SECTION 100 – Getting Started
110 - INTRODUCTION – Palworld is an exciting new Survival/Base Building/Monster Capture game. To a someone new to these genres, it can be challenging to progress through the early phases of this great game. In this guide I’ll give a detailed explanation of what steps to follow to reach Player Level 15 and Base Level 10 in 5 Days. This guide assumes you are playing Solo on Normal Difficulty. Your actual progression could be much faster/slower depending on the number of players and the difficulty setting you choose.

120 – CHARACTER & WORLD CREATION – Open the game and select the “Start Game” option from the Main Menu. In the World Select screen click on “+ Create New World”. Name the World whatever you like. Select Normal Difficulty and click OK. In the Character Creation screen, give your character a name and set their appearance.

130 – FIRST STEPS – Your character will start in an empty cave. Walk through the cave door heading Northwest towards the Plateau of Beginnings. You can press “M” at any time to view the Map. As you walk, you’ll see loose pieces of Stone and Wood on the ground, which you can pick up by pressing the “F” key. After walking a short distance you’ll see an orange glowing sculpture. This is a Fast Travel Point, which allows you to teleport to any other Fast Travel Point or Palbox on the map. Press “F” to unlock it.

140 – BUILDING YOUR FIRST STRUCTURE & WEAPONS – Walk a short distance Northeast to the clearing surrounded by Trees, Stone Deposits, and Berry Plants. Continue to pick up Stone, Wood, and Berries as you walk around. This is a great place to build your first base. Press “B” to open the Build Menu. Select the Primitive Workbench:

STRUCTURE - Primitive Workbench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 1 / 0 Technology Points
  • COST – 2x Wood
After you place a Structure Blueprint, hold the “F” button to build it. Later on your pal’s will help you build your structures. But for now, you’re all on your own. The first things you’ll want to build at the Primitive Workbench are the Stone Axe and the Stone Pickaxe:

WEAPON Stone Axe[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 1 / 0 Technology Points
  • COST – 5x Wood / 5x Stone
  • DAMAGE – 20
  • DURABILITY - 150
WEAPONStone Pickaxe[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 1 / 0 Technology Points
  • COST – 5x Wood / 5x Stone
  • DAMAGE – 20
  • DURABILITY - 150
After selecting the weapon, hold “F” to build and then click “F” again to acquire it. Don’t forget to pick it up! The Stone Axe and Stone Pickaxe are used to chop Wood and mine Stone. Wood and Stone are critical resources that are needed for nearly every early game structure and weapon you’ll be making.

150 – MAIN MENU – Press “ESC” to view the Main Menu. Click on the “Inventory” tab to view your character details. You have likely gained a level or two from your activities so far. Click on “Enhance Stats” to assign your Stat Points. Early on, I recommend splitting your points evenly between Work Speed and Weight, until you have 5 Points in each category. At the beginning of the game, you do a lot of building and carrying stuff around. After that, I recommend put all of your points into Health for a while to improve your survivability during tough mid and late-game fights:
  • Work Speed – Player work speed. Affects the efficiency of working on various tasks at base.
  • Weight – Player max carrying capacity. Movement will become slow if over the limit.
  • Health – Player Vitality. You collapse from fatigue if this reaches 0.
Next, click on the “Technology” tab. On this screen, you’ll be able to spend Technology Points to unlock important Structures, Weapons, and Key Items. Each level your character gains will provide additional Technology Points and will unlock a new Technology Tier. NOTE: You have a limited supply of Technology Points, so I don’t recommend unlocking every Technology available to you. Instead, spend your points on the Structures, Weapons, and Key Items that are really important to game progression.

160 – STARTING YOUR BASE – Use your Stone Axe to chop some Wood and your Stone Pickaxe to mine some Stone. Note that chopping Wood will occasionally yield Fiber and mining Stone will occasionally yield Paldium Fragments and Ore. Before it gets dark, you’ll want to craft a Hand-held Torch:

WEAPON Hand-held Torch[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 1 / 0 Technology Points
  • COST – 2x Wood / 2x Stone
  • DAMAGE – 10
  • DURABILITY - 100
The torch serves several purposes. First, it allows you to see at night. Second, it keeps you warm at night. Lastly, it can be used as a low-damage melee weapon that occasionally sets the target on fire. NOTE: Pals with a status condition are easier to catch.

Next, you’ll want to build a Palbox. Place the Palbox in the middle of the clearing. The placement location of this structure is VERY IMPORTANT because it will establish the boundaries of first base.

STRUCTURE - Palbox[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 8x Wood / 3x Stone / 1x Padium Fragment
With your base set, the next structure you build should be a Wooden Chest. Wooden Chests are used to store all the Materials used for building and craft. I recommend placing your first chest right next to your Palbox. Once build, press “F” to open it. Immediately deposit all the Materials you have in your inventory into the Chest, including Stone, Wood, Paldium Fragments, Fiber, and Berry Seeds. You’ll want to keep your Weapons and some important items – like Pal Spheres and Berries – in your character inventory. NOTE: Materials in chests in your base can be used when building or crafting ANYWHERE across your base (i.e., they don’t have to be in your character inventory to access). I recommend placing additional Wooden Chests close to Trees and Stone Deposits to minimize the time your Pals spent carrying Materials back and forth.

STRUCTURE Wooden Chest[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 15x Wood / 5x Stone
As you walk around, you may notice that your character begins to get hungry. Eat a few Berries periodically to fill your Nutrition Bar.

You will also notice to that after several uses your Weapons begin to lose Durability. Build a Repair Bench and use it to repair your damaged Weapons:

STRUCTURERepair Bench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 10x Wood / 10x Stone

SECTION 200 – Catching Pals
210 – PAL SPHERES – Go to the Primitive Workbench and craft a few Pal Spheres. One important Material for Pal Sphere crafting, Paldium Fragments, can be acquired either as a rare drop from Stone mining or from directly mining Paldium Deposits further down the hill.

SPHERE Pal Sphere[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 3x Wood / 3x Stone / 1x Paldium Fragment
Pal Spheres are used to catch Pals. To catch a Pal, attack it with a weapon to weaken it then throw a Pal Sphere at it. Status Conditions – like Burn and Poison – also increase your capture chances.

220 – INITIAL PALS – The three Pals closest to your starting base are Lamball, Cattiva, and Chikipi. At the beginning of the game you want to catch 10x of each of these Pal Types, as you get an Experience Bonus for the first 10x Pals of a specific species you catch. NOTE: Lamball and Chikipi don’t run away when you approach them. You can catch them easily by walking right up to them, hitting them several times with a melee weapon, then throwing a Pal Sphere. Cattiva, in contrast, will run away if you get too close. I recommend hitting them with a range weapon to make them angry or attacking them while they’re sleeping at night.
230 – PALBOX MANAGEMENT – Once you catch a Pal, return to your Palbox. Press “F” to pull up the Palbox Management Menu. Assign a Pal to work at your Base. At this point, Cattiva is the most useful because of their Level 1 Mining Job, which allows them to mine Stone from nearby Stone Deposits. In the near future other Pals will also become very valuable to have at your Base.

You also want to have five Pals in your party at all times. Early in the game Cattiva is the most helpful because of it’s Partner Skill, Cat Helper, increases the Player’s Max Carrying Capacity by 50. This Partner Skill stacks with each Cattiva on your party, so five Cattiva’s will increase your Carrying Capacity by 250. Be sure to get five of them on your team as soon as possible.

When you catch a Pal it has a chance to have 1-4 random Passive Skills. Some of these Passive Skills directly benefit the player if the Pal is on there team. If possible, you’d like to have Cattivas on your team with the following Passive Skills:
  • Vanguard – 10% Increase to Player Attack.
  • Stronghold Strategist – 10% Increase to Player Defense.
  • Motivational Leader – 25% Increase to Player Work Speed.
  • Logging Foreman – 25% Increase to Player Logging Efficiency.
  • Mine Foreman – 25% Increase to Player Mining Efficiency.
For each Pal assigned to your Base you’ll want to build a Straw Pal Bed. These beds allow your Pals to sleep at night and recover their Sanity (SAN).

STRUCTUREStraw Pal Bed[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 3 / 2 Technology Points
  • COST – 10x Wood / 5x Fiber
240 – RANGE ATTACKS – To improve your Pal capture success, craft an Old Bow. In addition to the bow itself, you’ll want to craft at least 100 Arrows to go with it. Some Pals run away when they see you coming. If you hit them with an arrow they’ll typically get mad and attack you instead of running! This is very helpful because retreating Pals are very difficult to capture.

WEAPON Old Bow[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 3 / 1 Technology Points
  • COST – 30x Wood / 5x Stone / 15x Fiber
  • DAMAGE – 65
  • DURABILITY - 150
AMMOArrows[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 3 / 1 Technology Points
  • COST – 1x Wood / 1x Stone for 3x Arrows

250 – NIGHTTIME – The nighttime is actually a great time to capture Pals! Some Pals can only be caught at night. Additionally, many Pals sleep at night, making them much easier to catch. You can walk right up to them and hit them with a few attacks before they have a chance to wake up and run away. I highly recommend using the nighttime hours for Pal capturing runs.

Here are some Pals that commonly appear at night near the starting area:

SECTION 300 – Raising Your Base Level
310 – BASE LEVEL 2 – After building a Wooden Chest and deploying your first Pal, you can increase your Base from Level 1 to Level 2. Go to your Palbox and click “V” for “Base Upgrade”. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 1 to 2.

320 – BASE LEVEL 3 – For Base Level 3 you’ll need a Primitive Workbench and a Shoddy Bed. To build the Shoddy Bed you need to create an indoor space, which requires the Wooden Structure Set. Build a small room and put a bed in it. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 2 to 3.

STRUCTUREShoddy Bed[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 3 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 20x Wood / 5x Fiber / 1x Wool
FOUNDATION Wooden Structure Set[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 2x Wood per piece
330 – BASE LEVEL 4 – For Base Level 4 you’ll need a Feed Box and 3x Straw Beds. The Feed Box allows the pals in your Base to feed themselves. Place some berries in the Feed Box after you construct it. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 3 to 4.

STRUCTUREFeed Box[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 4 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 20x Wood
340 – BASE LEVEL 5 – For Base Level 5 you’ll need a Campfire and a Berry Plantation. The Campfire is used to cook food, which has more Nutrition than uncooked food. For example, Red Berries (15 Nutrition) can be converted to Baked Berries (21 Nutrition). The Berry Plantation provides a reusable source of Red Berries, however it requires four specific jobs – Planting, Watering, Gathering, and Transporting. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 4 to 5.

STRUCTURECampfire[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 2 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 10x Wood
STRUCTURE Berry Plantation[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 5 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 20x Wood / 20x Stone / 3x Berry Seeds
SECTION 400 – New Armor, New Pals
410 – NEW ARMOR – Your Berry Plantation won’t do anything until you catch a few new Pals. However, before you head further down the hill I encourage you to upgrade your armor. I recommend the following:

ARMORCommon Shield[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 4 / 2 Technology Points
  • COST – 20x Wood / 20x Stone / 10x Fiber / 10x Paldium Fragments
  • SHIELD – 100
  • DURABILITY – 1,000
MATERIAL Cloth[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 3 / 1 Technology Points
  • COST – 2x Wool
ARMORCloth Outfit[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 4 / 2 Technology Points
  • COST – 2x Cloth
  • DEFENSE – 15
  • HP – 70
  • DURABILITY – 150
The Common Shield is a defensive boost that recharges over time. The Cloth Outfit serves two purposes – it provides a defensive boost and it protects your character from cold temperatures.

420 – NEXT WAVE OF PALS – Head down the pathway and active the Fast Travel Point at Grassy Behemoth Hills. In this area you will find four new low-level Pals:
Catch at least two of each of these Pals. They will typically run away if you get close, so shoot them with a bow to anger them or sneak up on them at night. NOTE: If none of them are in the area, Fast Travel to your base and back. Fast Traveling resets the spawns in the area. These Pals provide three previously unavailable jobs – Watering, Planting, and Kindling. They also drop two materials – Pal Fluids and Flame Organs – that you will need later on.

430 – Automating Your Berry Plantation – Return to your Palbox and assign 2x Pengullet’s and 1x Gumoss’ to work at your base. The Gumoss will use the Planting job to seed each of your Berry Plantations. Once seeded, the Pengullets will use their Watering job to water each of your Berry Plantations. Once watered, the plants will grow, eventually being harvested by Cattiva’s Gathering job. Once harvested, your Pengullets and Cattivas will pick them up and put them into your Feed Box using the Gathering job. You now have a completely automated process for berry production. Feel free to place a few extra Berry Plantations to increase the speed that your Feed Box fills with Berries!

SECTION 500 – Base Leveling Continues
510 – BASE LEVEL 6 – For Base Level 6 you’ll need a Pal Gear Workbench and a Statue of Power:

STRUCTUREPal Gear Workbench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 6 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 30x Wood / 10x Paldium Fragments / 2x Cloth
STRUCTUREStatue of Power[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 6 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 20x Stone / 10x Paldium Fragments
The Pal Gear Workbench is used to craft Key Items that allow the Pals in your party to take special actions, like shooting a Flamethrower, being ridden as a Mount, etc. The Statue of Power is used to enhance Player and Pal stats. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 5 to 6.

520 – BASE LEVEL 7 – For Base Level 7 you’ll need a Crusher, a Stone Pit, and a Logging Site:

STRUCTURE Crusher[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 8 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 50x Wood / 20x Stone / 10x Paldium Fragments
STRUCTURE Stone Pit[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 7 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 50x Stone / 20x Wood / 10x Paldium Fragments
STRUCTURE Logging Site[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 7 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 50x Wood / 20x Stone / 10x Paldium Fragments
The Crusher allows Pals with the Watering job to convert 5x Stone to 1x Paldium or 1x Wood to 2x Fiber. The Stone Pit and Logging Site replace the need for nearby Stone Deposit and Trees. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 6 to 7.

530 – BASE LEVEL 8 – For Base Level 8 you’ll need a Primitive Furnace and a Hot Spring:

STRUCTUREPrimitive Furnace[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 10 / 3 Technology Point
  • COST – 50x Stone / 20x Wood / 3x Flame Organs
STRUCTUREHot Spring[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 9 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 15x Stone / 30x Wood / 10x Paldium Fragments / 10x Pal Fluids
The Primitive Furnace requires a Pal with the Kindling Job. It’s used to convert 2x Ore to 1x Ingot or 2x Wood to 1x Charcoal. After building this structure be sure to assign a Foxparks to work at your Base to activate it. The Hot Spring is used to improve the Happiness and Friendship level of your Pals. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 7 to 8.

NOTE: These two structures depend on two new Materials – Flame Organs and Pal Fluids. Each Foxparks you defeat yields 1-2 Flame Organs. Each Pengullet you defeat yields 1 Pal Fluid. As you venture a little further down the coast you’ll encounter Fuacks and Teafants, which also yield 1 Pal Fluid when you defeat them.
SECTION 600 – Venturing Out
610 – GROWING THE ARSENAL – Before traveling any further I recommend adding a few new items to your arsenal:

WEAPONThree Shot Bow[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 10 / 2 Technology Points
  • COST – 50x Wood / 12x Stone / 30x Fiber
  • DAMAGE – 40
  • DURABILITY – 250
ARMOR Feather Hair Band[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 10 / 2 Technology Points
  • COST – 10x Fiber / 5x Paldium Fragment
  • DEFENSE – 15
  • HP – 60
  • DURABILITY – 200
The Three Shot Bow is superior to the Old Bow. You can discard the Old Bow once the Three Shot Bow is available. The Feather Hair Band provides a nice defensive boost at minimal cost.

620 – RAYNE SYNDICATE TOWER – Continue heading down the path towards the Rayne Syndicate Tower. Don’t enter the tower yet, but be sure to activate the Fast Travel located nearby. Mine some ore until your Stone Pick Axe breaks / you run out of Weight, then Fast Travel back to your base.

630 – BASE LEVEL 9 – For Base Level 9 you’ll need a High Quality Workbench and a Medieval Medicine Workbench:

STRUCTUREHigh Quality Workbench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 11 / 3 Technology Point
  • COST – 50x Wood / 15x Ingot / 10x Nails
STRUCTUREMedieval Medicine Workbench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 12 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 30x Wood / 10x Paldium Fragments / 5x Nails
MATERIALNail[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 10 / 1 Technology Point
  • COST – 1x Ingot for 2x Nails
These structures require a significant amount of Ingot to craft, so be sure to mine Ore when you can and assign a Foxparks to your Primitive Furnace. This upgrade allows you to increase the number of Pals in your Base from 8 to 9.

640 – BASE LEVEL 10 – For Base Level 10 you’ll need a Sphere Workbench and a Cooler Box:

STRUCTURESphere Workbench[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 14 / 3 Technology Point
  • COST – 30x Wood / 10x Paldium Fragments / 10x Nails
STRUCTURECooler Box[palworld.fandom.com]
  • TECHNOLOGY – Tier 13 / 2 Technology Point
  • COST – 20x Wood / 20x Stone / 5x Ice Organ
Hitting Base Level 10 is a complete game-changer. Not only does it increase the number of Pals in your Base from 9 to 10 but it also allows you to build a Second Base! You now have all kinds of options available to you – Iron Weapons, more effective Pal Spheres, more powerful Pals, etc. Journey forward and take on the world of Palworld!
