What you will need
-A copy of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm (Pretty much every mod runs on this, you can buy it and the rest of the series for dirt cheap on Steam or GoG)

-Any mod for Soulstorm (Pretty much everything in the BattleForge collection and a good amount of Workshop addons use something from the following, all of which can be found on ModDB)
>Codex Mod
>Firestorm Over Kaurava
>Ultimate Apocalypse
>The Crucible
>Unification

-DoW Mod Manager (Loads Dawn of War mods, can also be found on ModDB)

-Any image editor of your choice (Paint dotNET, Photoshop, Gimp, etc.)

-Blender

-Ninja Ripper (Rips assets from games. Get it here: https://gamebanana DOT com/tools/5638)

-Noesis (Lets you view and extract Ninja Ripper exports into useable formats. Get it here: https://richwhitehouse DOT com/index.php?content=inc_projects.php&showproject=91)

OPTIONAL BUT VERY USEFUL

Custom DoW banners and badges can be found here: http://wh40k.ei8ht DOT net/hangar-8_sm.htm

As for creating and using your own, follow this guide: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=307374080
Setting up Ninja Ripper and Noesis
For the sake of length and getting to the fun parts quicker, just follow this guide like I did.

Part 1: Custom Skins
Let's start with something easy. With a model just as simple

For this example, I'll be turning this blank Space Marine into a Battle Brother of the Red Scorpions chapter.

Before we start, it's always a good idea to have a reference image on hand or at least a mental image of whatever you're making, be it something from the lore or your OC army

Now that we know what we're doing, let's get started

Since the SM model I'm using is from the Codex Mod, I'll open that up and make my way to the Army Painter menu.

Once you're satisfied with how your model looks, go ahead and press whatever key(s) you've bound Ninja Ripper to. What's cool about Ninja Ripper is that it extracts everything in the current game world and nothing else.

But wait! He's missing something!

Yep! Don't be afraid to take multiple captures if what you're making is beyond Dawn of War's capabilities.

So let's do it again, but this time, I've made sure the helmet is yellow.

With that out of the way, we can go into Noesis and go to the newly created Ninja Ripper folder. From there, scroll down to where the filenames being with "Tex_" and find your texture.

After you've found your texture, right click it (on the left panel with the filenames, not the pic itself) and select export. Here, you can change the output file's destination and name in the bottom text box and change it to whatever file type you want (if you want to or if you don't have anything to read .tga files).

Then, select export again at the bottom and Noesis will make a new, readable copy of the file. Don't forget to do the same with any extra pics you'll need!

And now, we put it all together

First, let's grab the texture sheet for the model we're making a skin for (right click it in TTS -> Select "Custom" -> Copy the Diffuse/Image URL -> Paste it into your browser) and open it in your image editing program of choice. I'll be using Paint dotNET for this.

Then, open all of the images you pulled from Noesis

For some reason, Noesis flips and inverts any images extracted from Ninja Ripper, so you'll have to rotate your images 180 degrees then flip them horizontally.

From here, make any necessary edits until you're satisfied with what you see. Then, carefully paste and align everything onto the texture sheet you're using. When you're done, save it and open Tabletop Simulator.

Once you're on a table with your model, right click it and select the folder icon next to the Diffuse/Image URL box. After you've selected your texture sheet you will be given two options. Cloud and Local.

If you select Local, only you will be able to see the texture as it pulls from your computer. If you select Cloud, the image is saved to your TTS cloud menu and can be seen by other players ingame.

And there we have it! One Codex-compliant Red Scorpion ready to wage war!
