Yeah that's pretty much what it is.. an open air test bench. What I like is that you can put it back together and it will become a normal case again.

It depends on which 4090 you're using and which BIOS it's on. Some 4090s use a lot more power than others. I wanted to be safe so I bought an expensive MSI Ai1300P PCIE5 Platinum PSU. I also spent way too much on custom cables for this PSU from CableMod.

Which 4090 do you have? Have you monitored how much power your 4090 is pulling max?

It depends on a resolution and games obviously but a 5950X will bottleneck a 4090 pretty often at 1440p or lower res. At 4K it won't really matter if you're using a 5950X or 7950X3D.

Not sure if I would call that a case. Almost like an open air test bench at that point. It is cool though. BTW, my 4090 has not had any issues with the RM850X. Also, my 5950X is still solid for most games. It does bottleneck in some situations for min fps, but I find most of the demanding games also have frame generation which helps with CPU bottlenecks.

Yeah man/ I still keep eyeing 4090's but I'm playing stuff that just doesn't need it. To get a 4090 I really should get new PSU as my RM850x might struggle with spikes (maybe not). It's all good at the moment though

Oh. I understand that. That's how I felt about 5800X but it was pretty obvious from HardwareUnboxed and GamersNexus tests that Zen3 couldn't quite keep up with high end GPUs (except for 5800X3D). Although I switched to Raptor Lake when it launched and then 8 months later I switched to Zen4.

If 5900X was holding you back with a 3090..? Now imagine how badly 5800X would of been holding me back with a 4090... :wowsshock:

It's great, hard to accept that the 5900x was holding me back

Nice! How do you like 7950X3D so far?

Thanks! It's a Thermaltake Core P6 TG. Cool thing about this case is it can look like a normal case but if you you prefer this look then it can be taken apart to look like this (it's a transformable chassis) as TT calls it. It actually has VESA mount on the back panel so it can be wall mounted. There's also Thermaltake Core P3 which looks like this but much cheaper (but IMO the feet it stands on looks bad). Then there's a Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro which looks exactly like P6 in this form and it's cheaper than P6.

Here's a link to these case options.

I could get that and wall mount it!

Love it. Recently got the 7950x3d too. I'd say keep the glass. What case is that?
