Like every Ubisoft game, Far Cry 3 has It's own problems related to performance issues. This is usual in games like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag or other Ubisoft titles, where you need to tweak a few things to make the experience better.
IMPROVE THE GAME'S PERFORMANCE
Just put the Post FX on MEDIUM and leave everything as It is. If you want to run the game with uncapped frame rate, disable V-Sync inside the game, and just enable it inside the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Leave the following presets like this:

TEXTURES: HIGH
AMBIENT LIGHTNING: HIGH
SHADOW: VERY HIGH
POST FX: MEDIUM
GEOMETRY: ULTRA (OR HIGH)
VEGETATION: VERY HIGH (OR HIGH)
TERRAIN:HIGH
WATER: VERY HIGH (OR HIGH)
ENVIRONMENT: HIGH





FINAL THOUGHTS
Maybe It's the simplest thing you have ever thought of and seen here, but, you know, I want to do my bit here since I was experiencing some issues with it. Besides, I wanted to leave this guide here, just because we all want to play this awesome game without any issue at all, right?
