Speeds
The game is a balancing act between fast and torque (slow).

To increase speed put big gears on small gears. Tab toggles placement.

To slow the speed you put small gears on big gears then link on that small one.

The faster the speed the faster you can get these bonuses BUT the more torque will be required. If you try attaching with high speeds expect to need 100+ torque.

A good idea is to have very fast speeds before a row of money gears, just make sure to slow them again before trying to attach to a device.

@MARK_is_a_IDOIT say one fact about idling gears

@Mark well first of all my guide didn't really talk about machines. The only thing I said was if you try connecting to one with too much speed then the torque requirement will break you. Since this is a very basic guide about speed controls it is only to get people to their first machine with maybe some money gears along the way. Faster gears turn machines faster at a higher torque cost. I'm not sure where you are seeing a problem with what I wrote here.

The last part of my first message, "meet loss of above two machines" is incorrect, did more testing. It's purely if above 1 torque.

So test this for yourself, try a machine and get as close to 1 torque as possible, you will get the same income as if you used all your torque on three same machine.
Everything above 1 torque cuts into the multiple given by the gold wheel.
No matter what torque value you have, this should start true.

@Mark This is almost exactly what I said so how is it wrong? Save for a few things you didn't really explain. How does more speed cost income? Speeding increases rewards per second but at the cost of needing higher torque. Eventually you will level up to a point where you can run multiple machines at once with little issue. Despite me not really saying anything about getting that far since this is a basic 101 guide.

so the guide is wrong, higher speeds actually costs you income, using the torque costs you speed over the entire system. so if you want best outcome slowly change the gearing of each reward.
Also it's a net loss to operate more than any two machines at a time.

Great guide!

its simpler to use a leg of your machine to speed up your gears as fast as you could, then attach money gears to it. luckily money gears dont take torque to run so you can ramp the speed as high as you can then add a few Money gears. dont try to hook a machine to the leg as you then have to waste the gears to downshift again
