HOW TO: Install Community Scripts Patch on Linux/Steam Deck

Get up and running with the community patch for Renegade that many multiplayer servers require to play on them.

Getting Started
Getting Scripts
Download the latest scripts patch from Tiberian Technologies[www.tiberiantechnologies.org] website.

Getting Protontricks
Install Protontricks[flathub.org] for your system.
On Steam Deck, you can open the Discover desktop application and search for "Protontricks" and install it.
Using Protontricks
Open Protontricks, on Steam Deck with the Discover desktop application still open there should be a launch or open button.

Select Renegade from the list of games
NOTE: it may take a moment after clicking OK for the next window to open.

Select the Default Wine Prefix

Choose Run Explorer
NOTE: the winetricks window will close and then immediately reopen, Explorer will take a few seconds to open.

Browse to your Downloads folder
The Downloads folder should be located at something like
/home/<username>/Downloads
or
Z:/home/<username>/Downloads
if navigating from My Computer.

NOTE: Use / or My Computer to browse, Documents may not have the required directory reachable from that shortcut.

Double click on the scripts-<version>.exe
Installing Scripts Patch
Accept the Terms and Click Next

Locate Renegade Install
This should be auto filled for you, however if not the game should be located at something like
Z:\home\<username>\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Renegade

NOTE: Use of backslashes \ is required.

Select Your Language

Choose Components

Wait for Installation to Complete

Leave Serial Key Empty and Click Close

Ah, thanks a lot. I couldn't get it to work, because by just copying the folder from my Windows pc, dotnet8 was missing

Fixed it just run the 2nd running option and change it to windowed then change it back to full-screen

It works, but the window is very small. Fix?
