Intro
Hello, everyone.

A couple of you asked for a video on how to use the Chain lifts STOOL, but instead of a video, I have opted to make a guide on steam.

Lets get started.
Creating a chainlift the automatic way
To create a chainlift the automatic way, first you need to tick the little box in the tool menu that says "hook up mover":

This will make the next node you place turn green, so movers will connect to the chain lift by touching it.

The rest of the steps are as follows:

1. press SHIFT+R to enable automatic waypoint connections
2. left-click to place nodes along any path you want (if you did the above correctly, the first node should turn green)
3. once you've placed all your nodes, you can re-position them with the physgun if you want to
4. right-click to place a mover.
5. weld the mover to a chair or some other contraption that you want to move along the path
6. to send the mover along the path, simply touch the green node with it, and it will also turn green and start to move along the path.
Creating a chainlift manually
To create a chainlift the manual way, first you need to tick the little box in the tool menu that says "hook up mover":

This will make the next node you place turn green, so movers will connect to the chain lift by touching it.

The rest of the steps are as follows:

1. left-click to place nodes along any path you want (if you did the above correctly, the first node should turn green)
2. once you've placed all your nodes, you can re-position them with the physgun if you want to
3. right-click to place a mover.
4. weld the mover to a chair or some other contraption that you want to move along the path
5. press R once to toggle connection mode
6. left-click a node, and then left-click another node to connect them together
7. repeat step 6 until the whole path you want is connected together
8. to send the mover along the path, simply touch the green node with it, and it will also turn green and start to move along the path.

I am not sure what might have broken, i just tested the addon on my end and it still works as intended. that said, maybe theres a little bit of confusion? there isnt onscreen text saying it explicitly enabled the manual connection mode; but if its enabled the help text in the top-left corner should now say "select a node" or something like that. from there, it works similarly to the rope tool

when i press r it doesn't say it enabled

why isn't manual connection working? it only shows automatic connection enabling when i press shift r.

hmm...unfortunately thats all i can do to help then. its probably an addon conflict of some kind.

so, any errors in the console?

i have an addon that displays what the entity is, i can confirm it was a mover

only a couple things might have gone wrong that i can think of.

1. make sure the path is actually connected together, as indicated by the dotted lines between nodes
2. make sure your spawning a mover and not just another node- they are visually identical so i dont blame you if you spawned the wrong one by mistake

otherwise, check the console for errors related to this addon and report them back. a gmod update or addon conflict might have broken it

i touched the mover with the green node it rolled away instead of moving along the path
