Descriere

The LATIS (Laser Targeting and Identification System) project started with a simple specification:
  • Being able to control it on a 1x1
  • Easy to install to be used on all types of aircrafts
  • Compact as possible
The goal was to have a system with the features of a gimbal camera while being more compact. This resulted in this easy to install pod that can be easily used .

To aim you just have to click on the screen in the direction you want
Features

-Point Tracking
-InfraRed mode
-External GPS target input (optionnal)
-EHCS compatibility

Microcontroller Settings

[To access the settings go to the biggest controller]
Sensitivity
Controls Sensitivity
Speed Compensation
Acceleration Compensation
Due to a delay on the physics sensor, a small prediction is needed
Ticks Compensation
how far the prediction go, to better adjust it to your use
GPS targeting mode
choose whether the gps targeting act as toggle or push

Installation

  • All you need is a free hardpoint and a free 1x1 screen.
  • Hook up the harpoint video node to your screen, and the screen composite to your hardpoint.
  • With GPS input: hook the GPS module [1=x, 2=y, 3=z] inbetween the screen and hardpoint composite link.
  • With ECHS Hardpoint Controller Plug the composite into the "Hardpoint X" and "Target Data Passthrough" node.

Nope it's only using the data from the gps and laser (so position + distance + direction) to get the point coordinates and then do the same but in reverse to know where to aim. I haven't played the game much recently but once I get back into it I think it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Can it track moving target?

You can check the code with the pastebin link art the end of the description. But I just get the current acceleration and speed and use it to get an approximate position in x tick (pos = 1/2 * a * x² + v *x + pos0)

Link GitHub? I am interested to see how the movement compensation is done because mine goes all over the place when placed on an aircraft.

I already tought about it, I also thought about a radar guided camera for motorsports, but unfortunately I have absolutely no time to play because of school ( highschool was nice 😅 for that). But thanks for your enthusiasm !

You should keep making those targeting pods maybe even a radar guided laser?

its very easy now to use laser guided bombs thanks to this creation
