How to pet a LODDLE

Imma keep it real and simple.
Have no item in your hotbar (down left bar) and then hold L2 or LT or E on keyboard to pet a loddle.
Now you are holding your hand out you press X or Square button to use your helmet.
Press it again and again so the loddle comes to you and you will pet it. just stand still and reach out with your hand.
Wonderful mechanic!!

@Blue Just an empty slot in your hotbar is good. Bubble gun doesn't matter :)

How do I get empty hands to pet? I can only hold my bubble gun? Or is it the q hotbar has top be empty? It still wont work for me I'm very confused
