Edit: There's a enchanced version in the comments (Tnx to Rafii) that SHOULD work even after new patches. To download it instead of replacing "english" just put it in "language" folder. Haven't tested it YET.

Instruction:

Go to your Steam Library
Right click on Risk of Rain Returns and open Local files
Open "language" folder and then "english"
Replace current "lang" folder with modded one

Okay, so there WAS a mod like this already

I was looking for any mods, but it turned out that there's still no mods for this game (No way, new games don't have mods on release, crazy right?). So i took apportunity in my hands in made one myself. Very simple one but still. It's not really a mod scince I just replaced Pickup description of items with Logbook description but still.

Update: Turns out that there's already a mod like this but scince it has no word "mod " I couldn't find it. Hopefully people won't blame me for "stealing" it. I mean it's just text replace that anyone can do with Notepad. I really didn't know that there was one already.
I probably wont update it but we will see.

Ahamkeira, not sure if you ever found it, but it's up the top right in the main menu, off in the corner. It activates with R1 on my PS4 controller.

Using the QOL fix Rafil mentioned where do you change the langue in settings?

I made a slight enhancement. I made into a new language meaning that updates won't overwrite it, dunno how it would behave that way but if something is off, you can just switch back to english.
To install it, just extract the file into the mentioned language folder and then when you open the game you will be able to change your language to Detailed Descriptions
