Originally developed during the perilous times between October/12/2023 and Oct/15/2023 where a catastrophic reality-altering event known as the "Space Update" rendered the old "XML" spacial distortion techs completely useless and bricked literally every high-performance missile motor, the Cricket was created as a temporary stop-gap solution to fill the now-empty market for radar guided missiles and help Vector Dynamics survive the Great Missile Manufacture Massacre of Oct/12/2023.

On Oct/15/2023, certain effects of the reality-altering event were contained and mitigated, making it possible to utilize spacial distortion technology again, thus rendering the Cricket basically useless asides from being a neat little reminder of a bygone era of panic and outrage.

The AAM-XS "Cricket" missile is a low-performing alternative for the Zephyr model. Utilizing vanilla boosters and primarily-cosmetic XML parts, the Cricket is essentially the poor man's Zephyr. Borrowing the HOBS seeker head from salvaged Zephyr models, the Cricket is great at tracking its targets, but the speed is something to be desired...
