrupt dodging at times. Just be careful where you dodge and you should handle these crows fine.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Magician:

A crow that dons wizard robes and provides life insurance to the other crows that happen to walk into the Magician's circle.

You can see the circle, the magic mark, and the ghosts in the picture above. Every crow that walks into the circle gets marked. Once marked, if you kill them, their spirit will be resurrected as an Axe Crow and they will come after you. Not too hard to deal with; Just shoot them.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Spectre:

A stealthy crow that can blend in really well with the background. They float in from the periphery as a ghost:

Then change to a living form when they find an opportunity to throw a knife at you.

Wait until they turn from a ghost to a living form and shoot them. Usually you can bait them into turning by getting close.
BOSS CROWS
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Reaper:

This crow will raise tombstones out of the ground that will block your path.

He will summon a ring of crows around him, with certain ones being blue. After that he will teleport away and slowly walk towards you. Once he sees you he will train his sights on you and shoot with 3 shots. He has a similar line of sight to the sniper so beware once it turns yellow.

Shoot the blue crows and he will go down, raising a wall of tombstones in front of him. Dodge around the tombstones and shoot him once to end the boss phase. If you can't get to him when he's down, he will teleport away and regain his circle of crows. They tombstones will eventually burst and ghost crows will emerge and run at you:

They are the same as the axe enemies.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Shaman:

An electrical boss that shots homing lightening balls and strikes down upon you.

He summons a ring around him that acts like a shield from gunshots. You have to shoot all of the blue crystals that span on the periphery of the shield before you can kill him.

shoot these

He will span in blue ghost crows much like the Reaper. They will spawn in like regular Axe Crows from the edges of the screen.

His attacks are in order below with methods for dodging them:

-The lightening strikes will hit where you are standing so keep moving in one direction, don't change and walk backwards.
-He then shoots out small lightening balls that home onto you. They can be stopped by the level geometry but if you circle strafe you should out run them.
-You can shoot the ghost crows.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Hunter:

A fast striking boss that sets landmines for you. Two flying crystals will spawn along with him and fly around the map. Shoot those crystals to make him vulnerable and then shoot him.

He starts off the round by doing a rush down attack at you. You can tell when he's about to strike by a telegraph. A large red circle will briefly appear around him and he will be immobile. Wait a few moments and then dodge as he rushes towards you. This can be stopped by level geometry.

A landmine laid by the Hunter

After he tries to rush you down, he randomly places land mines around the arena. Make sure to not approach these as they explode in an area of effect.

Make sure to only chase the flying crystals. They are all that matters. Shoot all of them and then take the boss out.

STRATEGIES
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

-Remap the reload function from 'R' to 'LShift'. This will keep your fingers on the movement keys longer and put that typically lethargic pinky to work.

-Abuse your Showdown. Once you get the Harmonica and the Locket, that combo plus Cursed Gaze makes the game a bit easier in the later levels.

-Prioritise Stalkers, Bombers, Magicians, and Enforcers. Most other Crows can be dodged.

-Remember to reload before you shoot the last shield for the boss. That way you are downing them with a full revolver.

-Try to stick to the centre of the screen. This will give you the most room to move.

DIFFICULTY SELECTION
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Base Level
Standard difficulty. This will change depending on whether you are in story mode or not.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Level 2
The enemy waves are harder before you hit 100 kills. A little harder to start but it helps to speed up the first 100 kills.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Level 3
Stalkers and Enforcers will show up earlier.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Level 4
The enemy wave is harder before 200 kills. Just like level 2, this helps to speed up the level progression.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Level 5
Magicians and Spectres appear sooner.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
CURSES
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Curses were added in patch 1.5. They add a lot of flavour and difficulty to the game by changing parameters.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

This is the curses line-up.

You must collect various gears around the map. I would show you what they look like but I had the 'Curses' function unlocked after a short match and 25 gears.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Name:
Curse of the Martyr

Unlock condition:
Unlocked immediately.

Effect:
Enemies explode on death. When you, another enemy, or an environmental hazard kills an enemy, a orange circle will appear around their corpse for a few seconds. Not unlike the bomber crow, an explosion follows. Stay away from corpses or roll through explosions. I've gotten quite lucky with hit boxes and I hope you do as well.

STORY MODE
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Story mode starts with a small written intro:

A regular game of Kill The Crows but the enemies are randomised. Personally, I think the waves are a little bit tougher. They throw some higher level enemies at you sooner and the bosses are in their max forms. Not to say it's very hard. Any experienced player should be able to beat 3 waves without breaking a sweat.

If you end up killing 300 crows you are granted a final duel with the Reaper. When prompted, press R to load the silver bullet and when it says 'Kill the Crows", just click once on screen and you'll win the duel.

Here is the ending and the post-credits sequence:

ACHIEVEMENTS
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Kill the Crows isn't a hard game so all of these achievements are easy enough with enough play time. When I say hard, I don't mean truly hard.

EASIEST:

Are you Stuck?

Simple. Stand still for 30 seconds.

Western Flail

Get killed by a Shield Crow's flail.

Scarecrow

Scare the crows (the animals not the enemy) when they gather. If you see crows fly off after you shoot at them, you've done it right. Can be done through multiple play-throughs.

Full Pocket

Equip two pieces of equipment. Once you have two, put one on each hip.

Gear Up!

Equip a piece of equipment.

Warm Hug

Get killed by a Bomber Crow.

Remember Me?

Defeat your first boss

Kill it with fire

When a Hidden Crow appears on screen after 300 kills, you'll get the achievement.

"WHEN YOU HAVE TO SHOOT, SHOOT, DON'T WALK!!"

Use the Cursed Gaze showdown to kill a boss.

Hey, Careful with that dynam..

Get a Bomber Crow to kill 20 other Crow Cultists. Focus on the Bombers in the crowds of Crows headed your way. If you can get them in a bottleneck, it's even easier.

The Kid

Unlock the second revolver.

The Outlaw

Unlock the third revolver.

The Gunsmith

Unlock the forth revolver.

After Harrowing Ritual,

Unlock the second Showdown.

Girl in bloodstains

Unlock the third Showdown

Fled across the desert

Unlock the fourth Showdown

Electrified

Get electrocuted. Fight up to the second boss (200 kills on basic difficulty) and let him kill you.

Cowgirl from Hell

Defeated 10,000 enemies in total. Very easy as it's the name of the game. Just kill the crows.

EASY:

Survivor

Achieve 200 Kills.

Crow Killer

Achieve 300 Kills.

Murder of crows

Deal with 30 enemies at the same time. Just kite the first 30 enemies that appear on screen and you'll get this.

Weird West Shows

Kill 20 Ghost Crows. This can be achieved over multiple play-throughs or you can wait for 20 to spawn during a boss phase.

I count six shots

Achieve 60 Kills with 100% accuracy. Just watch your shots or use Showdown as much as you can.

I count two guns

Achieve 120 kills with 100% accuracy. Same as above. You'll eventually get Showdowns and equipment that help with this.

MANCATO!

Dodged 10 attacks in a single run. Save the last Defender Crow from the first 100 and dodge their attack 10 times. Mancato means 'missed me' in italian.

The Blind

Beat story mode. You will need to equip Isabelle's revolver. You'll get an intro sequence and a duel after the 3rd boss. You can find more info on it under the 'Story Mode' header.

Cursed

Unlock curse mode.

HARD:

Full Arsenal
Unlock all the gear. 400 kills can be a slog but just push through it. Abuse Showdown as much as possible and try to stay in the centre of the screen where you have room to move.

Gunslinger

Achieve 500 kills. It might take a few tries but you'll get here eventually. Same as above, abuse Showdown and try to stay in the centre. Aim for Bombers and Hidden first, Shield and Sniper second, Axes and Pistols last. You'll get there.

Battering Ram

Headbutted a boss. Equip the Fractured Horn and roll into a boss to kill them. The only reason it's in hard is because you have to get to 600 kills to get the Fractured Horn. Easiest done on the first Electric Boss when they're vulnerable. I did it on the Reaper Crow.

The Crimson Moon Rising

Equip all curses and start a game.

Yes, you need that specific revolver for the story mode.
hey, is the story mod and ending only allow to use Isabella's revolver? or can i still use other gun? i haven't got that far yet.
The Jaguar  [author] 7 May @ 11:58pm
@Dextroyer666 try kiting enemies around. If you hide in the destroyed homes to the left, or the walled zone below the starting area, enemies tend to get grouped. Make sure to wait for the right moment and don't use your Showdown. Shoot the bomber directly.

anyone have advice for unlocking the harmonica? I can never get 20 enemies killed by bombers

Sounds like you figured out the rating system just fine. I'll spell check.

The way you rate the revolvers is confusing for someone skimming this guide. It's not clear at a glance if "5/8" means the 5th best of eight revolvers or you're using an "out of 8 stars" rating.

Also "it's" is exclusively a contraction of "it is". The possessive version like "This gun is great, its ammo capacity is the highest in the game" doesn't have an apostrophe.

For me, there's nothing better than the dual wielded partner with the leather bandoleer. You can get a crazy high amount of kills with that setup if you stay calm and remember to count your shots.
UnderYourBeds 3 Sep, 2024 @ 5:40am
The crimson revolver with the leather bandolier is, in my opinion, the best weapon in the game. It reduces the reload to a point where you basically have infinite ammo. Granted, I haven't tried to embrace a showdown-heavy approach to combat, so I don't know how useful the strange locket is. The game throws so many enemies at the player that the seven kills to charge a showdown seems negligible.

I'll meet you in the middle; They are teal. Regardless of their colour, you knew what I was talking about and that's the important point.

Bro i think you have some form of Tritanopia, crows are not blue, that fly around reaper they are green.
