What is a trapped door?

A trapped door is a game mechanic within the Outlast Trials that is set there as an obstacle for the Reagents (players).

What differentiates a trapped door from a regular one is a small red light within a square that can be seen in the image below.

Usually the light can be found either on the sides, in the corner or on the top part of the door frame.

How to deal with trapped doors?

There are a few ways to deal with the trapped doors.

  • Slowly opening the door by holding the open door button.
  • Crouching in front of the door and then opening it, resulting in the trap flying over the player's head. (The quickest solution, keep in mind this does produce sound.)
  • Disarming the trap from the other side (either by going around the area or slow-opening the door). Disarming the trap produces sound but grants you a free battery to take. (Check images 2 and 3.)

  • The final way of dealing with the door is by buying the AMP (These become available from level 10 onwards by talking to the lady upstairs) called "Door Trap Breaker". When equipped, door trap breaker allows you to open doors normally, resulting in the trap shattering. On the other hand, if you slow open the door while this AMP is equipped, it'll disarm the trap instead. (Check image 4 for the AMP icon and description).
