If you finish a level with less moves than required, for example Level 12 can be completed with 26/32 moves. This will remove your ability to achieve the perfect score achievement.
To fix this, you will have to return to the menu and select New Game.
That being said, follow the guide exactly and everything should work just fine.

Move with:
U = UP
D = DOWN
L = LEFT
R = RIGHT
_ = SPACE
