Fix for game not launching (cache issue)
I found a fix for anyone stuck launching this game like I was.

Issue description:
Game never launches.
After investigating it seems the game is in some kind of shader cache writing loop for 10-15 mins+ (forever probs).
The process will stay running in task manager and Steam thinks the game is running but no new window appears.

Solution:
Delete the three ushaderprecache cache files located here:
%localappdata%\Indiana\Saved
Or if the above location doesn't work:
C:\Users\yournamehere\AppData\Local\Indiana\Saved

Delete all files located here (or at least the folders modified on the date of attempted launch):
%localappdata%\D3DSCache
Or if the above location doesn't work:
C:\Users\yournamehere\AppData\Local\D3DSCache

The game then launches instantly and runs great.

I hope this helps.

@nerd Necko you just need to open file explorer and copy and paste these addresses in. Alternatively you can press CTRL + R and copy and paste these addresses in and press enter to automatically open the file locations.

Found the issue maybe it helps someone... had to rename the file for VR launch so it can launch non VR:
X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\OpenXR\win64

i am struggling to understand this guide due to me being kinda new to pc shit. Could someone explain a tiny bit more in depth how to do this? ie. How to even access the right files because i keep running myself in circles trying to find it

Many thanks @atramors671 I have updated the guide to include that.

@spiratech, pro tip: if you type %localappdata% in your run dialogs (win+r key) it'll open explorer straight to the 'appdata\local' folder.

Yeah I have to do this occasionally, I'm not sure if it's after a graphics driver update or something else, I'll try and keep an eye on it, but I have picked up other games recently. I've still got to finish this one :).

Also to note, you might get away with just doing the first step and not the 2nd deletion of "C:\Users\yournamehere\AppData\Local\Indiana\Saved" part.

Editing my post. This allowed me to start up once with the issue fixed, but subsequent starts went back to 5min black screen before I could play. Super annoying. Issue came out of nowhere, not really sure why it happened after 30hrs of no issues.
