Cryo_Mechanoid

Description
This mod MUST be loaded after its dependencies listed on this page, they will not work otherwise! they rely on their weapons to function properly! Simply sub those mods and have them load from the list before this one!

These mechanoids are almost the same as the ones in the base game, they require a couple of mods for their weapons to function, please do not attempt to run this mod without having those mods installed first!

This mod adds some new cryo based mechanoids to the game:


Cryo centipede:
a version of the centipede burner that has a cryo cannon instead of inferno cannon, this centipede fires 2 blasts from its cannon, plastering the area with snow, and sub zero gases, that cause frostbite damage to targets in the area overtime, the cryo centipede has its own shield, its fairly weak to enemies up close, the cryo centipede can damage itself in its own ice blast, be careful when using it inside! more on this in the known bugs section.


Glacier:
The Glacier is a modified scorcher, its fires about 6 shots of liquid nitrogen, all which blasts small areas on cryo gas, this weapon in special, as it doesn't do much damage directly, but it slows enemies to a crawl in its blasts, making it a perfect partner to the cryo centipede or any other mechanoids that need time to aim. just like the centipede this mechanoid also has a shield.


Compatabilities/Incompatabilities:
  • Multiplayer compatible: as part of my thing these are 100% multiplayer ready. Multiplayer/coop is my highest priority in all mods and games I plan to create, now and forever. this mod only brings xml and a handful of its own images to rimworld, none of it should be the cause of a desync in rimworlds multiplayer mod made by Zetrith.

  • combat extended: I do not use this mod, I don't think it will work with it if I'm being honest. Even if I did do my part to make it work, chances are the weapons these rely on from other mods may not work with it.

  • Giddyup: just like my tox mechanoid mod this should work with it.

  • What the hack!?: This one should work as well, although be careful with attempting to hack them in a closed room, failing to hack them sometimes results in them firing their weapon, while the gas doesn't condense indoors like it does with the tox mechanoids, it might be way more dangerous, this gas causes damage ON contact so you'll be in for a bad time if, lets say the cryo centipede blasts its ice cannon inside your workshop!

Known bugs:

  • The cryo gas from these mechanoids damage other mechanoids as well despite their resistances to the cold due to how frostbite damage is incurred basically, frostbite is a RESULT of being in the cold for the long, since mechanoids don't take damage from the environment such as fires and heat related stuff. The weapons from the mod that this uses however, bypasses environment checks and just deals its own form of damage, which in the end, leads to frostbite.
    There isn't anything I can do about it on my end, the cryo gas mod was around before biotech so at some point I may have to look into recreating a gas using vanilla methods instead. until then, please be mindful of your mechanoid friends!

    Trivia / Hints / Other info

    • Both of these mechanoids have a shield, the shield is weak and it won't protect from melee attacks, but they can block intercepting projectiles for adjacent pawns, I also ended up modifying them and making them an icy blue.

    • just like my tox centipede with their gas masks like faces, I made the cryo centipedes wear ear-muffs, I think I did a good job!

    • frostbite damage is extremely dangerous to small body parts like fingers and toes, it is extremely dangerous to children and small animals, this goes for every being in the game including mechanoids believe it or not, these cryo mechanoids can put work on other mechanoids becuase of this.

    • simliar to my other mod, mechanoid raids will have these guys with them as well, bundle up and try to take them on upclose!

    This is my second rimworld mod, I plan to make many many mods for rimworld so tell me what I can improve on!
