Introduction
You guessed it. Anarchy Arcade supports addons. Hundreds of thousands of addons actually. There are a few different places to download & install addons from. In this article I will explain how to do all them, from easiest to hardest.

Keep in mind that this tutorial is for the Early Access version of AArcade, which does not yet have Steam Workshop integration. If you think Workshop integration should be a priority, let me know in the Discussion section.

Anarchy Arcade supports many types of addons. For visual addons, there are Props, Cabinets, and Maps. These are the ones that I will cover in this article.

There are also functional addons. They are Search Providers and Emulator Profiles. These will not be covered in this article.
Summary
  • Download your addons from http://www.gamebanana.com/ or http://www.garrysmod.org/.
  • Extract your addon's resources into the aarcade folder.
  • If your addon was a model, use the console command: scanmodels
  • If your addon was a map, you must restart Anarchy Arcade to make it appear in your Start Arcade list.
  • Make sure you click the FILTERS checkbox there and SHOW ADDONS.
Compatibility
Some addons require content from other Valve games, such as Team Fortress 2 or Counter-Strike: Source. To use these addons, you would need to enable these games by clicking Mount Content on AArcade's Main Menu. Be sure to let everything update!

Also, not ALL addons from community websites are compatible with AArcade, but most of them are. Feel free to share your favorite ones in the Discussion section.
EASY - DLC from the Collect Rewards menu
Just go to the in-game Collect Rewards menu and some DLC will be listed right next to your unlocks in each category (if there is any DLC available). Click the DOWNLOAD DLC button next to the ones you want.

Since Anarchy Arcade is now on Steam, there will not be as much need for this type of in-game downloadable content.
MEDIUM - ZIP files from GameBanana.com or GarrysMod.org
There are thousands of Props and Maps that you can download from the community websites http://www.gamebanana.com/ or http://www.garrysmod.org/. If they come in ZIP files, Anarchy Arcade can attempt to automatically install them for you. Just put the ZIP file into the following folder and it will be automatically assimlated into AArcade the next time you start it:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Anarchy Arcade\aarcade\addons

If for any reason automatic installation fails, try manually installing using the instructions below.
MEDIUM - Other files from GameBanana.com or GarysMod.org
If the addon doesn't come as a ZIP file, you'll have to manually extract the required folders from the addon's archive. Once you figure out how to do this, it is not a difficult thing to do. Each addon is different, but here are some general guidelines:
  • First look for folders called "maps", "models", and "materials" in the addon's archive. If you find them, extract them into your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade" folder and continue to the final step.
  • Otherwise, if your addon is a map, look for a .bsp file and extract it into your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade/maps" folder and continue to the final step.
  • If your addon is a model, then you need to use this console command after: scanmodels
HARD - Addons from the GarrysMod Workshop (or other Workshops)
Some addons are currently only available from the Steam Workshops of other games, such as Garry's Mod. It IS possible to use these in AArcade, but you must extract them first. This varies depending on the game, but here's how to do it for the Garry's Mod Workshop:

1. You will need a program called GWTool to extract the Workshop addons. Get it here[gaddons.org].
2. Download the addon by using http://gaddons.org/workshop OR subscribing to it on the Workshop.
3. Open GWTool and drag-and-drop the addon file into it to extract the addon.
4. Move the required folders into your smarcade2 folder like normal: maps, models, materials.
6. If your addon was a prop, use this command after: scanmodels
HARD - Resources from other Source engine MODs
It is possible to build arcades using the resources from your favorite Source MODs, such as GoldenEye: Source and NEOTOKYO. This is the most difficult type of addon content to install, but can also be the most rewarding as it could give you hundreds of new Props and Maps to use each time.

There are now 2 different ways to do this. You should try Method A first, and if it doesn't work for a particular MOD, then try Method B.

Method A

You can mount the content from the other Source engine mod directly from its folders without making any extra copies. You just have to modify your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade/gameinfo.txt" file in a text editor. Make a back-up copy of your gameinfo.txt before you start!

Search your gameinfo.txt for the following string:
"category" "additionalloose"

Directly below this line, you add the line that mounts your MOD's content:
"game" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\dab"

That's it. Now launch Anarchy Arcade and the base content from your other MOD will be mounted. The maps should automatically appear in your Start Arcade screen. If you wish to add *all* of the MOD's models to your library as props, you just have to use this console command:
scanmodels

OPTIONAL
Games like Counter-Strike: Source put content that you downloaded from servers, like maps and stuff, in a seperate "download" folder. If you wish to mount all of the downloaded content from your MOD as well, you just need to find this string:
"category" "download"

And directly below it add a line that references your MOD's download folder:
"game" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\dab\download"

It is a similar process if you want to also mount the custom content folder from your MOD.

Method B

Note that this method requires you make an additional copy of all of the other MOD's files and is generally not recommended.

You are basically going to merg the MOD's required resources with AArcade, but it is very important that AArcade's files be "on top". In other words, if there are duplicate files when merging, AArcade's files should be the ones that are kept. There are many ways to do this, but here are some general instructions to get it done:
  • You need to copy resources from your MOD, so it needs to either be installed or extracted somewhere that you can access its files.
  • Next, go to your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade" folder and create a New Folder named "backup" inside of it.
  • Move the following folders into the backup folder: maps, models, materials.
  • Now go to your MOD's resources and COPY the following folders into your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade" folder: maps, models, materials.
  • Next, move the following folders from the backup folder into your "Anarchy Arcade/aarcade" folder; overwriting any duplicates: maps, models, materials.
  • Finally, launch Anarchy Arcade and use the console command: scanmodels
Conclusion
You are now an expert, congratulations.
If you run into any snags, have questions, or need some help, just post a comment and ask away. I'll help you out.

If you think this is too difficult, be sure to recommend Steam Workshop integration in the Discussion section.

Have fun!

Figured it out! I was being dumb. Was using the wrong file format and also got confused between my backup and the game. Custom content goes into the Custom folder period. XD

I have an issue with installing custom content (models). Every guide I see says something different. The first guide says put models and materials folders from your mod into correspoding folders in aarcade folder. The other says that I should create a folder in aarcade/custom. I've even seen one that said make a new folder in aarcade/models as well. I've tried all of these without success. What is the correct proceedure in order to install models that have models and materials folders?

Regarding GWTool: The http://gaddons.org/workshop link is a 404, as Gaddons is officially dead. I had thought that it was available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gwtool/ but it turns out that's a program "for dealing with gravitational waves." Any ideas?

Question. Is the Sourcemod folder scanned by default?
