Loot Filtering Stuff

Loot Pickup
Loot Filtering is important for only picking up loot around your level or just filtering it in general.
You can open the loot filter by pressing the button at the bottom of your inventory. (I button for inventory.)

(Image reference)

In the Loot Filtering options there is a General Tab which will open first, in there you can find a drop down for Loot pickup options.

(Image reference)

I recommend setting this option to Bulk pickup, meaning you press F (or whatever key it is to pickup/interact) to pick up items in an area.

By default (Standard), you pick up items by pressing F near them which can be a hassle to do. You can also set it as Collision to run into objects to pick them up. This is up to preference and such, but I like Bulk pickup.

Loot Filtering
Other options in Loot Filtering allow you to actually filter loot based on what you checkmark.

There are several tabs, allowing you to in-depthly customize what you want to pickup. Though you have to make sure to checkmark "Loot filter enabled" or you'll still pickup random stuff.

I'm not going to go too in-depth to the filtering options, as you can experiment to see what works best for you but I recommend having Recycle enabled and also upping the minimum level depending on what sector level you are in or whatever level you are.

Enemies seem to drop loot a couple levels above or below their own level, so I recommend having the minimum level set to a level or two below your own level for best results.

Possibly missed buttons or options

I recommend going through the options menu and changing buttons to how you feel, you might discover random buttons or options you missed.

For example in, Menu Controls. There is a very important button that isn't exactly mentioned as far as I'm aware.

Map Button

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it is the Tab key for the Map.

Upon pressing Tab it will cycle through map modes, the first map mode is a fullish map of your area.

(Image reference)

The second press will swap it to a transparent map around the center of your screen.

(Image reference)

The third press will swap it to a minimap in the top right of your screen.

(Image reference)

The fourth press will make the map go away entirely, allowing you to continue to swap to other modes.

You can change which map modes are enabled by default in the General tab of options.

Level Up/Skill Tree Button

Another button you might of missed, as it's only mentioned in the small dialogue box, is the Skill tree button.

Pressing O, as it says to do, will open the skill tree. Where you can spend points to unlock skills in a certain tree. Keep in mind selecting a starting faction/tree only affects your starting ship and weapons.

Other keys and such

Be sure to explore the options menu to look at other buttons and keys.

For example, Auto-use, which might be helpful to some. Auto-use will automatically fire your weapons, or use an active auxiliary module. Left, Right, and Center being Q, R, E buttons respectively.

(Image reference)

Another example is Steering mode, which is under Control Schemes. Experiment with these for something you like best.

Multiplayer Options

Here are some other things for when creating a lobby for your friends or others.

Before you start a multiplayer lobby, you can change the Loot options in the option menu under Loot. Me and my friend have it set to free-for-all so we just divide the loot up after the fact, use what you think would be best. But keep in mind you might be missing out on loot far, far away.

Something else might go here later, but for now this is where this section ends.
Laterish stuff
Storage/Transmuting

Storage

After picking up items and such, you might want to consider storing them instead of selling them, the game has a neat storage system that allows for auto-filtering of items put into the storage.

Head over to the red pad to access storage specifically.

(Image Reference)

Inside you will start with 2 tabs of storage, with those two tabs you can right click on them to edit the filter settings. Edit them however you want and up to your preference for tabs, keep in mind unlocking/buying a tab cost the in-game money.

Now after you setup your storage tabs, you can dump loot into it by pressing the top arrow in the middle of your inventory screen and the storage screen. Or by clicking right click on items you want to store. Or by holding right click and hovering over multiple items.

(Image Reference)

Upon dumping items into it, it will auto-sort into the tabs based on how you edited it.

Tranmutation/Transmuting/Transmute

After you get your storage, you might wonder what the heck do you do with all this stuff.

Well you can transmute it to get it up to your level or up it's quality/rarity, goto the purple pad to transmute items.

(Image Reference)

Once interacting with it, the game will open your storage and inventory screen to allow for easy access in transmuting items.

(Image Reference)

Keep in mind if you want to transmute an item into a greater rarity item, you must do all of the same rarity and type. Experiment with the transmuter to make greater items and get ahead of the game.

Turretss

This section is on its own until I find other things to group together, but this is a feature I didn't realize existed at first and therefore might be helpful to you.

Different types of ships higher than fighter come with turret slots. Turret slots are listed at the bottom of the stat card and show the turrets that are there by default.

(Image Reference)

However, you can put other weapons into these turret slots by looking at the blue menu next to your inventory when opening your inventory. Each slot has a different amount of effectiveness, which usually means it will operate at a lower dps than the original weapon you put in, so put some high dps weapons in to do good amounts of damage with your turrets.

(Image Reference)

Turrets you put into the slots will be shown on the stat card.

Do remember to take out the turrets before switching hulls, as turrets transfer with the hull.

Didn't know about equipping the turrets to the ship. That's awesome.

Also, rebind interact key (F) to Spacebar instead for smoother gameplay. Save your hands, they will thank you.
